I think it's awesome that you are getting into planted tanks more and more. I love plants, and they are such work horses in the aquarium. Love the long piece of wood you created! Can't tell it's cobbled together, at all, especially with that beautiful moss on it. Can't wait to see it well grown out on it. The mosses have always been my favorites. Ever try Susswasserang? Probably not spelled right..LOL. It's beautiful! Thanks for the update, Joey!
Joey, I have a water softener and it was the main reason I was having problems growing plants. I now bypass my softener when doing water changes and my plants grow great. There's a trace amount of salt left in the water that causes no harm to my fish but plants would never thrive. Except for amazon sword. My amazon sword doesn't care wither way.
You could use touch n foam landscape to "glue" wood together instead. It's an expanding foam that stays black and is completely pet safe. You'd need to shave the ends of the expanding foam off as it dries but some manzanita wood dust could be pressed into the surface to hide the black foam seam, or moss grown over the top.
Hey joey! Get in some Anubius in it! That would look great! Small varieties like A.Nana and A.Nana petite wedged in the wood and moss would be awesome you could also add bolbitis ferns and Java ferns maybe some bucephalandra,or other plants that don’t need substrate.
Nice update and tutorial, too! ...even if I'm commenting a month late :D 7:40 - Yeah, hopefully it's no longer the issue, but that's how Java Moss looks when not getting enough light. It can grow in a bucket, but I've seen this happen in a tank with overgrown floating plants.
I have Christmas Moss and its interesting in that it grows in a sheet like format(it along with all my plants are out of control atm but the fish are happy)
Brother, haven't you heard about that crazy new invention for joining 2 pieces of wood?🤔. We call them SCREWS! 👍💯🤯🤣😂🤣 LMAO. 😉😁 GOD BLESS. couldn't resist.hehe
These tanks are looking so freaking good. What plant species is the one creeping up front in the piranha tank? It seems to do really well in low light, and you didn't add any soil underneath the sand that I can remember.
It looks like dwarf Sagittaria. Very easy to look after plant, it takes a little bit to get going, but then it will just spread and carpet everywhere. One of the few carpeting plants that are easy without CO2.
Joey, I have magor problem. My 115, glass gallon aquarium developed a leak, in left rear guarter. Is there a way, to reseal the tank, without stripping all of the silicone out of it? Right now, my fish are in a smaller aquarium and I'm afraid they will not survive in it, while I make the repairs needed. So far, I have lost one of my bigger fish, to over crowding. HELP!!!!
i think you could yes, but i dont know how well it would do holding the longer pieces together on edge. I think the second you remove it to do a big cleaning, it would break.
That's what I was wondering, I use that method to join wood and stones to make all kinds of interesting pieces. Sprinkle some dark sand over the glue before it dries to cover the white color.
In the UK and my water is extremely soft last year I had to plants growing so fast and and now there little to nothing left of them from last year mostly new plants I just don't get it
Yea you can but I would take the moss off let it adapt to the new water, treat it for parasites, grow it out, discard the old growth and save the new. Boil and scrub down the wood. Then reattach the newly grown moss I say to throw away the old one because there’s no way you can remove the detritus from the moss
Anything that is growing some healthy moss will always have their place in a Nature Aquarium and it doesn't get any better than Manzanita or a display piece that has a tunnel throughout. I know that everything is going to be really fast and we are all happy to get the updates on what you are making!
Alright bro. You got the space let's see you plumb the 700 to the pond and build a filter. Remember back 10 years ago when you diy'ed everything life support wise?
In this video, I mentioned finishing building the 700G filter. It’s why the water was so clear. I won’t be plumbing the tropical 700g to an outdoor Canadian pond though, then struggling to heat a combined 5,000g of water with the vast majority of it constantly cooled outside.
It actually wasn't pet owners just FYI, illegal pet mill owners because the weather was perfect and terrain equally great for chameleons, they released multiple breeding pairs into certain places to then re-catch and sell them without having to actually care for them as they feed and water themselves in the wild. Same as it was never pet owners that caused the python/everglades situation. There is a huge python research facility there that's been half destroyed 2 times from major hurricanes, Andrew was one of them I heard, but both times 1,000s of specimens were accidentally released into the wild. The few pet owners that have done that, their animals are almost always found because they release them just outside in their own neighborhoods and cats and smaller dogs start disappearing. So neither of these invasive species are the fault of pet owners and I want to make sure no one is incorrectly spreading the incorrect information. Since you mentioned it I had to correct you because I had my pythons forcibly taken after they changed the class 3 exotic permit rules to where pythons became even more specialized, because of this very incorrect information scaring home and pet owners so even with a standard class 3 you couldn't keep them anymore. I was sent a letter to sell outside the state, give to another higher permitted pet owner, or forcibly euthanized. Had to lose my 3 prize snakes because of this so hope this knowledge finds you well.
Your water softener isn't causing your grief unless your failing to replenish the minerals that your fish and plants need to survive. You do check your GH and KH having aquariums do you not?
Don't worry Joey - not having the right dimensions of wood is an issue for many of us :(
Mine is three inches, but don’t feel sorry for me, sometimes they like it that thick.
That’s great idea and that piranha tank look epic

you should add that moss to the vertical branches in the piranha tank. i think that would look amazing
ohhh I locw rhia ao muxh. I've been trying to create a very similar look on a much much smaller scale. So cute how the fish are watching you work.
Hi! Excited for the new video. Can't wait for all the content coming up, after the short break.
Wooden dowel would be perfect for joining the wood. No more zip tie

