- REMASTERED CLIP (1977 Shirley Bassey appearance on the Jack Jones BBC TV Show)
Shirley first performs her own powerfully unique interpretation of the country song, 'I Let You Let Me Down Again', and then she and Jack Jones perform a duet of the song, 'IF', which was written by David Gates from the group, 'Bread'.
The song, I Let You Let Me Down Again, was recorded and released on Shirley's 1977 LP Titled, 'Shirley Bassey - You Take My Heart Away.' This was originally written as a country song and recorded by Brenda Lee on an 1976 album. Shirley delivers a powerful rendition to cross this country song over into mainstream POP. Then, Shirley and Jack Jones' voices blend very nicely to deliver a beautiful rendition of the song, 'If, originally a hit by the group, 'Bread'.
LYRICS - I Let You Let Me Down Again:
Not the first time nor the last
Love's a memory fading fast
I was doing fine but then
I let you let me down again
Didn't want to be your clown
Build me up then let me down
I wanted love, you gave me pain
I let you let me down again
In the time it takes to say
All the things I had to say
You changed your mind and went away
Oh why couldn't you stay.
You didn't even say goodbye
You didn't even cry
You left me standing in the rain
And I let you let me down again
In the time it takes to say
All the things I had to say
You changed your mind and went away
Oh why couldn't you stay.
Not the first time nor the last
Love's a story from the past
And it always ends the same
I let you let me down again
Oh, oh, I let you let me down again
LYRICS - IF:
If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.
If a girl could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving
spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I
Would simply fly away!

She's a lovely performer in numerous ways. I absolutely miss her live concerts. I've seen her live in New York and Florida. I have a photograph with her that she autographed. What an exquisite artist.
The absolutely incomparable one and only unique fabulous Dame Shirley Bassey. ❤❤❤
❤My Dear angel, it is incredible to express what I feel in my heart when I see and hear you. 12 minutes ago he uploaded another video to her channel. And it was recently there where, just out of curiosity, I looked for her biography. When I saw her, I was very surprised and I understood more about this enormous affection that I have for her. Much of my life I have worked in radio, thinking to this day that “This Love I have for music” was due to Two Great Privileges:- First: Having been born in 1960, a wonderful decade where music arrived in Uruguay from France, Spain, Italy, England, USA.- Second:…Feeling like an Inheritance the Love for the music of “ELVIS” for having been Born on its Date and NOW That Inheritance is also sent to me by You For That Blessed JANUARY 8th on which ALL THREE of us were BORN….!!!! A big KISS……!!!!!!!
