    Commenting as I watch. Great video as always Rob. I've tried all sorts of brushes and jets, and just as I think I've found the right combination I change and think I've found another good combination. If I could recommend anything to you I would say get yourself a Gardiner flocked xtreme sill brush. It's best used on maintenance cleans but it is brilliant and is so light. It has little side bumpers you can add and is so light. Sorry for the long comment.

    Don't do the gutters on conservatories they are part of the roof

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 3 дні тому

      I just felt when i started that i would draw a line from the gutters down as part of the conservatory windows. And for conservatory roof i would do all above the gutters. The main reason was because if i was cleaning a conservatory roof, and cleaned the gutters on the outside, i would then get the windows wet and then end up cleaning them. But i suppose you could include the conservatory windows as part of the roof clean.

    • @uniteallaction
      @uniteallaction 3 дні тому

      @@CrystalCleanWindows I'm only referring to maintenance cleaning. I think sometimes in this business, you can end up cleaning everything and anything. For me, I don't clean anything over 18 feet. I generally don't do skylights or Velux windows, and I avoid conservatory roofs. I don't clean gutters, fascias, soffits, or any of that. I focus solely and entirely on window cleaning, with no power washing. In my experience, if it's not just the windows, it takes too much time. I just want to clean the windows on a three-bed semi, ideally with five or six on the same street. I charge £15 per house, aiming to get 20 houses done and then go home.

    With time experience is gained.... as you start hitting your. work quotas. or limit and establishing yourself you automatically start to realize you can. raise your prices ( this. is what the most do or should be doing ! ) ...... The goal is to get the creme of the crowd. because as you start getting older and doing the job more often the negative physical side starts to kick in and you then realize it is about energy and not time..... i always say. "there is more time in a day. than a person has energy "..... So if you are not. raising your pricing with. new customers it can only mean that. you lack experience..... There is way about getting these prices. and you have. to use the right wording. when talking to customers.. things like " I have to pay income tax , vat , Car costs , no work in Winter...... the job is. very dangerous , you are paying for professional tools. ..... professional work....... i am insured..... i have a good. reputation ( having great. google. reviews will help you get your price ! ) ..... Travel time..... Hard and stressful work....... " It. has to be. worth my while ".... You have to be confident polite and show no compromise. really ! when pricing.. Always remember it is about energy. not time. when actually cleaning something. then you add in factors like. driving time etc.. Stressful work or jobs should be priced. accordingly. because. they take a lot out of you and can in fact ruin the rest of your week which is counter productive IMO !.. Learn to say NO.. You grow. by always advertising and always getting the price you deserve......... Many customers are friendly only. because. the price is below par or. cheap as soon as. you start to get a proper price they. change their colors. quickly.....It is all about being brave but always be polite and respectful... ( something i am not always great at. lol but i think you are capable of )

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 3 дні тому

      That's a good point about the energy involved rather than the time taken. as i get and feel that i am getting older the price will probably go up lol 😂. Always good to be polite and respectful does go a long way. I totally agree with about mentioning items you have to cover, as people only seem to time you from start to finish for a job and assume that you earn that per hour. Not even thinking about the costs you have to cover to be left with a living as well. I can see the full benefit of charging right to future proof your business.

    Hi Rob. Always love your videos mate. I only use a backpack so I'm none the wiser - how many litres per minute is 40psi on your pump please? Thanks mate. PS. Yes I've tried a few of the jets - pencil, fans (fans would beat pencil jets for me) and I also like the Gardiner rinse bar as it really improves the rinse down itself. The only issue is it's an over the top one, so on windows as you say it knocks about the top of the window area or brickwork 👍

    I believe you're overcomplicating the process with Squeegee and Zero. There's no need to invoice the customers directly. You only need to track the payments from GoCardless and sync them to your account as earnings. This way, you won't need to monitor each customer individually. However, if you're accepting some cash payments, you'll need to track those separately.

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 6 днів тому

      In Zero payments vis GoCardless and Stripe are fairly easy as they automatically match up most of the time. I still double check them though. Squeegee is esy at you reconcile the payments which it often matches up correctly. I can the use the squeegee to cross reference any reconciliation in Zero as i use the squeegee customer number as a reference for the invoices raised in Zero. I used Zero from day 1 as the accountant use Zero, Squeegee i used later on. But yes it does feel like i am doubling up my work sometimes. Always track the cash, cheque, and manual card payments using Squeegee as well.

    Those Gardiner sill brushes are light and great for Awkward cleaning at a distance ( At distance you need. light weight ! ) . The Gardiner solar 45. cm medium. ( red stock and white bristles ) is fantastic for large windows and of course solar panels .. 45 cm is an ideal width. covering ground. quickly !! any smaller would not be good and any larger would be. too wide.... The original flocked Gardiner sill brush is. FANTASTIC .... Gardiner do not sell them anymore. but you may be able to get them on other. online shops , If. you see. them buy 2 or 3 . of them they are ultra light and effective at distance..

    I hear what you are saying around old faithful customers. But your overheads and living costs are what they are. Make sure you are charging enough to cover yourself. We are putting our pricing up 7% annually to catch up with the damage the last few years of inflation has caused. Consider requoting your bottom 20% of jobs, if things are getting too tight. New customer who dont have your service are always willing to pay more than, long term customers paying peanuts.

      Totally agree with you there, running costs vehicle repairs and kit all mount up and the cost goes up every year too. Funny how some people assume you’re loaded because they just see your time and the price you charge. Never think of time you lose travelling locked gates etc

    I'd rather do less work and get paid more. Window cleaning is a luxury service. I find a lot of people complaining about how much things cost, but won't quit smoking.

      You do what you need to do, as long as you keep the finger on the pulse you will know how to tweak things. Very true about smoking, i used to be like that but havent smoked for years now. I think window cleaning will be a job for life, so it will serve us well in the end. Wouldn't rather do anything else to be honest.

    Would you be able to put a second van on the road to help lighten the load?

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 28 днів тому

      I have mentioned couple of years ago about that, but Sophie is going to move to Scotland at some point. There are a few things that are up in the air at the moment which are holding Sophie moving to Scotland.

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 17 днів тому

      Hi Marc, i have for the last 2 years been dropping the hint to the misses lol 😂 But it was hard to make a decision as Sophie had been looking to move to Scotland. But there is always something that keeps holding it off. Also with the economic situation we thought best to just make do until things get better. Didn't want to commit to another loan. But another van would lighten the load and take on more work with the aim of getting better family work balance and increasing wages. Just got to get the others i think to buy into it.

    Hiya rob hope your well, We recently moved into a rented place and it has a septic tank currently been here 1 month and it's been emptied 3 times having so many issues but the company looked into it with a camera and it's got standing water in the soak away sounds like your issue The soak away only has a 20 odd year life span apparently so needs moving as apparently the ground can become to wet or something lol. Something different to talk about other than windows her haha

    Hi How much waste water does 1000ltr pure water produce ?

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows Місяць тому

      You can change the ratio of waste to pure, most have it at 50/50 but I have it at 60/40. That's waste to pure. So if it was set to 50/50, 1000 str of pure would produce 1000 str of waste.

    • @CrystalCleanWindows
      @CrystalCleanWindows 17 днів тому

      Hi mate, depends on how you have the waste to product ratio set. If it is set to 50/50 then to make 1000ltr you will produce 1000ltr waste water. 👍