Manzanita love ❤️
Awesome! 💯💯💯 Looking forward for the next one!
Man that RBP tank looks amazing....I would love to have that set up
7:53, you could add like 10 corydoras to the discus tank, they will eat the uneaten food
Banjo catfish are cool too
Love these video I do wanna learn about aqua scape

A good trick for keeping moss. When doing your water changes, when you’re refilling the tank, use the hose to rinse the moss.
What a nice video thank you so much
I have Christmas Moss and its interesting in that it grows in a sheet like format(it along with all my plants are out of control atm but the fish are happy)
Doing the zip ties for the wood kept the oscars amused for a long time
Great videos watch all time
Joey you could have put silicone on it or put wooden plugs inside your holes that you drilled with silicone and butt them together
Or super glue...
You could've made a dowel of some of the off cuts and glued it using epoxy. It would hold up better than zip ties.
You can also use clear nylon fishing line to wrap the moss, its nearly invisible when it's in the water.
Using fluorocarbon line would make it invisible under water.
Where you boys fish?
@@olipocock44 In the Caribbean
Bagus bang dekorasi aquariumnya👍
Look who's back. ALL HAIL MEGATRON!
Hey Joey, why not put some of that moss on the long "logs" of the pirahna tank?
Awesome video
Ps I’m going to use the first one
You should get some kessil lights for the discus tank
Love the shimmer that you get from a couple of Kessel lights but it is a very steep price for sure
Ya thats the downside
Just do itttt 💗
Just use impa glue or some inert superglue
Where do you get this special wood to put in them!?
Brother, haven't you heard about that crazy new invention for joining 2 pieces of wood?🤔. We call them SCREWS! 👍💯🤯🤣😂🤣 LMAO. 😉😁 GOD BLESS. couldn't resist.hehe
Can't use metal in water for aquarium.
Love the tanks, but won’t you get snails in the other tank when moving the wood?
The oscars were supervising your work.
I'm surprised you didn't put like a spacer piece in between those 2 pieces to make it easier for it to attach. Looks awesome though.

Always get your water before the water softener!!! For fish tank that is!!!

love it
There's some inspiration for my black rhom's log! Does moss attach itself to the wood eventually?
Yes! Doesn’t take long either. 2-4 week usually and it’s on there good!
@@thekingofdiy Cool! Thank you for the reply!
Can you tell me the name of the plant that was spreading thanks
Could use aquascape putty ?
i think you could yes, but i dont know how well it would do holding the longer pieces together on edge. I think the second you remove it to do a big cleaning, it would break.
Great video bro
What about the snails in the piranha tank? They are going to attach themselves to the new wood 😬.
Did you drill holes in that driftwood with a masonry bit?
ya, couldn't find my wood bit in the same time frame i could just drill with the masonry bit haha
@@thekingofdiy Love the drive to make the video. Good stuff
👍👍
Why not using cyanoacrylate glue + cotton wool to joint the wood?
That's what I was wondering, I use that method to join wood and stones to make all kinds of interesting pieces. Sprinkle some dark sand over the glue before it dries to cover the white color.
¡Maestro!
👍👍🔥🔥
if i remember the word correctly ... dowels* on your wood structure using your fancy glue. although i liked your zip ties.
Where is the best place to buy Manzanita wood for an aquarium?
Houston Manzanita
why didn't you try to use "Wooden Needle Bolt Round" instead "zip ties" to connect the woods?
brother does feeding prawn make my tank water smell bad
In the UK and my water is extremely soft last year I had to plants growing so fast and and now there little to nothing left of them from last year mostly new plants I just don't get it
Could someone take a piece of wood already covered in moss out of a lake and just quarantine it for a bit or would it kill the moss?
Yea you can but I would take the moss off let it adapt to the new water, treat it for parasites, grow it out, discard the old growth and save the new. Boil and scrub down the wood. Then reattach the newly grown moss

Biscuit joiner with super glue
Bring back the exodons

With my experience puffer fish take care of snails lol
Ayyy
What happened to the seahorse and octopus?
Could have epoxied a plastic dowel to connect those two large pieces...

What about the sharks?
He must've built that other building in his back yard since he's making a bunch of tanks...or kicked out his kids lol
What's wrong with using screw rather than cable ties bro?
I need to wait for my giant spider wood pieces to sink.... One did in 12 hours but the others....
Lets see what its gonna be today
Now the snails will lay eggs on the wood...
