This show is a great proof of concept. Two big things for me stand out so far: 1. I agree with other commenters, that there should be a unified tone (perhaps the guest judge dials in a tone on rented/ borrowed gear for the shoot). Contestants plug their guitars into the same rig. 2. Backing tracks. Maybe even showcasing local bands to come in and lay down/submit some basic riffs and grooves for solos to shine over. The elimination aspect is wicked. I enjoy the "shredding" of the name. The hosting and editing are spot on. I also enjoy the length of each episode. Hopefully this inspires more applicants! It has inspired me to become a patron haha
I'm enjoying the series. I think what we're getting to see is how hard it is to be a studio-ready shredder. Not just technique, but being able to improv shred-style on something as simple as a nursery takes a lot of practice and dedication. Kuddos to the guitarists with the guts to do this at any skill level.
One of the first assignments I give my students is to take the major scale and find every childhood song they remember. It is a great tool to reinforce the scale shape and how to navigate hearing relative tones. I lover seeing how far this technique can be taken.
Jason Lee Yeah, over all the playing isn't terribly interesting, but he was the only one that was technically proficient, yet Alex tells him he's playing "out of his league" pretty much. It just seems odd to me.
himalyan mountain I know about Alex. Harmony and complexity has little to do here, the show is about pure technique, and there's like two contestants that seem like they've played for more than a year.
When I first started studying guitar & violin at 9yrs old, these were a lot of the songs they taught us to learn melody. This is still a great exercise to try with any non-metal melody. Really digging this.
As a casual fan, I dig the show. I`m sure as it progresses and attracts a wider audience, it`ll get more unknown and amazing guitarists. Be interested in seeing bass players and drummers down the road.
I think it would nice to hear the shredders opinions on how they think they did personally after each performance. It would be cool to learn a little bit more about the players.
Ric is accually a good friend of mine and i have have seen him do things on the guitar that would make the others contestants head spin. He just owns it
I like this show, but a couple of things i would like to see- backing tracks for the soloists. This is a shred contest, not a rhythm one. Second, set a tone for these people. I know they all want to bring their tones, but you can tell most of them have bedroom tones. This never works in a live setting. Get them some mesas, some Marshall’s, and set up a universal tone that they could all dig. I guarantee you, if they had Skolnick’ stone, they would all play better....
I guess a big problem with setting a universal tone for everyone to use is not everyone may like the set tone. I agree a better tone can improve your playing as it can give you a confidence boost and other things etc. But if you are forced to use a tone you don't happen to like then that can negatively impact your playing. However, i do think something needs to be done since some guitarists like to use loads of effects which can mask mistakes. This can put them at an advantage since it's harder for the judges to tell if they really nailed that sweep or not. A good example is Alex (the contestant) yeah he played fast, but not always clean. If you watch him compete against Frankie in the final, someone who plays fast and very cleanly, the difference is night and day. Sorry to jump video but a great example is in episode 5 at 1:20. He plays this descending run on the E string; while it may not be too obvious to the judges, from our point of view we can see he's blagging it. If his effects weren't protecting him, he wouldn't be able to do that and thus it's an even playing field, or fret board haha. So maybe a good middle ground would be "Ok guys, here's the amps, good amps, set your distortion, your overdrive, whatever, maybe a wah wah pedal here and there but no crazy effects going on 24/7, we'll sound test you in a minute to see if it's articulate" Don't get me wrong sometimes his effects worked really well but they shouldn't be his default tone on the show for reasons above. Sorry if i deviated haha
@@Slashhead1 This show didn't really showcase him well. I have worked with him and trust me, he is incredibly good and one of the best dudes I have worked with as a player and a person. To be fair, it didn't showcase many of them well. Ric is amazing too from what I can see.
The concept is amazing, and the hosts are doing a great job. Give it a chance to go through a couple of iterations. I'm sure it will attract amazing contestants over time.
I guess now that Darryl is gone, I can say that there are better players than me in the show. I'm strictly average but the 3 who left were just too fucking bad.
Some of these guys are sooooo fucking far from being consistent enough to take part in a competition. This would be far more interesting with seasoned, professional musicians. Also, Frankie C is so far above the competition as far as his raw talent, consistency and adaptability it's hard to call this really a competition.
Caitlin Morffwous but how do assemble a panel of judges with clout enough to do that show. Imo it's more fun out here in the more grey areas. I think Your show would be instant fist fights and diva tantrums.
I wish these were longer videos so we could see each player working on there solo. It'd also be nice to see all the judges talk more. Overall it feels really rushed. This would be a really awesome show if it was about 10-15 minutes longer for some development and some tension and release with all involved. I'm sure there is a reason for it being the length it is..
The thing I keep noticing is that, despite their picking speeds being far beyond anything I could even attempt, their bending accuracy is all over the shop!
Why is the dry signal being put through to my left speaker on some of these? It makes everything sound like it's being played sloppier than it should sound.
Just noticed they had a washburn dimebolt on the wall. Which are very rare these days now. Judging by the fretboard though it looks to be one of the boogie street/funky munkey reissues which are rare in their own right. Just cool to see
I’d love to see you guys expand on this idea and keep more of it coming. Like doing the same thing for drummers and bassists. At the end of the day, I just love seeing fresh new stuff from banger. Been a subscriber since you had about 400 subs. If i didn’t live in England I would have applied for this my self.
The bear went over the mountain has already been turned into a metal song by Green Jello. In fact, they played at the second concert I ever saw. TESTAMENT, Green Jello, and Pro Pain. Awesome concert. My first mosh pit.
Another great ep! I wish I didn't spend my life playing video games. Everyone is great, but like The Highlander and the rules of this show, there can only be one.
Love the idea of the show. Hope it continues to develop. If this series wasn't shot in one day it sure feels like it was. I hope they include some sort of backing track/band, feels really dry without that energy behind these players. Hopefully with some budget they could up the prizes and cast a wider net for more guitarists.
Frankie C is probably the most technically proficient of the group, but for me, Zubair’s performance was the most enjoyable in this and the first episode
Frankie C is very impressive. His guitar heroes surely must be Yngwie Malmsteen,Jason Becker,Michael Angelo Batio etc etc. Seeing his sweep picked passages is so awe-inspiring. Keep on shredding Frankie!😎🤘🤘🤘
This is the first reality competition I've ever watched that I've agreed with all the eliminations. I kinda wish there was more energy though. Maybe some backing drumming or something?
Haha someone forgot to turn of the di track for frankies mix. You can hear the clean on one side and the distortion on the other. This show is hilarious dude.
Contestants were given the challenges about one week in advance of the taping, including their kids song assignments. It was a lot of work for them in a short time!

