I don't have an Oled yet, but I have seen the exact same dead pixels on a plasma screen. That's the reason I'm still sticking with led. I just can't justify spending all that money on an oled tv, that may or may not last only a couple of years.
I was legitimately going to buy an OLED tomorrow after work.... glad I saw this. May have to do some research on a decent LED with local dimming instead. Yikes.
What’s crazy is I have a 58”Panasonic plasma that has amazing blacks and no dead pixels and it’s a couple of decades old. No 4K it’s only 1080P. But man with an amazing picture.
I watched the 65-inch S95B at Best Buy today and it clearly outdid everything else in the store in term of vivid colors and by a long shot. Hoping to hear some resolution on this issue.
I have same problem and | have feeling this dead pixels near all edges started to appear only after TV started to activate this "pixel -killer- refresher" feature. I had zero dead pixels for first 1-1.5 years of use, and then suddenly got tons of them, especially after I've done manual pixel refresh few times. 2019 C9.
I steer clear of OLED panels, convinced that the burn-in problem persists despite manufacturers' claims of improvement. It appears they prioritize the cost savings and higher profits OLED offers, blatantly disregarding consumer experience.
why then i never saw in my whole life this dead pixels on smartphones ? Me , my gf , best friends using whole life oled smartphones with oleds , and never saw this problem . They start some yellow after 3-5 years , yes , but dead pixels ....
Just noticed a dead pixel on my NEW Nintendo Switch Oled, I’ve had it for max 3 months and haven’t dropped it once. So if this is the case with Oled I should of just stayed with the original Switch
Here I was planning to go with a 77-inch LG C1 because the price has been dropping and now after yesterday's talk of how update issues you had with the S95B could be in LG C1s already and now this pixel issue it is starting to look like I should go back to my plan to buy an inexpensive Sony, Samsung, or LG 75-inch LCD for $700 to $1200.
Just saying, even if it's largest size is only 65in the U8G is a really darn nice option, got it on sale for 800$ on prime day recently and it's been well worth it for the price vs the lower end Samsung/LG/Sony tvs by far
This is exactly why I'm hesitant to buy a new laptop with an OLED... My current Zephyrus is 5 years old and could go longer. It would drive me nuts to know that every time I'm using it, I'm just wearing it out.
It looks like the panel has become unsealed. When OLED panels become exposed to oxygen/moisture, they degrade extremely rapidly hence the pixels around the edges failing.
I also have Sony Bravia A80G OLED from 2019 and along the border there are exact same dead pixels, although they are not causing any issue while watching from distance but I also have exact the same issue.
Was it because you had a bright background? I have an all black wallpaper, turn off task bar and use a chrome extenstion to make every web page dark mode. Will that improve the life span?
Okay, this was super interesting to see. I have bought the LG OLED65G19LA OLED back in the middle of 2021 and so far I have no dead pixel, I hope it stays that way for a long time of course. The TV is mainly in use for normal tv/movie consumption with around 25% use for gaming. So I'm definitely interested in seeing how it will age. What im wondering is why you have so many dead pixels (yes, I know you mentioned degrading with time). For example, I have yet to see an old OLED phone where some or any pixel have died. The OLED Screen in my iPhone XS from 2018 still looks brand new, no problems whatsoever. I expected it would be easier for Manufactures to keep tv screens in a good condition for longer than phone screens because of the pixel density and way rougher daily usage on phones.
UA-camrs push OLED so hard because most of them have deals with LG and they will just get a replacement screen from the company, these screens are far from perfect.
2:31 something similar actually happened on my mom's samsung tablet when i was a kid. I left a game menu running on the tablet with the screen down on a bed. ~half an hour later i came back and there was a big black spot like that in the video on the tablet, but, as far as i remember, the display was normal a few days later. I don't know if it has been replaced or somehow recovered and, to be fair, i don't really know if it was an OLED
Panasonic 55GZ950 owner, have it for almost 3 years (since January 2020, but it's a 2019 model) and last week I've noticed there are like 50+ dead pixels along the borders of the screen, just like in this video but not as worse (yet?) 🧐 WHY😭 i even run the tv in a low brightness, but highly accurate "THX Cinema" preset. 75% random video content, 25% gaming. TV has about 4600 hours of usage. This doesn't seem fare...
Sorry this is off topic I just want to know what you think with the question I am going to ask you. I have a Sony A1E. Is it worth updating to the A95K which should be available soon? I can’t watch HDR with this set, everything is so dark, especially inside buildings and night time content. What do you think/
Maybe QD OLED doesn't have this issue or newer OLEDs with heatsinks? Well you just reinforced my decision to buy a warranty along with the oled tv I will buy come black friday.
