- In this video I review the brand new Super7 Ultimates Glow in the Dark Scumbug. I discuss the packaging, why this figure looks great and how I hope Super7 makes more GITD variants of 1990 Ultimates, compare it to the original Ultimates Scumbug (including my thoughts on that figure), show the toy in action in the dark, and more!

@@supermarioplushboi85 yeah! So far I only got jab, but I’d like to get them all. They were such a cool toy line that I slept on back in the day. I even told my grandmother one time to take Ripster back so I could get Web Armor spiderman. I was really into that armor at the time haha but what a mistake! I broke like 3 of those figures and I bet Ripster would have been the better choice. I also still kick myself because because about 18 years ago I found a tub of them at a church flea market. I only bought two at the time. Slammu and Slash. I should have got them all!

Just a little tip on the hoses, the angle they come over the shoulders seems to matter. Try rotating them where they attach to the backpack so that they take a wider path over the top. Yours may be hugging a little too close to the head, causing them to be slightly twisted at the insertion points on the chest. When you have it correct, they feel like they hook in. They'll still come out when manipulating the figure, but it's enough to spare me from supergluing it down.
I agree with your notes on the figure. The diaphragm cut is probably my biggest gripe. Also, I wish the right foot could flex upward more. I feel like he's the one Super7 mutant that can't hit that classic squat pose.
@@SmokeForPants awesome I’ll have to see if mine works better with the hoses rotated! I agree with you 100%. The squat doesn’t work well with him at all. I’m that one promo shot they have him squatting down pretty far but I don’t think it works. Do you think he was one of the figures the four horsemen got to sculpt or someone in house?

Still waiting on the Foot Soldier review. Super 7 teased 2003 Ultimates Foot Soldiers in the fall too.
Also, I may never get my S7 Ultimates Wyrm but Neca has a toon version coming out.

I skipped GID Scumbug. I did just pick up GID Leonardo to complete the 4 GID S7 turtles.
Scumbug is the only one I'm missing.

I’m bummed out too from super7 giving up on the classic designs because of playmates meddling but like you said there’s so much awesome stuff coming out from Neca I can’t be completely upset. It’s such a shame we never even got to see General Traag in ultimates form. I’m really looking forward to Necas Wyrm. Even if characters didn’t appear in the cartoon or commercials I’d love to see Necas Fred Wolf versions of them. How about Scale tail or hothead! I just found their Bellybomb and I couldn’t even begin to tell you excited I was about that. I read his issues so many times as a kid.
It’s funny you say that about just getting mutagen ooze Leo to finish your GITD team. I still need Mikey! I plan on ordering him this month but I hate having to pay the price at bbts. I tried a few months ago to but Mikey through the shop app and it backfired on me so I’ve been extra bothered. I bought Mikey from a vender that said they were a US vender. I bought it on the app so I could pay for it in four payments. Turns out the company was a Chinese company and they disappeared from the platform soon after I ordered from them. They sent something to Boston to fake a shipment and I got completely scammed. Shop pay won’t refund my money because they take no responsibility for the items you purchase on their platform. I couldn’t believe they used something so obscure like mutagen ooze Mikey to trick me haha.

I definitely want slash eventually it would full circle complete my newer slash figures that I wanted I don’t really want the bsn line but slash is probably one of the best figures in that line as well
I haven’t seen that Bsn figure yet, but like you I don’t collect them at all. Too many Turtles already! Plus I wasn’t too impressed with the Mikey I bought from them. I like their video game damage color variants but that’s mostly it.

I can't help to think if playmates was already restricting Super7 in there sculpts. I can only assume that they didn't want Super7 doing one to one sculpts since there working on there new tmnt line. I think that's why there stopping on the vintage line and now focusing on the 2003 line.
@@robledoeugene1975 I really wish super7 could continue with the original line. Things have changed there too so I don’t even know if they’d continue to have the same quality now that the four horsemen aren’t involved. I’d like to know what they did and didn’t sculpt. I bought playmates new version of the turtles with the articulation but I haven’t opened them yet. I’m going to try and do a review.
Glow in the Dark Slash is still one of my favorite figures ever, he looks as good in the bright sun light as he does in the dark. And his colors scream 1990, in their fun fluorescent exuberance. I know this review is about Scumbug, not Slash, but I can't stop thinking about that Slash, as I watch this 😆😏
@@seanbeckett4019 haha I was having the same problem! Slash set the bar and now all I can do is compare every other GITD ultimate to him.