Thanks for the feedback and welcome!

4:14 - Today I learned “for he’s a jolly good fellow” is actually something called “ The bear went over the mountain”
I was thinking the same thing.
Love the series, but you guys need a new sound guy when it comes to the guitars...
And stop leaving most of the tone to a single pedal, amps can help a lot to get a good disorted sound.
The sound production was terrible
I agree.
Right, how do they let that happen? The sound of the guitar should be one of the most important aspects.
mayb the gtr players pick their tone.. alex skolnick played n his tone was mighty fine
Siick! im rooting for the guy with the Mercyful Fate shirt. Dudes fast and creative, and i love KD.
Oh, an episode everyday !!!
One of the first assignments I give my students is to take the major scale and find every childhood song they remember. It is a great tool to reinforce the scale shape and how to navigate hearing relative tones. I lover seeing how far this technique can be taken.
Alex looks like he regret having signed for this judge spot.
Definitely!
I thought he was joking in the first Episode but Alex just doesn't fuck around!
I'm loving the variety in challenges!
3:49
We need a whole lecture series.
Please and thank you.
I whole heartedly agree, something super uptight and stuffy feeling. with subject matter that is anything but. guaranteed funny as hell.
Darrel survived by the skin of his teeth the last 2 episodes. It was only a matter of time.
man this is great, if this was a TV show I'd watched it everyday!!
You can! New show every day this week!
Love this series. I hope they do one for bassists, drummers and vocalists as well.
Steely Phil there are enough shows for vocalists. I agree with the rest though
Extreme metal vocalists hasn't been done yet though!
True
BANGERTV - All Metal Do It!!!!
And rhythm guitarists......
If Alex said that to Frankie, at least I hope he tore all the other contestants a new one. Seriously, Frank is the only one that can play well here.
Alex Z is also good. but his guitar tone is awful, too much EQO
Eagle
For sure. He seems to know what he's doing, but I can make out like half the notes he plays at most through that tone.
Well he was right. After the riffs all dude did was sweeps. No variety. He kicks ass dont get me wrong.
Jason Lee
Yeah, over all the playing isn't terribly interesting, but he was the only one that was technically proficient, yet Alex tells him he's playing "out of his league" pretty much. It just seems odd to me.
himalyan mountain