Is that same panel as lg oled for the cx because yeah I have the same issue out of warranty but lg replaced the panel. The replacement panels twice and every time we check the panel isn't a 100% free from defect we're going on our 3rd panel replacement now but I'm losing hope the original tv was barely used with just about 2600 hours.
Hi bro , I want you to help me to choose between this two TVs but I want a Tv to be save from dead pixels problems as well as to be good for movie and gaming and Tv channels I changed two oled C1 tvs because of dead pixels problems but some of my heart love the quality of oled TVS and some of it afraid of dead pixels and short life of oled tvs Now LG’s company because of warranaty make me to choose one of LG’S TVS And lam confused between this two TVS Which one do you think I Choose : 1-LG Oled CS6 55 inches NOTE : With the first option I should pay 80 dollars 2-LG QNED 806 QA 55 inches NOTE : With the second option The LG will return for me 250 dollars
OLED is being pushed by companies and their friends because it's new shiny tech but in the not so long term it shortens the lifespan of products and ads up to the obsolescence by design in order to perpetuate consumerism.
Thanks for most useful video. It's crumbling away like a stone statue, my nano 34 inch ips screen is still pristine so thats been 4 yrs on 6-12 hrs a day static content, this is why I would not own oled unless it's tandem oled.
How many hours do you have on your TV? I have the same issue on my C9 but not as bad after 10000 hours. There is another UA-camr who used an CX as a PC monitor with the same issue, but it didn't bother him. Personally, it will drive me nuts if I use it as a PC monitor.
There are a lot problems and characteristics which are not considered. For example, recently, I came across a touchscreen with digitiser which had dust trapped in between the first two glass layers. The dust plus the digitizer matrix combined, completely shaded dulled and blurred the sharpness of the pixels prisoners there in the deepest layer. A bit like an eye with cataract. (Exaggerated analogy) We live in an age of refined technology, but some physical constraints are not taken care of perfectly, possibly because it would require too much time ending being antieconomic. Similarly for update of drivers and similar problems. Devices and their parts should have system of self cleaning, or anti dust strategy or solution. And drivers should be less proprietary or continuously updated, and new OS should know that. The only os which tries to solve problems is Linux, but even that can not be perfect or do miracles in the absence of of proprietary makers cooperation
Update on my 55" LGC6 curved display: I have a shit-ton of burn-in, but hadn't noticed dead pixels, so I put my reading glasses on and got up close, finding 5 dead pixels. Also, I've had my PC and Xbox connected the whole time of ownership, and my OLED has 22,535 hours of powered on time.
I was about to get QD-OLED display for upgrade from 32'' VA 165Hz Dell panel, wich worked well so far, with good contrast ration. Was looking for bigger screen size where there are many options on ultrawide OLEDS in 34'' , but i wanted to upgrade to reasonable a little bigger display . Only sizes in 38'' as ultrawide were IPS panels , so instead of getting 45'' oled with low resolution , i made upgrade to 38'' IPS 160Hz panel 1600p. Of course i wont get contrast near to OLEDS, even VA , but there are no 38'' OLEDS in market at all. Dont know if there will be. Maybe when time comes we get Mini-LED displays to choose from and forget about issues what OLEDS holds.
Thank you for sharing the truth about organic LEDs. Buying a tv is not so much different from buying carrots or potatoes: organic is overpriced, overhyped and full of spots.
Dead Pixels sounds like a good name for a band
Wow, 2019 isn’t even that long ago.
it really isn't, and its aging like milk in the sun.
I don't have an Oled yet, but I have seen the exact same dead pixels on a plasma screen. That's the reason I'm still sticking with led. I just can't justify spending all that money on an oled tv, that may or may not last only a couple of years.
My 2.5 year old LG CX 65” with 3100 hours already has some dead and bright pixels around the perimeter. 1 year warranty is useless.
Only 3 years? Ugh, that's expensive.
LG C1 owner, noticing dead pixels on left side of screen.
I don't wanna pay that much for a OLED to get those results. I may just go with a Hisense U8G or U8H.
I was legitimately going to buy an OLED tomorrow after work.... glad I saw this. May have to do some research on a decent LED with local dimming instead. Yikes.
It's no wonder companies love to push oled. Your devices become yet another subscription you'll need to "renew"
What’s crazy is I have a 58”Panasonic plasma that has amazing blacks and no dead pixels and it’s a couple of decades old. No 4K it’s only 1080P. But man with an amazing picture.