The issues with the sculpt is because it's digital...not that digital can't be good or anything like that ..its a valid media for this day and age ..it's just that digital is way easier to F it up ..the sculpt not being deep enough (loosing details) ..it takes a keen eye to look at something digital and see it accurately in your head ..knowing what details won't read without a physical object is hard to teach ..it's more of a trial by error learning prosses ..the render on the s7 site looks way more detailed than the actual figure..something was definitely lost in translation..also yes s7 heads are just to dam big 90% of the time ....the bros playmates portraits are ridiculous the second portraits are almost perfect size ..except Mike. Hope the head from rapper mike actually matches the green correctly
@@albatz1377 knowing super7 I wouldn’t get my hopes up with matching colors haha. I agree with you 100% about the problems with digitally sculpting these things. The overall process leads to stiff looking figures because it’s too easy to make everything perfect. You can just mirror the same arm on both sides and make minor adjustments. The originals were sculpted by hand and had imperfections. It was probably a lot easier to scrape in extra things than to have to model them on the computer. I don’t know if I’m describing it the right way. I just think originally the sculptors could use wax in hand to be more creative. Digital leads to people not pushing the exaggeration enough. The bugs seem like they were just copied and pasted around, not like the figure is a living breathing monster. I think the new ninja april and Karai are super stiff action figures too. Like you could tell that they’re the basic designs someone would model before putting the bones in place. No arching of the spine at all. They’re stance is the type of thing instructors at school would tell you not to do.
I got 2 ultimate sdcc figures and they didn't give me a free reaction figure... I feel jipped!!!

@@MarkVersion1 in the pipeline haha. I’ve gathered a crap ton of reference but haven’t begun to write anything yet. The Fred wolf reviews are really behind. They just keep pumping out more and more and I can’t keep up. I just got the lab yesterday too haha. Before I had to go on break I was working on the bugman two pack and the pizza club turtles. I’d like to finish those up first before picking a new Fred wolf review to work on. Thanks for asking though, it’s really awesome to know people are wanting to see these reviews. I plan on getting there but I don’t know exactly when is basically the answer. The Fred wolf series reviews take the longest.

@@indarkestknight1 you’re probably right. It took me like a week to get the time to put this thing together and I even forgot about that stupid arm falling off. Honestly after the past 3 years of super7 not improving their problems I’m kind of losing all good will I had for them. I wanted them to succeed, but the same problems keep happening again and again. If the line moves into 2003 only I don’t see myself staying on board. I like that cartoon a lot but not as much as the original toy designs and I can’t see myself continuing to pay $55+ for figures that aren’t as appealing with quality problems. Now If they put out a Commander Mozar or clone shredders I’d be all on top of that haha. At this point I would rather build up my collection of the playmates 2003 figures.
@@razrentals8897 Yeah I understand. But I'm officially out after Rat King and the Triceraton. Comparing super 7s offerings to what NECA has been putting out recently I just can't bring myself to put up the cash. I'm tired of feeling ripped off. Honestly I'm sure NECA will eventually get to the 2003 series seeing that they just announced the 2012 series. When they do they'll quickly catch up to S7.
@@indarkestknight1 yeah money is the major factor here. Too much money and I always know the toys are going to have quality problems. I don’t even know if I’m going to get any of the rat king wave yet. If there’s no classic figures in the next preorder wave and no continuation of the original line I don’t see any point buying the somewhat substandard Ray King. Neca’s ray king looks fantastic. Neca could basically start putting out 2003 figures now and we’d have 30 figures by the time we get 4 of super7.
@@razrentals8897 Again, I totally agree. You're right I might end up not even getting the rat king. Especially once I have the new NECA one in hand. At Comic-Con they already showed silhouettes of the next wave. It's going to be all 2003 figures. Flynn claims they going to start intercalating them but he's not the most upfront person so. Plus with all the details you showed were different from the scumbag I don't think they're going to be doing a very good job honoring the old playmates figures.

Your review convinced me to not buy him. Thanks. He's the worst of the TMNT glow-in-the-dark figures to me, other than the turtles themselves.