My 2 favorites are still in the competition... Frankie C and Alex

1 minute into the video and were shredding. i like this show. no bs.
Thanks man. Our philosophy was to pack as much playing into each episode as possible.
Man, this show is fantastic, great job BangerTV! :)
Damn, Sim shredded the fuck out of “skip to my lou”! Great job! This show has been a lot of fun. Keep it up!
The show keeps getting better!
this show should air on Saturday mornings network tv .. kids would groove on it and get a new generation of metal heads
As a casual fan, I dig the show. I`m sure as it progresses and attracts a wider audience, it`ll get more unknown and amazing guitarists. Be interested in seeing bass players and drummers down the road.

I love this show!!! I will keep watching. Cool concept.
Ric is accually a good friend of mine and i have have seen him do things on the guitar that would make the others contestants head spin. He just owns it
That was fun !!thanks banger for some awesome stuff !!!
The literal shredding at the end just never gets old🤣
nice show...thumbs up! i hope more episodes of this, more new contestants

Rhythm has EVERYTHING to do with being able to play tasty leads. The best example is Paul Gilbert.
About the tones...yeah, they suck.
Although Paul himself tends to (jokingly - but hell he always jokes) say he has no feel of rhythm anymore once he goes all-out :D
I guess a big problem with setting a universal tone for everyone to use is not everyone may like the set tone. I agree a better tone can improve your playing as it can give you a confidence boost and other things etc. But if you are forced to use a tone you don't happen to like then that can negatively impact your playing.

Derryl is not a man of many words
His words are as limited as his talent on the guitar.
ajinkya reddy oh damn son
Fupa Mastah I'm sure you agree xD
ajinkya reddy well I am not in the position to judge, buuut yeah I agree
@@Slashhead1 This show didn't really showcase him well. I have worked with him and trust me, he is incredibly good and one of the best dudes I have worked with as a player and a person. To be fair, it didn't showcase many of them well. Ric is amazing too from what I can see.
What's with the guitar sounds? Did the editor forget to amp sim the DI signal in post or something??
CorwynsWorld cab mic is propably faulty. Or they added the jury overhead mic and didnt change the phase
I love this show!!!! Please do more!!!!
Best release to date for sure.
this is such an amazing show! I could watch these all day thank you!
I mean, all these people are better than me, but for a show called shredders of metal its kinda disappointing
Exactly what I was thinking.
The concept is amazing, and the hosts are doing a great job. Give it a chance to go through a couple of iterations. I'm sure it will attract amazing contestants over time.
i am hoping this! though imo metal shredding seems like a bit of a dated/overrated thing, no? All I get from this is a lot of guitar noodling
there are undiscovered guys out there who, though their calibre isn't as high as Alex's, are able to blend musicality with technique.
I guess now that Darryl is gone, I can say that there are better players than me in the show. I'm strictly average but the 3 who left were just too fucking bad.
These are so great......
Enjoying this too much..."Where the adds kick ass".
Cool Host......reminds me of Geico's "It's So Easy, A Caveman Can Do It" Commercials!!
Some of these guys are sooooo fucking far from being consistent enough to take part in a competition. This would be far more interesting with seasoned, professional musicians. So you want to see a bunch of Steve Vai doing a competition? That would go on forever.
yea these guys aren’t very good. and the guitars sound shitty. i’ve been playing for 20 years. since i was 7. if i knew about this id totally compete.
Greatest show ever made!!
This series is soo great
Good job, love the episodes!
Yo keep up the great content guys, loving this
This is the best series of how not to shred.
Awesome show

