I am building a Go Kart for a friend's Kid, it is an old Sears Kart Kit that He found at the Dump.
The first thing I constructed was a sliding Engine Mounting system so that the chain could be adjusted By moving the engine.
The second addition is a Roll Cage and Bumpers.
This Go Kart thing is somewhat out of my Realm as Street Rods and Rat Rod yard Tractors is more my thing.
You did a Great job on the chain tensioner. I have a couple of vehicles that them stock. One is an ATC 70 Honda and the other is a Suzuki Quad runner.
Good job, loved your creativity. You can ignore most of the negative comments and take advantage of the good advice for your next project. I liked what you accomplished on a low budget.
Thank you very much my friend , I'm really happy that you liked my project...you made my day!
Nice edit my friend!!You did a great job!

nice man! my motorcycle has the same problem. I'll do similar thing on my bike. Thanks for sharing!
Great job. I am going to add a variation of that to mine!
Thank you my friend , I hope that I helped you!
Nicely done!
Thank you my friend , I hope it was helpful!
Good idea. the gear is called an idler gear for anyone wondering.
Thank you for the clarification my friend..Share the video with your friends! :)
Chain tensioner too. 666 OUT
excellent video
I feel like I'm playing Fable with this music :)
Haha thank you my friend I hope you enjoyed it!

Mantap mister....😀👍 From Chanel Bengkel Citra Bone Indonesia.👍👍👍
Thank you very much!
This is why the motor plates to mount the motor on are elongated to adjust the slack in the chain.
Yep you are right. I was 14 when I build my go kart so I made some mistakes , one of them was to drill holes on the chassis and mount the engine , so my engine is fixed and can't be moved.
nice
Can't Kill Me Thank you!
incroyable ha ha
It was good video
Thank you , I hope it was helpful!
I had this problem with a motorized bike once, Instead of a small sprocket I just took a grinder and gutted out the middle of an old skateboard wheel and just let the chain sit and spin right in the groove.
Lol 😂 the music is so funny
How about the video?
very good too
Muito bom ficou show👍
There is a chain management system called the Chain Dragone we use on our racing karts uses a roller instead of an idler gear.
I've heard of it! Its also a really good chain tensioner. What do you think about my project?
f.kon1 kind of caveman.I am a machinist and on our karts we have sliding engine mount and use split sprockets on the axle for fast gear changes.
William Stanfield Im not going to disagree with you, but I made this project alone when I was 15 years old , having a really low budget of money, so im satisfied with this result. This project is just for fun and not racing purposes. If I make a new go kart now, its going to be much more better and contemporary :)
f.kon1 when we started in 1964 I was 9 and our chassis were tubular so we were able to slide the engine or engines into position.I had twin 2 strokes mounted.I guess your skill level is what you are exposed too.
William Stanfield let me remind you that I build this go kart from zero, having no experiece in the field of go karts. All I want was to build something to have fun with my friends. So show understanding. Also every patent I make may not be good for you, but im satisfied seeing every single homemade part working excellent and unbearable. I dont have your experience in the field, all I want is to have fun and enjoy my constructions!
Self adjustable
you just put a couple of washers under the bolts that is holding down the motor... way easier.
Yes its easier , but my patent has a spring which continuously presses the chain and keep it stretched in every chain variations. After many hours of use the chain became loosest , so i'd have to put one more washer after few months. Washer its a good solution , but its a soft option...
But thank you for the advise anyway. Do you like my project at all?
Hello, im not going to disagree with you,you made a good point. If I put it like you say its going to be safer , but in this case I dont have this option because there were no screews in the motor to hold my base! At least I put a good bearing in the gear to make sure that the whole patent its reliable! Thank you for your advise my friend , I hope you liked my project at all :D