Man it would be nice if they brought back Panasonic back here to the States I hear those TVs are the best
Terrible situation. I used an lg c6 oled for 4 years. No problems until someone finally got angry and smashed it.
I watched the 65-inch S95B at Best Buy today and it clearly outdid everything else in the store in term of vivid colors and by a long shot. Hoping to hear some resolution on this issue.
my plasma has had perfect image quality for 16 years now, however 2 years ago it began developing a buzzing sound
2019 C9.
all 3 of my panels are getting dead pixels, no more oleds for me. I wonder why no one is talking about this.
how likely is this same thing gonna happen to lg c3 2023 model ? plus how much brightness you keep all the time ?
I steer clear of OLED panels, convinced that the burn-in problem persists despite manufacturers' claims of improvement. It appears they prioritize the cost savings and higher profits OLED offers, blatantly disregarding consumer experience.
Got a 77” C1 from Costco with a *7* Year Warranty - for *$1900* before tax. That’s what I call a secure investment…
Thank you for doing this.
why then i never saw in my whole life this dead pixels on smartphones ? Me , my gf , best friends using whole life oled smartphones with oleds , and never saw this problem . They start some yellow after 3-5 years , yes , but dead pixels ....
I have an LG E7 OLED from 2018 and have no dead pixels and the TV is still working fine.
Exactly the way mine looks! And I was worried about burn in. I wonder why the edge is where most appear?
ips pixel also die like that, mine lasted for about 5 years before they started dyeing in the corners.
I hope this isn't the c1 in couple of years.
Just noticed a dead pixel on my NEW Nintendo Switch Oled, I’ve had it for max 3 months and haven’t dropped it once. So if this is the case with Oled I should of just stayed with the original Switch
Will BestBuy replace a TV if you have the 5 year warranty for dead pixels?
Yes they will, that is why EW so costly with them.
If the warranty was from BestBuy
Here I was planning to go with a 77-inch LG C1 because the price has been dropping and now after yesterday's talk of how update issues you had with the S95B could be in LG C1s already and now this pixel issue it is starting to look like I should go back to my plan to buy an inexpensive Sony, Samsung, or LG 75-inch LCD for $700 to $1200.
Hold on, I’m aware of the S95B update fiasco, but what about the C1 went wrong too?
Just saying, even if it's largest size is only 65in the U8G is a really darn nice option, got it on sale for 800$ on prime day recently and it's been well worth it for the price vs the lower end Samsung/LG/Sony tvs by far
i have 3 phones with amoled , and never saw pixels like that ... all phones working 4-5 years and nothing. Maybe its TV problems only ?
This is exactly why I'm hesitant to buy a new laptop with an OLED... My current Zephyrus is 5 years old and could go longer. It would drive me nuts to know that every time I'm using it, I'm just wearing it out.
so what Led can I buy in EU that has good black levels and little blooming? US U8G is not available in EU.
It looks like the panel has become unsealed. When OLED panels become exposed to oxygen/moisture, they degrade extremely rapidly hence the pixels around the edges failing.
lg 27 oled gaming monitor 27gr95qe same problem??
Too early to know. The oled monitor market is still very new.
Nightmare, 3 years is nothing, my last CRT lasted like 20 years, perfect until the day i upgraded it, things are just not made to last these days.
What would you pick? A OLED display with Intel procesor I5? Or a LED/IPO display with I7 procesor?
How many hours of use before the pixels started dying?
I use mine for a PC gaming monitor and can still return it if it isn’t going to last very long.
Okay, this was super interesting to see. I have bought the LG OLED65G19LA OLED back in the middle of 2021 and so far I have no dead pixel, I hope it stays that way for a long time of course. My sister has an Oled TV for years now and has no dead pixels?
UA-camrs push OLED so hard because most of them have deals with LG and they will just get a replacement screen from the company, these screens are far from perfect.
If you get an Oled make sure you get a 5 year warranty.
2:31 something similar actually happened on my mom's samsung tablet when i was a kid. Damn my 8 year old HP 22es still performing flawlessly till date.
65G1, top right, one dead pixel so far. Occasional usage.
Only found it today thanks to this video.
😉👍
Should I buy Best Buy’s extended warranty? I bought the LG C1 on July 27th. I still have time to get the warranty
Do you think the LG C1 would get dead pixels like these too?
I bought an LG CX 48 in 2021 and the edge around the entire panel is peppered just like this. What a disaster.
My 2020 Cx it’s dying really bad. Check out the latest video to see the issue
How Many hours you got on this piticular oled tv ?
