I would make sure when you put your prices up, that they have two prices... 4 weekly and 8 weekly. (Or whatever your equivalent is) My 8 weekly are 20% more. If they skip that's fine, they need to just know it'll be more next clean, if they keep skipping say i see you prefer 8 weekly, so therefore will put you on that schedule it'll just be 20% more.
The serial skippers and serial locked gaters wear you down after a while ! It’s hard because you don’t want to to cut your nose off to spite your face but sometimes enough is enough, I’m still working on my price increases , more so jobs I’ve had since I started that haven’t increased in 5 years , glad it’s still going good Rob 👍🏻
Thank you 🙏 hope the rest of the month goes well to. Yes the serial skippers or locked gates do get you down. But when I need the money I just plough on all you can do. Working out price rises to fur April, will feel good for a year but I guess the price of living will go up again to counter it. Hard as you know it’s the same for your customers.
Action cam on pole great for gutter surveys. I would feel terrible charging to empty gutters that were actually empty in the first place. Forgot to say last week when it was raining and getting on your glasses, a waterproof baseball cap works great. Do you ever try and bring jobs forward to fill in the skips?
The action camera came in handy to check the gutters. Good idea with the water proof baseball cap. If we get a skip we just live with it and think early finish.
Really enjoying the survival series mate 😂 although I feel your pain 100% 😢 I'm based in North wales on the coast and I have to say Dec/Jan have been some of the toughest I've faced and I'm literally in the same boat as you rob multiple named storms snow ice wind rain and down where I live we had a water main burst and had no running water for 3 days so that didn't help either and to top it off van failed its M.O.T end of January 580 quid bill along with my tax bill the same week ! So I've been doing my own survival series as im a solo window cleaner brought in a grand this week so thats dug me out the shit slightly but it's been hard work mate keep it up really enjoyed the content mate 👍
Thank you 🙏 and so sorry to hear the bad run of luck. Hopefully that’s all in one go, survive that and you’ll get through anything. Funny how close we get to quitting but something makes us stubborn and go down fighting. Fingers crossed for better weather and some good months work. Hang in there mate.
I love the solicitors I clean. Decent price for window cleaning. 2 gutter clears a year and now added internal windows. Hope the months continues good for you. How do you find it with your flow turned up?
I clean the back windows twice a year and also the internal Windows twice a year. Everyone says how much brighter it is. I am loving the flow being higher at the moment Matthew is also finding it better.
For a skip do you think its acceptable to charge £2.50 or even £5 extra on the next clean? Especially if theyve skipped you twice now… I purchased a part of a round of my uncle and need to make back my investment, pay off my start up costs like equipment and the investment in the round so I have to do 2 cleans for each of my customers before ive even made back what I paid for them. So skips and “ oh just leave it this time” is really annoying
Yes it does get annoying but I just rile with it and concentrate on what I get at the end of the month. But yes those who are regular skippers do get on my radar. Life does get in the way, but those who are regular are n my list to deal with. Once you get what you need a month I think your in a position to then drop them for someone new who will be regular. Only far at the end of the day, I do like the idea of them paying a little extra for skipping and it is a small cost to be fair. If they do not like that then I’d say they are not the customer for you. But I get your point mate. Don’t be scared to replace them with someone who will appreciate you.
@ yeah appreciate the good advice thanks. The reason its annoying for me is that I bought 150 customers slightly away from where i just moved and now live and it wasnt quite enough work with just the windows the idea to pack it out with new customers near me and then do the sofit facai and gutter work but that is all much harder scrubbing! So customers skipping it painful but should get better as I get more used to the round, where everyone is and who I can fit in or squeeze into the end of a day to make up/adapt. Bloody tough work I tell ya the body is feeling it but good having my own business and no bosses.. just need to make sure I charge enough which is also tough as need to do 2/3 cleans minimum before i can put my uncles prices up which I think some of them easily should but its a balance between not being to pricey so people are still happy to have you round 8 weekly..

I will have to start doing a 4 weekly and a 8 weekly price i think. Definitely for those who are serial skippers.
