All great choices sir! A few I would add would be the Casio Oceanus T100 & T200. The Casio a700wm-7a is my absolute favorite watch at the $50 price point (along with the g shock square). It’s the most comfortable watch I have ever worn and astonishingly slim at 6mm. I think a Zelos Swordfish is a really fun option under 500. Too many watches, not even spots. Lol. Thanks again for the great video!
I have one. They're good on a leather strap and great on a NATO strap. I got the black Kamasu because it goes with so many different colour combinations. An absolute strap monster.
@@XjohnjohnX88 of course it’s an icon because this is the best diver watch under $500 ! (Epson) F6922, Saphir glass, 20 atm, very well done… one default : the stainless steel strap is not perfect but at this price it’s always a good compromise. Regards
Good list, minus a few errors: you cannot get any of those Alpinists for under $500, even if used. They hold their value well. Also, you can’t get an automatic PRX for under 5. Lastly, you had Seiko Alpinist on the screen when you introduced the CasiOak
I think any list for the "Affordable Enthusiast" should include a Vostok, whether the Amphibia or the Komandirskie. A lengthy heritage backing unique looks and multiple creative approaches to problem-solving, all for $150 or (much) less.
So I guess if the Glycine Airman was the first GMT watch then the Rolex GMT is a homage to the Glycine? Just how far does this 'homage' stuff go? Great video summary Chris.
I've owned both for 40 years and the Rolex GMT is no more a homage to the Airman than the Submariner is to the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Just similar ideas developed concurrently. History is rife with examples of similar designs and inventions coming out almost simultaneously. The Airman initially had ONLY a 24-hour hand only and a unique 24-hour bezel that was secured by a second crown and a locking clamp, while the GMT Master had both 12 and 24 hands as well as a 24-hour free turning bezel. If you want to talk about homage's look at the dial and bezel of the Rolex 1655 Explorer II and the similarities with the Airman. ID Guy, Adrian Barker and I among others all believe that Rolex took inspiration from the Airman! 🤔
I would include the Glycine Combat Sub, initially a field watch, sold alongside the Airman in military exchanges on the '60s, it's arguably the best Swiss ETA 200M dive watch under $500.
@@ericlevine3897 I bought my pre-Invicta Airman Base 22 in 2019 for $680, minus $350 in Amazon points, so $330 delivered. I now see that my neo-vintage watch with the five-link bracelet is now going for $1,500-$3,000. 😮
Seagull 1963. Orient Bambino. Seiko Cocktail Time.
Some good choices! FYI..The smaller (43.5mm) Bulova Lunar Pilot retails for $895.
Where are you finding the Mil Ships under $500?
Not bloody likely in Canada mate 😢
Not in The Netherlands....
Hey Chris, the text over the CasiOak is incorrect
I know Russia is not flavour of the month but that shouldn't make the iconic Vostok Amphibia unmentionable.

Tissot gentleman
I'm definitely getting a Bulova, they are so classy

I Second that ✌️
I 3rd that. But a vintage Glycine Airman for $500 or less… where can you buy one for that price. Don’t think you can.
Agreed,glycine are great watches
