Who’s here because of Jay Leno’s garage?
I remember Parnelli and Bill Stroppe drove this car across the rock and washboard desert of Baja and at one point Parnelli was doing 135mph...so fast that the spotter airplane could not keep up with it. P.J. was a fearless monster behind the wheel of anything he drove!
I saw this machine at the Mint 400.
Just saw on Mecum auctions one of two made of the 2024 Bronco DR (desert racer) made with Big Oly colors!
I remember attending the Mint 400 and hearing that Bronco roar by, I was always under the impression it had a FE 427 not a 351W because of it's speed or PJ just had a very heavy foot.
1971 Baja 1000 Ensenada to La Paz the record still alive not even the TT can break it 14h 59 min 27 seconds, but I rember the letters PJ on front bumper.
Wasn't there another Bronco Baja 1000 racer sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon beer? Ol Pabby?
I remember seeing a red & silver one in Hot Rod magazine that was sponsored by Canon cameras
