- While Richard "Cheech" Marin and Tommy Chong's stoner comedy was decidedly silly, their financial success allowed Marin to pursue a serious passion of collecting Chicano art. Now, some 30 years after he bought his first painting, Marin is about to have his own museum - the first in the country to focus solely on Mexican-American art and culture. Anthony Mason reports.

Good Job Cheech! It has taken this long to find someone that has such passion for Chicano art. He won't Sell one piece= he loves the art so much. I think we all grew up seeing Cheech as an uncle. Tio Cheech!

Where can I donate? I saw a bit of his collection when it came to the El Paso Museum of Art. It was a street festival and so much fun.
New life goal: get a piece of my art into Cheech Marin’s museum
Congratulations hermano!!
We love you Cheech. !
Hey Ralph - Ralph check this out.... Nothing to do with collection except for a long lost episode off album.. Like Knick and Knack. Ying and Yang... Two of the most honest people on this planet made it work.. God bless you both nothing but the best of wishes dude......
I'm a Riverside resident and looks like it's finally happening. I just wish they wouldn't have to close this historic, over 100 year old LIBRARY for a contemporary art museum. Wish they would of just used another building. I feel like they are tearing down a piece of Riversides important history.
Right! I'm from Riverside too so I tripped out when I seen the library in this video lol I've been a away for almost 8 years
Riverside a suburb of Los Angeles?
Kvazquez222 Kvazquez222 + Riverside is NOT a suburb of LA!
That's my point, the clip said it was.
Oh noooooo
@@vt-yp7yq What is it then, we've never been...
Love Cheech Marin!
It's in downtown Riverside in the old library!
😆
This is awesome. Cheech is the dude. I want to visit one day.
Much props to Cheech, I'm glad he's finally came back around, when he was doing Nash Bridges he was extremely shying away from his Cheech & Chong persona, which kind of broke my heart a little, but i get it, everyone moves on at some point. I'm just proud to have him back.
Flavor oooooo yes
I can hardly wait to visit the Cheech Marin museum I only live about a half mile and a half from downtown Riverside

Órale
Colecciona demonios.
Stop being racist and saying our culture and art is demomic 😒
I love cheech 0 but this is far from the nation's first Latino museum.
National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago is free and has been around for many years.
The term Chicano is normally used to refer to someone born in the United States to Mexican parents or grandparents and is considered a synonym of Mexican-American. A person who was born in Mexico and came to the United States as an adult would refer to him/herself as Mexican, not Chicano. Maybe that’s the difference.
Leslie Batalla could be. Makes sense.
He's never sold a single painting because they're not worth anything. Think about it?
Maybe he just likes art lol
I'm sure something is worth something in there...
So? Our art deserves to be worth something and be in a museum that is just for us.
