Great video, Ma’am, I’m in third year of MBBS. Is internal medicine non-US IMG ( no green card or no permanent residency) friendly program? Is it possible for a non-US IMG to get into internal medicine program?
Hi Divya, thanks for the video! I am a medical student at Gandhi medical college Hyderabad, India. My college unfortunately is not subscribed to VSLO Home Institution List. Also, my school does not have other affiliations with US schools. How can I find US schools/hospitals that accept IMGs for USCE? Most of them from what I saw require my college on VSLO list. I did not do USMLE Step 1 yet, I just finished my 4th year exams and would like finish Clinical Electives first. I have the US tourist visa already.
Thank you for this informative video, I highly appreciate it. I also wanted to ask about malpractice insurance, where can I get it from and how much does it typically cost?
Great video, Is it possible to take break in internship to do clinical rotation in USA? If next is implemented, because after 12 months of internship (mandatory) next 2 must be given.
Hi, thanks for the very informative video. I would like to know about the malpractice insurance as well as that was also listed as a priority for USCE in many universities. Can you share some information regarding that as well?
I was not required to have a malpractice insurance. However if a university requires it, it'll be best if you email them and ask which they would prefer you to buy.
I don't understand 1 thing ... please please answer mam. If I don't have a USA B1/B2 visa ( But I do have my passport) I can't apply for electives ? I knew before that I could get a visit visa If I am accepted for rotation ? Mam please answer
Hi Divya, your video is very informative. Thanks for doing such a nice job and service to other aspiring IMGs! There is some confusion in terms of what is considered USCE. There are so many names - Externships, Clerkships, Clinical rotations, Observerships/Shadowing etc. Can you please advise on what we should look for while applying? Regards.
Hey! Thank you for your kind words:) Externship - Clinical hands on rotation that you do after you graduate. Clinical rotations/ Clerkships - Hands on rotation as a student. Observerships/ Shadowing - Rotations which are not hands on, done as a student or graduate. Clerkship > Externship > Observership.
You can apply without visa to few places, but if you are accepted you need a visa. So its best you first get a visa appointment at least and then apply otherwise you might waste your money in application and not be able to attend the clerkship.
Hi mam ! I have a question. Am i eligible for USMLE if my medical college is listed in wdoms but there is no sponsor notes? How can I got this sponsor notes for my medical college?and how much time will it take?
Really informative video 👍 Did you get these rotations directly or through some agencies? As currently many have changed to vslo and not providing rotations to international students
I got 2 months via the university application and the third month via an agency. A lot of options have opened up now. Just apply in advance and make sure to look at their requirements.
Hi ma'am. I am a final year med student. Regarding crri extension, could you explain how exactly it works. Did you do it. And if so can we do it near the end of crri. Completely confused about extension so kindly help. Thank you so much.
Internship extension- can be done for a period of 1 year from the start date of CCRI. You will have to apply to your medical board and get it accepted. It helps you to extend your graduation date. Highly recommend extending it if you anticipate taking time for your usmle exams and USCE.
@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal 1 have completed my final yr in 2019 but not yet graduated.....im thinking to get my certificate in 2023....what should i do now?
Hey! I’m in the same situation as you right now. Can you please let me know what you did? Did you extend your internship and go for USCE in your period of extension?
@@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal ah f***. I figured OET would be a logical and reasonable measure of an applicant's English skills so didn't bother looking up hospital/uni requirements🤦🏻♂️. Thanks for the info!
Great video, Ma’am, I’m a student from India. I’m willing to do elective before step 1 & TOEFL. I have gone through your video which gave me some idea regarding elective & some universities which don’t ask for step 1 & TOEFL. Please let me know when should I have to start applying for elective (how many months prior to the desired date of elective)in these universities which don’t ask / don’t require step 1& TOEFL and will provide LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION? Please suggest me some universities in NYK which don’t require step 1& TOEFL and will provide ‘letters of recommendation’. THANK YOU.

Taking break from internship tp do rotations in the US is allowed and recommended. However you need your college and council permission.
Can you please share the format for the medical school transcript? can't seem to find out.

Bcoz most have transitioned to VSLO
Thank you so much 😊. If I had already done OET, do I have to do TOEFL again?
TOEFL is required by Universities when applying for clerkships. If you are done with OET you can email the University and ask if they accept it.

TOEFL? is that needed for usmle? Or did you mean the OET?
TOEFL is needed by most universities when you apply for clerkships. OET is in place of STEP 2 CS exam and is a requirement to be ECFMG Certified.
@@DivyaSharma_KeepingitReal ah f***. I figured OET would be a logical and reasonable measure of an applicant's English skills so didn't bother looking up hospital/uni requirements🤦🏻♂️.

Hello Divya, Where did you do your rotations?
Hello! I did my rotations in New York and North Carolina :)
Hello. Can a graduate do clerkships or is it only possible to do it during med school?
It is possible during med school. As a graduate the options decrease but you can get via clerkship agencies.
Mam what is the duration of clerkship?
Minimum 3 months of total USCE is ideal.
Is it good idea to apply for USCE after step 2?
You can apply to USCE anytime. Preferably as early as possible. Most USCE require you to have step 1 scores.
