    1. Are you please able to share the names of tools you have used?
    2. If i make the cake night before and ganche on top of it then should i put it in the fridge and on the actual morning do fondant stuff ?
    Many many thanks in advance.

    Hi, great cake! How much red fondant do you need? Don’t really want to buy 1kg if I don’t need it :)

    • @storytalecakes
      @storytalecakes  5 років тому +1

      TheJoanna1986 I would say one kilo , but you can definitely do 500-750 grams although you may have to roll it a little thinner. You can also store fondant if kept in an airtight container for 6 months ❤️ hope that helps :)

    Hi Hannah! Making this for my son's birthday! Would like to prepare it a day advance so that I won't be a pack of nerves day of the party. Any suggestions how to store it after I put the cake together? Should I freeze it? Refrigerate? Can the fondant start to crack or fall apart? THANKS!

    • @storytalecakes
      @storytalecakes  6 років тому +1

      Chava Kassierer Hi Chava, aw yay that's exciting :) happy early birthday to your son. Please send me photos I'd love to see 😍. Yes you can make this in advance , but I recommend leaving it outside of the fridge room temperature. I rarely put fondant cakes in fridge and the reason is because when you take a fondant cake out of a cold fridge it will start to sweat with he weather change. However if your place is really humid then you can store it in the fridge but needs to be in an air tight cardboard box with the lid closed . Once you remove it from the fridge do not remove the lid from the box 📦 The lid needs to be kept on for at least 40 minutes so the box absorbs the moisture and prevents cake from sweating . Goodluck ❤️

      @storytalecakes  6 років тому

      The fondant won't crack but it will sweat once removed from the fridge if you do not put it in a cardboard box with a lid on top. Refer to my previous comment ❤️❤️. I recommend leaving it at room temperature if it's just one day in advance .

    What is the recipe for the chocolate ganache?

    • @storytalecakes
      @storytalecakes  6 років тому +3

      Hi Tania, so for the outside coating i like to use a 3-1 ratio .
      E.g for a smaller 6- 7 inch cake size you can do 600 grams of chocolate to 200 ml of thickened cream. Melt them together in the microwave for 30 seconds intervals for 3-4 times until melted. I do small intervals so the chocolate does not burn .
      Once this finishes you want to set the chocolate out overnight and re-microwave to use.
      I prefer using chocolate ganache to coat on the outside as i find it is more sturdier however keep in mind the inside filling should have a softer texture so a 2-1 ratio for the inside.
      Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

    • @storytalecakes
      @storytalecakes  6 років тому +1

      and for chocolate you can use milk chocolate buttons. They melt easier than using blocks