you guys are great, putting clean guitar on L and drive on R. u guys are amazing for that
best episode so far
Love this channel !!!
excellent show!
The thing I keep noticing is that, despite their picking speeds being far beyond anything I could even attempt, their bending accuracy is all over the shop!
I ca t wait for this to be scaled up and sold to Netflix.
4:12 why do I hear a clean tone on my left and a distorted tone on my right. Im wearing headphones
Why is the dry signal being put through to my left speaker on some of these? It makes everything sound like it's being played sloppier than it should sound.
Loving this show very entertaining!
He tall guy killed this one!! I’m surprised they weren’t that into it
Nice series so far
Just noticed they had a washburn dimebolt on the wall. Which are very rare these days now. Judging by the fretboard though it looks to be one of the boogie street/funky munkey reissues which are rare in their own right. Just cool to see
Frankie C is really in a different class when it comes to technique and composition. Sim also has 'it', but hasn't got the years Frankie C has.
I’d love to see you guys expand on this idea and keep more of it coming. Like doing the same thing for drummers and bassists.

blaynes guides are the most hilarious intersections!
is the signal split left clean and right distortion because it sound like pure asssss.
Keep up the great job Banger TV! This channel is the best Metal channel because of quality of content, variety and uniqueness.
Thank You \m/
The bear went over the mountain has already been turned into a metal song by Green Jello. In fact, they played at the second concert I ever saw. TESTAMENT, Green Jello, and Pro Pain. Awesome concert. My first mosh pit.
9:43 the most stoic nod ever.
thanks
ALEX SKOLNICK's facial expressions are so funny and cool...and metal of course.
Now I wanna hear Macabre 👀
Another great ep! I wish I didn't spend my life playing video games. Everyone is great, but like The Highlander and the rules of this show, there can only be one.
you should bring back this kind of format.
Sim isn't as talented as Alex but you can tell he has passion and a true appreciation for Metal. Good things will come to him in his career 🤘🤘
I 100% agree so far with the choices in all episodes.
Love the idea of the show. Hope it continues to develop. If this series wasn't shot in one day it sure feels like it was. I hope they include some sort of backing track/band, feels really dry without that energy behind these players. Hopefully with some budget they could up the prizes and cast a wider net for more guitarists.
How do you enter the shredders if metal tv show?
Frankie better win. It's obvious he's the best one. Good picking mechanics and articulation.
Good fun
I KNOW FRANKIE C!!! He plays in a bad called Vesperia!! sweet band!!
Please let us know how to get on this show
Don't listen to these videos with just the left earphone.
Shredders of talent
Blayne is a great host! loving the show
Its bothering me how nice they all are to each other😜 . Anyway, great stuff! 😊
How many hours are given to them for their arrangement? Or was it supposedly on the spot?
If you're using an external sound card, switch it to mono, and the guitar sounds a million times better.
The fuckin 1st guys ending blew me away,
This makes me feel a lot better about my playing. Holy shit
bravo! BANGERTV GREAT SHOW!
Awesome
This is the first reality competition I've ever watched that I've agreed with all the eliminations. I kinda wish there was more energy though. Maybe some backing drumming or something?
Haha someone forgot to turn of the di track for frankies mix. You can hear the clean on one side and the distortion on the other. This show is hilarious dude.
Why no effects on their tone? Also, distortion on right channel and clean on left?
"You've been shredded " lmfaoooooo
it's clean in one side of my headphones and distorted on the other side
I'm really digging this so far, but the show needs to be longer! More dialogue, more challenges!
I stand corrected then. Enjoy the format.
I love this series. Needs to be on mainstream TV. Sick of pop talent shows. How about metal talent shows?
How long were they given to adapt the songs?
Contestants were given the challenges about one week in advance of the taping, including their kids song assignments. It was a lot of work for them in a short time!
Ok that’s it, where do I apply for season 2?
This is a pilot season but when we make Season 2 there will be another open call.