Oi gostaria de saber como é chamado esse sistema ainda embreagem
very good video
Thank you very much my friend!
Where i can buy this adjusted ? I love it
This adjuster is 100% homemade, you can copy the desigh and build one for your own engine! :)
can you please show me the links of the kind of sprocket and clutch that u are using as well as the chain?
www.ebay.com/itm/175065546292?hash=item28c2b83e34:g:ps0AAOSwXGhhuTzV
The link is for the clutch.
I used a #42 chain and a #42 16tooth sprocket with bearing inside.
Good
Thank you!
This is the exact problem I am having with a 420cc predator engine on a YerfDog go cart. I have located the idler sprocket but cannot locate a bracket to install it with,. Can anyone be of any help on this ??
Is belt drive better than chain drive
thanks for posting. good work. there is nothing wrong with an old-fashioned chain tensioner. but, wait. in a power transmission application such as this, 'pushing' the slack inwards is Not a good idea. why. it results in TOO much contact at the sprockets; which Significantly INCREASES the rate of chain wear. oh, well. cheers
The chain is #42 and the sprocket is #40 to reduce friction between chain and sprocket. 3 years of continuously use and the chain is as new as the first day. Sorry 😂
Γεια σου φιλε καταλαβα πως εισαι ελληνας και θελω να ρωτησω κατι σχετικα με καρτ.σκεφτομαι να παρω ενα ετοιμο καρτ το οποιο χρειαζεται απλως μηχανη και θελω να βαλω μια 6.5 hp.Τι ταχυτητα πιστευεις οτι μπορω να πιασω;

@@fotis.kon1101 Ευχαριστώ πολύ φίλε.
the chain adjuster you put is not a GEAR.it is a sprocket.
A simpler solution would have been to use a stack of SAE washers under each bolt maybe three would do it on each corner
After many hours of use the chain becames loosest , so i'd have to put one more washer after few months. After many hours of use I change chain ,so brand new tentioned chain , again washers , and after few months when its loose washers again and again and again.....my patent is self adjustable and much more efficient! But thank you for your advice anyways!
Unde gasesc si eu sa cumpar un variator
where can i get a idle gear from with the holder, base n all the assemblies to do this case my chain keeps jumping off?
I bought the gear from a local shop and used my lathe to put the bearing inside. The base is homemade , I used some metal pieces, welder and lathe.
There are no gears shown in this video! There are however sprockets.
Yes we mean the same thing. I have a sprocket with a bearing inside!
f.kon1 you can buy an idler sprocket with the bearing already in it.
can you make a video about ur clutch
I hope so!
How much do u charge for this great piece i need one
I'really glad you liked it. Sorry but I dont build and sell tensioners. Feel free to build your own one based on my video! Have a nice day!
@@fotis.kon1101 That's sad I was going to ask for one also
Ok felicitar
Wea can i find parts or some similar?
Hello. I guess on a hardware store or motoparts store.
can a chain tensioner go on the INSIDE of the chain?
I guess that will be fine
Or you could add some washers under the engine mount
Yes its easier , but my patent has a spring which continuously presses the chain and keep it stretched in every chain variations. After many hours of use the chain became loosest , so i'd have to put one more washer after few months. If I change chain , I have to take out the washers again , its very annoying and time consuming. Washer its a good solution , but its a soft option...But thanks for the comment anyways! :)
Can't be wrong if it works
Very nice
Thank you!
But I thought chain tensioner were frowned upon
Would have put gear inside chin ,I believe this will eat up your chain and yes you could have raised motor I believe that would have been beeter .
Im using this gear for almost 2 years and everything if fine. After many hours of use the chain became loosest , so i'd have to put one more washer after few months. Washer its a good solution but I belive that mine is better!
Wouldn't it be much easier to shim the engine mount bolts with machine washer/ shims you can buy at Ace Hardware ? Just sayin..
After many hours of use the chain becames loosest , so i'd have to put one more washer after few months. very clever idea, it shows this kid is using his head for something other than a hat rack
Thank you very much!
👍🇧🇷
A few washers under the engine is way faster and cheeper fix.