Is the dead pixel because of OLED, whatabout in IPS?
Hey Quantum, My A8h looks the same only 200 hours on the panel, will you buy another woled?
Can you recommend a 1080p or higher tv that’s around 38” or less? I’m looking for one for a dorm and I don’t want a huge one
For me when i'm gaming I mostly stick LED's and OLED's would be for movie watching.
Just not sold on OLED for long term gaming.
My LG 65C8 also has a lot of dead pixels all around the tv edges especially on top edge of the screen otherwise no burn-in
YOUR VIDEOS ARE SO VALUABLE
I think this might be related to that particular monitor as people with OLED TV’s older than this monitor don’t have this issue
damn. i WANT the look of oled so bad but i guess ill stick to IPS
How many years did it take to get this amount of damage? You're making me second guess buying a C1
0:49
Wow I was going to buy an Oled laptop too. Screw that, I'll look for something else....
Sorry this is off topic I just want to know what you think with the question I am going to ask you. I have a Sony A1E. Is it worth updating to the A95K which should be available soon? I can’t watch HDR with this set, everything is so dark, especially inside buildings and night time content. What do you think/
So what's the best tv for gaming none OLED
Does warranty not cover it?
Maybe QD OLED doesn't have this issue or newer OLEDs with heatsinks? Well you just reinforced my decision to buy a warranty along with the oled tv I will buy come black friday.
Truly shocking, the sooner we get self emissive micro-LED monitors/laptops the better, thats the ultimate in screen technology.
i have a 2017 LG 65" OLED. Still looks perfect without burn in or dead pixels.
Is it not possible to fix/replace the display?
The Legend lives.. always teaches me something new!!
How did you persuade LG to replace your CX panel out of warranty? I just discovered my 2.5 year old 65” CX is littered with dead pixels today.
Bought my Samsung S95B 2 years ago - no dead pixels or burnin at all
I just can't wait for your review of the hisense U8h and u9h.
Hi bro , I want you to help me to choose between this two TVs but I want a Tv to be save from dead pixels problems as well as to be good for movie and gaming and Tv channels
I changed two oled C1 tvs because of dead pixels problems but some of my heart love the quality of oled TVS and some of it afraid of dead pixels and short life of oled tvs
Now LG’s company because of warranaty make me to choose one of LG’S TVS
And lam confused between this two TVS
Which one do you think I Choose :
1-LG Oled CS6 55 inches
NOTE : With the first option I should pay 80 dollars
2-LG QNED 806 QA 55 inches
NOTE : With the second option The LG will return for me 250 dollars
Meanwhile my 4:3 LCD that's TN, still looks perfect after 20 years.
is qled better in this aspect then ?
OLED is being pushed by companies and their friends because it's new shiny tech but in the not so long term it shortens the lifespan of products and ads up to the obsolescence by design in order to perpetuate consumerism.
Oled is perfect for smartphones but not for tvs or monitors

There is another UA-camr who used an CX as a PC monitor with the same issue, but it didn't bother him. Personally, it will drive me nuts if I use it as a PC monitor.
Thanks for this, I will hold off from OLED for my work/gaming needs.
How many hours of use you had with that brother?
If I recall you said your a8g had dead pixel out of the box. Idk I guess I'm in denial but I just hope they don't all do this.
There are a lot problems and characteristics which are not considered.
For example, recently, I came across a touchscreen with digitiser which had dust trapped in between the first two glass layers.

Did you have a pixels refresh function
Warranty?
Same things happened with my LG C9..
Thank you so much brother for help me ❤
You're welcome. Glad i could help👍
thanks man i was about to get me an oled laptop think im just going with mini led, or might get the legion 7i pro they don't have mini led option
3 years with 3 different sony oleds, no dead pixels or burning yet.
Thank you. Bought VA.
so just in 3 years
Thank you for this video, I had never even heard of this issue before today.
If it's due to pixels dying, how come it's just mostly on the border? Sorry if that's a dumb question? 😅 I just wanted to understand why
😅I mean they are very dead pixels....can't really explain why they died that way.
I try to get asus zenbook oled but after seeing this , my mind to buy inclined towards MACBOOK air M1 2020
Even i got sam issue with my asuse s14 oled. After warranty period
The same problem in oled Tv
I’ll stick to my lcd
God damn it now what I don’t want to go with led tvs damn blooming is very en evitable 🙆🏽♂️
I was about to get QD-OLED display for upgrade from 32'' VA 165Hz Dell panel, wich worked well so far, with good contrast ration.
