    Hello everyone, in today's video we will be discussing the disappearance of Quang Trong Than (66) who disappeared on Hiking day trip in August of 2022. He was with some friends and they were hiking Split Mountain which is Considered a difficult hike. At some point around 3 to 4 pm the group got separated and Quang was never seen again, despite weeks of over a dozen agencies searching for him.
    We will also be discussing the disappearance and tragedy surrounding the Titan submersible that was on its way to view the Titanic when roughly an hour and 45 minutes into the dive they lost communication with their mother ship and a huge international search operation was launched.
    My thoughts and prayers go out to Quangs family and loved ones, and to all those that lost their lives on the submersible. My thoughts and prayers also go out to all the search and rescue members in both cases🙏🙏
    Thank you for watching🙏

    The Titan guy was a narcissistic, Ego maniac who refused to have experienced people work in his sub. He didn't want old white guys. That's a quote from him. Diversity is great, but this guy had serious issues not using experienced people. Money and Ego can be deadly

    • @NickyBlue99
      @NickyBlue99 11 місяців тому

      Lol if you see his work force there isn't even any diversity. It's just younger white guys that he could pay less for the "opportunity " to work for his company. Plus, they would be less likely to point out safety issues or have the experience to know what is or isn't safe.

    • @toastercatx
      @toastercatx 11 місяців тому

      It's ridiculous to suddenly demand diversity in a field which benefits hugely from decades of experience. Is it fair that old white men are dominant in deep sea exploration? No, it's the hangover of discouraging women and minorities from STEM which is being addressed but takes time to recover from. It could also be argued that young people have less desire to risk their lives when it's really not necessary 😂

    • @TheQueensWish
      @TheQueensWish 11 місяців тому

      What diversity? He had no diversity. He had himself. Himself an old white guy. It makes me so mad that people like yourself take any tragedy and lay it at the feet of diversity. If there was no diversity the pyramids and Great Wall of China would have never gone up, not to mention our very own White House. So blame him. He did it himself.

      Stockton Rush was a Republican.
      Mad Mike Hughes was a Republican.
      Republicans all refer to government regulations as "government overreach" in order to parrot Fox News talking points. They also have narcissistic tendencies. The good news is there's frequently a Darwin Award waiting for them.

    Regarding no one hearing a scream or yell... most people when they encounter a sudden change in environment that could lead to death (like falling into a sink hole the opens beneath where they're walking, or falling from a height or unto a crevice) don't scream or yell like you would see in a movie. Usually, the extreme amount of anxiety and panic makes yelling or screaming impossible as they try to process what is going on. That or the walls of the craves could have dampened any yells.

    Hey Bryan, hope you're having a great day also. I'm like you, claustrophobic, I also have no desire to go to outer space or go down into the ocean. For other people though that's what makes them tic, going beyond what regular people would want. As far as the millionaires go, these people have pretty much done everything they could ever want to do, so when something new pops up. they're ready to go. And I understand at least one of them had an interest in the Titanic. I believe the other one had already gone to space with Jeff Bezos. At the end of the day it's still a tragedy that they lost their lives, especially the young man. His dreams of life were cut short, and also the family members left behind have to live with this. 🙏🙏

    Somebody wrote on IG, "Rich people ignore safety and sink a vessel. Update: About 100 years later they do it again." This submersible made at least 20 dives, which clearly comprised the integrity of the vehicle. I find it incredibly irresponsible on the part of the Oceangate team to have allowed this to happen. And that poor kid was petrified to go, I read. James Cameron (who has been to the Titanic 33 times) said he knew Monday morning the sub was at the bottom next to the Titanic and referenced all the wasted manpower looking for these five passengers. The whole thing is truly tragic, considering it was 100 percent preventable.

    *Never* go deep sea exploring in a carbon fibre craft!! No matter how thick the hull is...also, if it imploded, then there won't be any bodies in tact. They would've been ripped apart with the craft. 13000 ft under water is a lot of pressure. It woulda crushed in on itself and then exploded like a bomb! They won't recover anything from them, unfortunately.

