Me and my son were playing with 2 of these motorcycles tonight christmas eve and we damaged the flywheel portion on BOTH of them. We were too rough with them but on the outside they are still fine we weren't super careless but yeah the flywheel makes a grinding sound and it doesn't have the same top speed its super slow. The second one has the same problem but to a lesser extent. I am going to ask Lego support for 2 new gray base pieces. They usually are good about that. Interesting to me, because we had no issues whatsoever with the FRONT tire. Only the rear wheels. Oh and there is no visible damage whatsoever to either of the cycles. It's all internal.
LEGO will absolutely send you replacements, at least it really feels like that should. They last thing they want is bad PR to the tune or ruining a kid's Christmas with defective products.
@@JoshBuildsStuff I once lost a policeman's hat once and I went on Lego support and they sent us back 2 policeman's hats AND another german shepard dog along with it which was another piece that came in that set but which we still had and never lost. They just added it into the little care package they sent, which arrived quickly too. Ever since then I have trusted them to not only do the right thing, but to go above and beyond.
Same problem for my sons new cycle. I was able to open it up partially and could look inside. There are several gears, one with very fine teeth. None were obviously broken. I can’t figure out what was actually damaged.
Mate, I did exactly the same with my son, he broke the 'engine' of the moto I told him he was to rough. And of course my mum bought him the big set for Christmas. You got everything right. 👍🏼and subscription deserved
Oh man, wouldn't I have loved those as a kid. Seeing them now already bring back joy! I was such a fan of Lego racers... But yeah, too expensive. At least Lego was fast to adress the problem and sends replacements, but I'm still curious how did that pass the control....
Have you read the box, apparently lego is no longer made in danmark only. These bike contains parts from many countries. And the wheels used to be just display piece. Now they have to handle hard impact.
@@humorss Since when were the wheels of a TOY intended to be just for display? And what does it matter if they don't make everything in Denmark, my comment still stands....

they are cool, but between the front wheel issue and the price, I will hold off until either Lego addressed the durability issue, or they go on sale. In a few stores near me, the motorcycles are going for about $8, which I dont think is justified

Had a similar experience with a very disappointed child - after one day with his new motorcycle, tht rear wheel stopped spinning freely and then the front wheel flew off and got lost. Will definitely request new front wheels from Lego.
I may need to stock up on extra motorcycles for repair parts or contact LEGO for "missing parts." They're very reliable for replacing missing parts from secondhand retired sets.
Our gear box broke on ours and its incredibly hard to get into the inside to see if repair is possible. Very fun toys, but we second the notion that they are really a big bummer when they dont work
We faced aflywheel problem. Opening the back revealed one small grain of sand that litteraly stuck the mechanism. Hopefully LEGO will take care of these issues because the idea is great and new but damage the reliability of otherwise a very strong brand.
How did the breakage issue get passed LEGO’s play testing and quality control? Shame on that part and the high price, as they look like fun toys. Also, how do you think that breaking point could be fixed in potential stuff like re-releases? As I’ve seen some old toy lines with breakage issues re-release certain toys with the issues fixed sometimes. Like with a metal pin holding the front wheel together or something else?
Those are all great questions and suggestions. I have no idea how this got past LEGO's QA. They did acknowledge the breaking issue but I don't know if they're doing anything to actually fix it besides offering to replace broken wheels for free.
I might now understand why it passed QA and why it breaks like it does. It's kinda good that the wheel will break. You can replace that small part easily. If the frame of the bike would break then you would have to replace the whole bike. Maybe the front wheel is cheep. They could however add some spare wheels already in the retail box.
These sets are cool, but like you say the price is quite steep. But the sale on them should be pretty decent in time. For some reason Amazon here in the Netherlands had the monster truck set for 50% off. So I picked it up. otherwise it would have stayed where it was. But it was your earlier video that got me to even consider picking these up. My son loves it. but now I know that it will break sooner rather than later.
Many many years ago I had gotten the Lego Indiana Jones motorcycle escape set. The motorcycle wheel pegs ended up braking. This was in 2010. I’m disappointed to see Lego still hasn’t fixed that
These light bikes are simply too fast and will slam into everything front wheel first. The peg breaking is probably not even a regional issue for the americas only. The wheel was simply not designed for such loads initially and reusing the old motorbike wheel was probably a bad decision from LEGO that will lead to recalls in other parts of the world as well. It would be best to address the issue proactively by releasing a reinforced front wheel before getting too many complaints.
I've heard from a couple people now that the flywheels are breaking which is a major bummer. My kids haven't managed to break that part yet but I'm sure it's coming.
I believe that you can just email Lego saying that you broke your front wheel, they will send you a new one. Overall, it’s their low QC which caused this broken wheels prevalently happen
I have them in my Walmart. I was considering of getting a couple but I'll pass. Lego should do the front wheel like the back wheel but just have a free rolling wheel not the friction type. It will decrease the peice count but if its integrated in the frame it should be better.
@@spearmintpony7105 I meant integrated into the frame with a free rolling wheel, not a rim and tire that are separate parts that requires installation.

I got one because it looked cool enough, but after messing with the fly wheel and getting it to rip down the hallway WAY too fast, I haven't experienced the front clip breaking at all. The flywheel mechanism has gotten debris in there which is easy enough to pick out with a needle. Maybe I'm testing my luck by mentioning it 😅
I’m all for the single bikes but like you said the box sets are overpriced in my opinion as well and it’s sad considering everyone wants to collect all the bikes!
Damn. I thought to buy one although the $9 price for a bike seems expensive. But if the front wheel will break it makes no sense. It should either be $5 or preferably more sturdy.
