Drywall saw, small prybar, wire strippers, small pipe wrench. Wire ties. Maybe a small square or ruler, paint marker, pencil, plug tester and cheap Hf volt meter. Few things I have in my box when I go to someone's house
@@TomGunnTools no problem. I dont know your skill level. I do a little of everything thats why I suggested testers and other things. Nice job on refinishing the tools!!
Love it , I have something similar a matter-of-fact in a Kennedy tool box just tools that I have restored the fact they work great one of my old linesman pliers I happen to have in my tool bag at work
Great clean up on those classic tools. I have go box now. I was using a tool bags but it is too disorganized and you have to dig around to find tools. After seeing your video I plan to switch to a tool box with tray. Thanks for the tip.
I love estwing hammers. As far as your to go tool box...just don't ever plan on it being enough, because no matter what you, you'll need/want something else.
Looks pretty complete to me. I always have to load and reload my tool bag when going to my older brother's house. I think it's time to clean up my old Craftsman metal tool box and load it with it's own set of tools. Good idea and will be a time saver. Great video. Thank.
I remember one of scoutcrafters videos where he cleaned up a leather bag with saddle soap and then some conditioners. Maybe that would work on that leather handle. Love that kennedy box and maybe put in some side cutters, a razor knife, and electrical tape in there. Even bailing wire, you can fix anything with electric tape and bailing wire. ( while somebody holds your beer ). Good video Tom.
Nice to go box. I suggest you consider adding a small torpedo level. I have one in my to go box and find I use it often. Maybe that small one you have meets your needs though.
Channellock must've saved a whole tenth of a penny switching to the rivet..........Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Leather Estwing................Throw some Twinkies in the toolbox, rumor is they have so many preservatives that 20 years from now they'll still be "Fresh".
Nice. Some autobody putty will fill in the divot in the handle. Careful sanding it smooth not to go too far and wear down the beautifil patina on the rest of the handle.
Nice toolbox Sir. One can never have enough tools !! I like the tool cleanup part too. How about a derusting/ restoration one for a future video? Not a full detailed project like scoutmaster, but more like a "keep tools clean and functional" one. We don't all have the luxury of belt sanders (for now). Keep up with the tool deals/ hauls, you can't have enough tools. All the best from North England.
Nice job Mr. Tom! The estwing came out terrific compare to where it started! Estwing is my fav.. especially the leather wrapped handles! Good stuff!! My to go box is a 5 gallon bucket...lol.. I just shop the shop...so, maybe I need to put together something like you have... enjoyed it!
Hey Tom that’s a great box but not quite complete. I didn’t see a single roll of duct tape, bailing wire or WD-40. 😆 Seriously though I’d throw a file handle in there. The Dewalt set is pretty slick. Take care 😃👍🏼
I would only remove the loose rust from the leather handled estwing with a brass brush at first. Maybe you like the patinated look if there's no bad pitting.
I picked up two of those DeWalt 1/4 sets about two years ago, l gave one to my dad and the other to my teenage son… I have been searching for another for myself since only thing I find strange about it is that it has a 4.5 mm socket but not a 5.5 mm (the Gearwrench set l have contains a 5.5 mm but not a 4.5) So you might want to go through your collection and see if you have a 5.5 to toss in the box - ya never know
@@TomGunnTools l picked up a Craftsman 5.5mm (keep it in the SBD family) from Lowe’s and slipped it in the case near the ratchet handle on my son’s kit Pickup them up at Tractor Supply for about $24 if l remember correctly
U should write a list of the tools/cleaning chemicals used for the restorations!!! Like what type of wheels u are using!! Maybe write it in the videos as a caption?
Great set Tom. Always the same when you go somewhere, always wishing you would've brought this or that tool. Guess it's a universal thing. One all important tool I'm missing is an exacto knife or Stanley knife! Always need one of those.
Good looking kit!! All my "kits" ( plumbing, electric, carpenter, ECT. ) Have something you may want to add. A 3"x5" spiral pad of paper and pencil. Good if you have to write measurements down or make a list of needed parts. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Hi Tom- Those both came out great! All good quality tools from days gone bye... That awesome tool box will serve you well for all sorts of jobs... I would add a roll of Scotch electrical tape! =D
Hi Bruce, that definitely will work to remove rust and make a big difference. With the sanders and grinders it takes out the pitting that the rust often causes in the steel.
They look good👍. I’m sure I’ve said it before in one of your previous videos, but having a go box full of tools sure is handy to have. By the way what are your thoughts on the two Hercules grinders? Which one do you like using more?
Honestly the smaller 7 amp works just fine for 95% of things and I like that it is compact for tight spots. The 13 amp is really only needed for thick cuts of steel where you may want more power and for where you may want to use a 6inch masonry cut off wheel for bricks. Just my opinion though.
Thanks Tom! Great tip on the step bit in that drill index!

Excellent job on the Channellock and Estwing hammer!
Thanks Pal!
Nice complete tool box setup. American steel cleans up real nice!
Hi Tim, it sure does!
Those slip-joint pliers from you box need some lov'in!
Indeed mark!
nice setup... Love estwing tools especially when the handle is stacked leather. thanks for sharing!!!
Yes, looking forward to cleaning up the one with the stacked leather.
Nice job Tom! Both came out really well!
Thanks pal, appreciate it!
I would add a 12 in. pipe wrench, a roll of Teflon tape, 6 and 10 in. Knipex plier wrenches, and a variety pack of nails. Nice video.
Great stuff Lyndon, Thanks!
They both look really good.
Useful looking tool box 🛠👍😊
Hi Sparky! Hope you doing well. Thanks for watching.
Hi Tom, I hope you and your family are also well, so far so good here Mate
Awesome video man. That’s pretty awesome how good you got those rusty tools looking! Definite worth bringing back to life.
Thanks!
Just finished restoring two Estwing leather handle hammers. Came out great, very fun. Thanks
Nice! What did you use on the leather?
Sanded the leather from 80 grit to 400; applied Lexol leather conditioner, as much as it wanted to absorb; paste wax buffed out.
Looks good, having a mobile tool box is important. Maybe add a torpedo level for hanging pictures and shelves.
Yep added one in! I’m going to do a update video soon with the stuff I added.
Love it ,

Yes, a beer is essential for sure! Lol thanks for the suggestions Joe!
I also keep an old 35mm film cannister of assorted screws in mine

Yes, that could definitely come in handy!
Interrsting toolbox. You never have all you need. You keep putting more and more
For sure! So true
