To Start with certification many people start with Platform developer 1 (401 DEV Certification earlier), if you want to continue as developer you can next take Platform Developer 2. Its good to have any Admin related Certification too, if you want to land in good job. Infact all certifications are to increase your chances of good job, is what i feel.

Actually the person I met in real life convinced me to get a Developer certification after she got her Administration certification. She works for them with just the Administration certification. If you have an idea how front end development works then this is for you. No, you don't have to know it, but it definitely helped me

You'd need to first decide which type of consultant you want to be. Do you want to be a sales cloud consultant? or do you want to be a service, community, commerce cloud, marketing cloud, CPQ, Pardot consultant? There are so many different niches in salesforce that the opportunities are endless. so i'd say to start off by determining what cloud you're most interested in and then going from there. you can figure out which cloud you're interested in by doing a quick google search on the different clouds in salesforce and checking out the products that salesforce has to offer on their website. that'll give you a good start, but if you have any other questions, reply to this comment or come to my channel and leave a comment and I may make a video answering your questions!

Let me be blunt here, companies hire mostly Salesforce developers than just pure Salesforce Admins. Salesforce developers are expected to know both Admin and Development side of Salesforce and thus, I don't think it would be helpful to just be an admin..I am Salesforce Developer by the way...
Most importantly,you won't be able to get a developer job if you don't know Lightning Development....Its harsh but true

Either one is going to be good for working remote, but being a developer will allow you to have more negotiating power and pretty much do whatever you want because there is such a high demand for them. Admins are so common and you dont really have too much leverage because you're in the boat with so many other admins trying to get the same job. Thats why i tell people to specialize when they get in the salesforce world. Go to something like Marketing Cloud or CPQ, or Einstein. It'll set you apart when you specialize. Imagine being a brain surgeon vs a regular general doctor. You get paid more and can leverage work from home much easier when you're more skilled. So that's why being a developer or specializing in a specific area is much better for you!

The Salesforce admin cert is a decent place to start, but its not the only place to start. It's just the one that everyone seems to talk about all the time, and Im not sure why people dont talk about the other niches in Salesforce. You can do the Salesforce Admin Cert, or you can do the Marketing Cloud Email Specialist Cert, Pardot Specialist, CPQ Specialist, Financial Services Cloud cert, Einstein cert. The list goes on and on. Go to Trailhead or do a google search and find a list of ALL the salesforce certs you can get in the ecosystem and you'll be amazed at how many certs you can potentially get! There are some certs that do require the Salesforce admin cert as a pre-requisite which is why a lot of people say to get that one first. But there's so many different clouds in salesforce that you dont have to begin with that one all the time. You can go to a completely different cloud in salesforce and get a completely different set of certifications and you will be in EXTREMELY high demand! So look into Marketing Cloud, CPQ, Financial Services Cloud, Commerce Cloud, or Community Cloud and see which certs you need for those and start doing some more research than what people are saying to get when they just tell you the generic thing to get, which is the Salesforce Admin cert.

You should have a good understanding of the salesforce ecosystem before you become a business analyst. Maybe focus on which cloud you want to get great at. For example, you dont have to just be a business analyst in sales cloud. you can be an analyst in marketing cloud, service cloud, commerce cloud, etc. So understand the platform you want to analyze and understand what you'll be analyzing and then take your business analyst skills over to the cloud that you're specifying in. Does that make sense?

Salesforce is so broad, you can get into Marketing Cloud and take your digital marketing / marketing automation skills into the Salesforce industry. There are over 33 salesforce certs out there. Dont stop at just the Admin/Developer certs that everyone always talks about! I'd recommend going to Trailhead or doing a quick google search and checking out ALL the salesforce certs out there! You'll be pleasantly surprised at how many certs are out there which would match the experience that you have from another background and industry!

It depends on which Cloud your company is implementing... If they're implementing Marketing Cloud for example.. then you'll want to get a marketing cloud related certification like the MC email specialist cert, MC Admin cert, MC developer cert, or MC consultant cert. It really depends on the cloud they're implementing at the end of the day. If they're implementing sales cloud, then probably focus on getting the Salesforce admin cert or platform app builder cert. If they're implementing service cloud, then get a service cloud related certification like the salesforce admin cert and then the service cloud consultant cert, since any consultant cert requires a pre-requisite before it. I would suggest go for Saleforce Certified Administrator first of all (ADM-201). Then prepare for Developer profile most importantly with Lightening since it's so demanded. Throughout this journey only you'll come across a long path of Saleforce Economy.

There is no compulsion of getting certifications inorder to start the consulting firm however you can do the certifications according to your relevant experience.

Go for PD 2 if you want to move higher in the dev track. Or else specialize in some cloud and go for a consultant certification in that.

Platform App builder is not required for any of the future certifications but it is really needed one?
According to me if you want to increase the count of the certificates you have got then go for it else there is no need.
It's one of the pre requisites for Application architect certification.

You should get the Marketing Cloud Email Specialist Certification first. That will teach you 75-90% of what you'll be doing in any Marketing Cloud job. Then you'll want to move to the Marketing Cloud Administrator certification which will make sure you're familiar with all the Marketing Cloud channels available to you. You can make the move too! All you have to do is have a gameplan and figure out which path you want to take. There's so many niches in salesforce, just pick a nich you want to go into like Marketing Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, Einstein Analytics, etc. It really depends on what you like to do. Salesforce is so big that you can literally come from sweeping floors and still find something you like to do. So respond to this comment with any questions or ask me questions on my channel and I may make a video answering your questions. At the end of the day, if you ask a question and I make a video answering that specific question, that may help thousands of other people out too!

Marketing Cloud is a tricky beast because you don't have access to a live environment. (Everything in marketing cloud is in production) so you cant just play around in it. The first certification to get is the Marketing Cloud email specialist cert and then you should focus on getting the marketing cloud developer cert because you need the core foundational knowledge of the platform before you try to become a developer in it. I teach a lot about marketing cloud on my channel and answer people's questions about marketing cloud when they leave comments like this or when they leave comments on my channel. So hopefully i've helped you out and you have an idea of where to begin in your marketing cloud journey, but if you want a SPECIFIC answer and a video to go along with it, then respond to this comment or comment your question on one of my videos so I can help you even more. Because if you have that question, then I know a TON of people have the same question as well. So i might as well make a video or playlist guiding you through and answering those questions for you if nobody else will!