Is that a mopep engine
Its a 212cc 6,5hp engine for many uses. ( Generators , pumps , garden machines and more)
Use a chain break and half link
After many hours of use the chain becames loosest , so i'd have to put one more washer after few months. After many hours of use I change chain ,so brand new tentioned chain , again washers , and after few months when its loose washers again and again and again.....my patent is self adjustable and much more efficient! Iove....u....Fc..
Just use some washers under the engine and the engine mount to raise the engine, a way easier😂
Yes its easier , but my patent has a spring which continuously presses the chain and keep it stretched in every chain variations. After many hours of use the chain became loosest , so i'd have to put one more washer after few months. Washer its a good solution , but its a soft option...
Yes you’re right, your paten is not dumb at all, but the washer solution will I say is a faster method, but not as good as your spring patent, maybe I will try your patent on my gokart 👍 is this a #35 sprocket/chain?
Thank you my friend, its a #41!
spring isnt tight enough
After some tests I removed 1-2 cm from the spring and made it tight enough. Good note! I hope you liked my project!
Or you can just buy a half link. Remove a full link and put in a half link. Problem solved.
After many hours of use the chain becames loosest , so i'd have to remove the half link again . After many hours of use I change chain , so brand new tentioned chain , again half link, and after few months when its loose I remove half link again pfff...my patent is self adjustable and much more efficient! But thank you for your advice anyways I apreciate it!
Unfortunatley, you did it wrong. Always put the tensioner on the loose side of the chain (or belt). This is the rule and it is based on physics.
Hello , Im not going to disagree with you , but I didn't had the option to put the tensioner on the other side because there were no screews on the motor to hold my base. If I wanted to be 100% right I should have put it in the other side. By I think in this occassion its ok, because both sides of the chain loose almost the same..so there is no problem at all :) Thank you for the advise anyway , I hope you liked my project!
If it works, it works! On my lawn mower racer it would definetly not work out, thus I mentioned it. Keep on building.
You are right! There is no room for mistakes at the level of competition. Thank you again for your kind words! Have a nice day!
No you are wrong he did put it on the lose side take a good look again...
Lenny M I watched carefully again: you are right
Wich chain is this #35 or 420
Its #42
pulla reddy
This exists since 20 years..
So?
@@fotis.kon1101 what "so?"
You write about "your patent" (at 00:23) - it's not your patent. plain and simple.
A patent is a form of intellectual property that gives its owner the legal right to exclude others from making, using, or selling an invention for a limited period of years in exchange for publishing an enabling public disclosure of the invention.
-
It's not that hard to understand is it?
@@h34p yeah, as I can see you are really good on wikipedia copy paste. There are hundreds types of chain tensioners out there. Every tensioner based on an standard model. Of course the chain tensioner is not my patent, but this spesific one including the way I adjust it in my motor is my design.
@@fotis.kon1101 Would you rather enjoy if i put it in my words additionally if there is already a definition about it on the net? Ridiculous.
"Of course the chain tensioner is not my patent"
"00:23 My Patent"
...
Sorry man.. the chain tensioner is a cool thing, and kudos for making one - but writing it's your patent is pretty stupid and arrogant to those who invented it.
You could try to actually patent it - then you can see if it's your idea or not.
@@h34p Come on dude don't play with words. The chain tensioner as a general idea is not my patent, but this spesific one that I present in the video is, that's why I called it my patent, don't tire me, get over with it.

You have got it on the wrong side
Robert Stubbs Nope, thats the right side. You're mistaken :)
f.kon1 yes your right i thought it was on the pull side.
No problem , did you liked the project anyway?
Mi
Actually it's easier to loosen 4 bolts and pull the motor back or buy a new chain
My holes on the chassis are fixed , I can't move the engine :( After many hours of use the chain becames loosest . After many hours of use the chain is damaged , so I buy a new one...my patent is self adjustable based on every chain length! But thank you for your advice anyways!
Lmao coulda just raised your engine and saved yourself an hour or 2
