R.I.P. Alan Lancaster. This tour proved that advancing years is no barrier to greatness. You were such a big part of one of the best bands of the 60's, 70's and 80's and were never the same after you left
Saw the original line up at DeMontford Hall in 1974 and will never forget it Absolutely amazing. I couldn't hear for three days my ears were buzzing for that long as they were so loud. Great times!
Goodbye Alan Lancaster. You were the heart and soul of Status Quo writing classics like Backwater and many others classics before Francis Rossi took over the song writing. Quo were never the same again without you after the early 80's. So glad you made a comeback for the Frantic Four tour. So many memories to remember. 🎸RIP.
Dont be pathetic. Francis wrote every single hit that made Quo popular in the first place. Alan had nothing to do with the bands early success. The core of the band was always Rick and francis, and Alan just had it coming with his stupid alpha male attitude
Alan Lancaster 7/02/1949 - 26/09/2021 Bassist/Singer/Songwriter/ Producer/Genius of STATUS QUO fame, has died aged 72 of Multiple Sclerosis at his Sydney home, surrounded by his family. Born in London, he moved to Australia in 1976 after marrying his beautiful wife Dayle. Alan wrote and co-wrote many classic Rock songs The 9 1/2 minute Psych/Rock song "Is It Really Me, Gotta Go Home" was written by the Genius of Alan Charles Lancaster. Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon album 1970 on the Astor / Pye Label. Produced by the late / great John Schroeder. Anyone who met Nuff would know first hand what a beautiful, sweet and charming gentleman he was. I had the pleasure of socialising with Alan at a few gigs in the late 80's, at some of his gigs with The Lancaster Bombers and The Lancaster / Brewster Band and The Party Boys, the latter having 2 Chart Topping Hits. " Hold Your Head Up " by Argent and " He's Gonna Step On You Again " by John Kongos. Alan produced a multi-platinum selling album for Pianist Roger Woodward.
Saw these guys in Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 oh geez must have been ‘73 ? Never heard of them...after that I bought every friggin album since. Here we are some what 45 some old yrs later...and still love em !!! Status Quo...God you just have to take something and move...wow...so sorry about the sudden passing of Rick Parfitt Parfait ? Name escapes me but he and the original Quo will always be rocking my heart 🎵🎶🎸😎❤️
Just take me was absolutely brilliant. I’m always thinking when these four are playing together, that there’s those who mock quo for being simple. That song was dead right, tight as anything and has a real groove. And spud is a terrific drummer.
@highdownmartin. You may already know this. Apparently Francis Rossi's solo on "Just Take Me" was the original example of the "galloping" guitar break. I believe the boys in Iron Maiden copied the idea in a lot of their tunes! If you haven't already, check out a Quo tribute band called Big Fat Mama from Sweden. They are all about the Frantic Four era and do a pretty good job IMHO.. You and yours stay safe and well.
The Frantic Four tours were just a pure gift from the rock gods , it was so good to see the four of them on the same stage again that I dont think any fan would have worried if the just broke wind for 2 hrs , the guitar solo in Backwater has always been my favourite during almost 50 years of listening to all rock bands , love Quo live , great album
*Quo* was my favourite album followed close second by *If You Can't Stand The Heat* and close third *Blue For You.* Favourite singles were *Break The Rules* and *Caroline.* This was the best live performance I've seen (so far). *RIP Rick and Alan*
Stunning live version of a classic QUO song. By far the best ever UK rock band. The Frantic Four. The one and only true QUO line up. Period. The magic they produce(d) on stage. Nothing comes even close.
John " Spud " Coghlan is Left Handed yet he plays Drums Right Handed. Amazing and incredible. He's probably the greatest swing/shuffle Drummer in history
How good does Lancaster sound. Remember first time seeing this line up was the early 70's. And boy he sounds exactly the same. Just as good on stage as ACDC
Quo sound BETTER than ACDC. Much tighter. Saw ACDC live in 2017 and it was no good, totally overcooked. Very disappointed in the sound. Mind you it was a outdoor concert. Still, I expected better...

Lancaster total legend. I learned drums purely after listening to these guys. What John C is doing on the fill ins is not easy, even for a young fella.
John " Spud " Coghlan is Left Handed yet he plays Drums Right Handed. Amazing and incredible. He's probably the greatest swing/shuffle Drummer in history.
There was absolutely something very special about the Frantic Four! A specially on the old albums. Alan was a very good bass player with great grooving bass lines. But also melodic lines is his speciality, If you listen to the song “rock and roll” from the just supposing album; great playing. John was a master in shuffles. It is a pitty it is all gone Johns playing is not tight anymore and is slowing down the tempos. And Alan has his physical problems. But they were the best and I like to watch this clip! I love Quo!!

The footage at Glasgow Apollo brings so many brilliant memories for me it was the last time I seen them .I met an old friend yesterday . I don’t know how Quo got into the conversation but they did and he told me how to get the footage. As I said it was the 5th and last Qui concert I saw. It took me back to 20 again bouncing up in front stalls wae ma big brother who got me into them. The first album a heard was Dog of two heads after that Piledriver Helloand the other album’s after a didnae find them a patch on Dog and Piledriver. But the auld Appolo was a great concert hall.Anybody my age will it used to be The Greens Playhouse,it turned into Apollo and held over 3000, Brillant memories
Technically Rossi never had anything out of the ordinary or ground breaking, But he was and still is a really solid 'meat and potato's” lead guitarist. What he did have back then though, in those days at least... was great lead melody. I am sure he bounced ideas off the rest of the band back then to make it so. Always hard to do that. Be he was good at putting those lead melodies together. That era has gone. Never mind. As Pete Townshend said. It's all been done before, there's no new melodies left to write. Oh and I have been playing the guitar for about 45 years. I can even remember a few old Quo songs. 😉
I know I went to the Wolverhampton Civic Hall gig and I cannot begin to say how much it meant to me to see the original Quo line up for the first time. Unfortunately I am one of the millions of fans that missed out on Quo in the seventies due to being too young. They are the only reason I wish I was born 10 years earlier. I have seen Quo 32 times since The End Of The Road tour and while I don't wish to sound disrespectful to today's Quo but I felt that night that I was seeing the real Quo.
Good on you Francis. You went along fully with this reunion of your former bandmates. And your playing is great! We know that you've said that: "you actually prefer playing the more 'lighter' Status Quo songs". But fair dues....you played great (particularly on Just take me). It's just such a pity that you couldn't include these 2 songs in your current set....going forward. It's what real *QUO* fans really want to hear. All the best.
R.I.P. Alan Lancaster. This tour proved that advancing years is no barrier to greatness. You were such a big part of one of the best bands of the 60's, 70's and 80's and were never the same after you left
He was also a top man who always gave the fans time.
Nuff was and still is the true spirit of original Quo. Sadly betrayed by a drug addict traitor.
Rick really brought his A game to these tours. A masterclass in how to play rhythm guitar!
he always did to be fair
Alan - the backbone of this great musical gift to mankind - thank you for the music - Alan!

Alan was a member of status qou, same as Rossi and Parfitt, loved most of his songs.
For me.he’s songs where no-1
@@Tim.Krs227 oh ye🤬 lots of the hits when I was young where written by Alan Lancaster .so he was as much a member as the rest.
Amen to that brother!
@@Tim.Krs227 Utter shite comment.
Do i get the impression that we all love Allan Lancaster, the 'HARD MAN' of QUO
Rossi prefer a softer side to quo that Alan hated. The former always thought the later quo was the real quo which is rubbish!
Thanks Alan, backbone of quo for years , rip sir.
