The craziness is acting like it’s “disrespect” to not have Kobe in the top 5 of all time.
That’s not even an insult or diss. Being top 10 is giving him his flowers. But some people act like that’s just an out of bounds opinion…

There’s like 10 guys with a valid argument to the last 2 spots. It’s no disrespect Kobe doesn’t make the cut over any of these guys.

Lebron is not my number 2 and Lebron fans think I’m crazy, or I’m being disrespectful. The Lebron at #2 all time is a media pushed narrative since 2016 Lebron was always going to be one of the greats. But after winning ring 3 everyone started to make it seem like his accomplishment was the best thing to ever happen in the NBa and it just was not.

Finals with different coaching staffs and supporting casts out of the top two. Add to that averaging 25 points for 20 straight seasons, 19 all nba teams, robbed of the 2013 unanimous MVP and DPOY, and is the most complete player ever. There’s not a logical way to argue him out of at least the top two.

This is true, but McCants’ job is to talk sports, you gotta have more in depth, well thought out takes than just simply “it’s my list” everyone has an opinion, but people want nuance. Unfortunately he takes the emotional/personal route too often.
Never thought I'd see a basketball player imply stats don't matter to legacy. I don't care how good Kobe's game looked, the consistency of his production (his STATS) IS why he's ranked so highly.
It’s definitely not THE reason as if it’s the only reason. There a lot of things that go into Kobe’s high ranking and don’t get me wrong stats are definitely one of the factors, but if we are just looking at career stats it’s very hard to argue Kobe top 3. A lot of people rank Kobe high for bias reasons l. I mean have you heard Kobe fans talk? A lot of them won’t even use stats when ranking Kobe.

If Kobe had no rings, no MVPs, no scoring titles, no defensive teams and wasn't top 5 on the all-time scoring list, no matter how well he passes the eye-test, nobody would rate him this highly. His ability to produce consistently is the main reason he's so highly regarded.
@treymatthews3353 I hear what your saying but it's the argument that basketball fan use to downplay Kobe greatest and use the fact he has the most missed shot in nba history smh stats are based on in game situation. stats dont show exactly how good a player is you actually have to watch the games to see how good they are and the impact they make in games. stats matter but it's not the full story. Because for example Pop is a great coach had one of the highest win percentages as a coach and won 5 championship but because he has had a horrible last two or three years they will say hes not a great coach because he's been losing. I think analytics had ruined sports.

I honestly only heard people talk about Kobe being top 3 until after he died. If anything people put him way higher after that rather than lowering him. I have Kobe at lower top ten around the 8-11 spots. In my opinion this is easily where he is.

In my opinion Kobe and Lebron is in my top 5 all time list. I can see why some people have him outside the top 5, and why people have him top 10. Michael Jordan fans hated Kobe. They hated him so much those guys were praising LeBron over him until Kobe got hurt in 2013. LeBron being better than Kobe is all the fault of Jordan fans. To me, the game is a matter of two things: number one is winning. How do you win? With number 2: points scored as a team.
I don’t know how you can, with that standard in mind, have Kobe outside of the top 5. That said, I also don’t know how Lebron is a lock top 2, considering how many others have been able to win more chips than he has. But I get it, cuz the first in all time scoring has to hold some value, but with how many other mfs have been able to win more rings, while also being able to accumulate more points for your team more consistently than LeBron has, can be ranked behind him.