    The CEO, Stockton Rush was warned about the safety issues in 2018, and the man who spoke up about the safety issues was fired. The lives that were lost is tragic, but the CEO's hubris is obscene. As far as remains go, there is literally nothing left to recover. It's just such a shame that reckless people all too often seem to take others down with them..
    In other news, human remains were found at Mt. Baldy the other day right around the area where actor Julian Sands went missing. I have a suspicion that the remains belong to him. And as far as closure goes, at least his family will get him back. 😢

    Two points I must make here are (1) hikers seem to think " this will never happen to me - died or just get lost" . This happens repeatedly too often that people and the search costs/dangers that SAR people must do seems like people/hikers need to sign waivers to hike or be ready to hock up some SAR costs once reported @ $6.5 million and unknown subsequent recovery/investigation cost for people (in submersible) should be be found dead or injured. Private for-profit commercial adventure company seems the likely payor, hopefully they have liability insurance for these activities. This is why we have life insurance, automobile insurance, and homeowner insurance policies as the standard for liabilities of our choice. If poor or mostly minority people were the victims of hiking errors like we see all the time, the public sector and law enforcement agencies would be complaining about certain people exploiting SAR and such services for free. This is political to say such a non-political topic, but it is true and secondly (2) the submersible event is just as political when a bunch of rich guys use uncertified deep sea equipment in a voluntarily adventure trip that was clearly dangerous die in a accident. Then inter-national agencies costs of $6.5 million dollars that someone private should pay when billionaires and millionaires for the rich guys. Yes, I feel compassion for the loss of life in all cases that you reported here. All of these guys choose to undertake the hiking or deep sea quest. In a day of accountability, do this only apply to the average joes and Susie? I am not being or acting cruel, but with dwindling taxpayer monies and other allocated funds, it will come to a reality that some will get the benefit of rescue and others will not. Who makes the value determination of a person's life and what spoken/written criterion will be publicly applied. Right now, the standard is very subjective and varies often based on the amount of media coverage that these events attract. Someone is already making these critical life or death decisions for missing people and no particular explanations are given when the decisions are being made. This was a mouth full, but people dying like this bothers me more due the seemingly senseless losses that could be easily prevented as you say Brian.

    There are texts from OceanGate in which he was telling potential people that it was "less dangerous than going on a helicopter or even scuba diving". So they may have signed a waiver but were they truly informed of the real risk?

    Keep in mind that just because something is built specifically for something does not make it better. Making your own proprietary remote control for the steering of this vehicle is just a ridiculous expense with more potential for failure because of a lack of testing. Why do that when you have one readily available that has years of testing and redundancy at a fraction of the cost AND can easily have multiple backups on board. Even the US military and Contactors are turning to this technology in their new remote controls as well as the new prototype design of the next gen Abrams Tank with all three crew situated in one compartment controlling the tank, guns and other systems using the same type of game controllers. So them doing this is not as appalling as the news media is making it out. In fact, utilizing off the shelf components for things like lighting and other non-essential parts of the vehicle is not a dangerous cost cutting measure and I would be amazed to discover that any of these were the cause of the accident.
    It is more likely the cause was either accumulated stress on the joints where the ends attached to the carbon fiber cylinder (mixed materials flex and expand at different rates) or potentially a overall design flaw involving the instrument housing on the exterior, a small glass pressure sphere near the stern that may have ruptured and acted as a depth charge causing a secondary implosion of the main pressure chamber.
    As for the coms, VLF (Very Low Frequency) text messaging is normal as the only source of communications for these deep sea submersibles as it is the only way to get a signal that deep unless it is a tethered vehicle. It is what is used to communicate with our nuclear submarines. The messaging capability is short and normally abbreviated and often uses coded messages to make the transmissions brief like a number code to designate a condition or emergency so they do not have to send a long message. In case of USN submarines it is often just a message telling the submarine to surface to a depth where it can raise its mast and receive a radio/satellite signal with a degree of urgency attached to it.

      Elevators scare me to death. A submarine would send me into a panic attacks immediately. No way.

    You have nit done your usual good research on this topic. Sevwral things you claim are known not to be true eg boeing and nasa did NOT have any design involvement only an agreement to use their facilities. A lot of new information has come out that you seem to be unaware of.
