Thank you for your like Rhett.
Nice to see ya gettin some good recognition. Cheers bru
A vintage Gibson amp AND a fuzz pedal! Mr. Shull is in heaven ;-)
Collab pls
Exactly lol 🤘🤘🤘
Those wood foot-switches were made from Mahogany scraps via the LP guitars being built!
Interesting trivia tid-bit.
That's cool. Wish I had that information earlier😀✌🏻

Apologize for being Captain Obvious.
My Mom grew up in a small town just west of K-Zoo, and was in high school when all this stuff was being built.
All things Gibson trip my brain, and I can't stop myself!
Love your Vids Btw.
I have a Gibson GA-79 from 1960 that I've owned since the early 60s. This is a stereo amp with two independent 15 wtt channels. I still play it every day. It is one of 250 or so made. It has the same wood foot pedal.
That's cool. Curious about the stereo effect!
These 79's sound INCREDIBLE! I have an ES-355, and I have long longed for one of these!
That amp is sick! Those late 50s Gibson amps are treasures. Everything from the circuits, tube line up, speakers, wood, to the incredible tolex work. Back 20 years ago you could still get these amps dirt cheap. They flew under the radar. Gibson had a huge lineup of amps that had some of the most unique tones I've ever found in an amplifier. As far as blues goes, many consider some of Gibson's amps the holy grail of harp amps. Like the 4x8 ga45. I always found them to be as good for guitar as anything. The mid 50s to early 60s stuff in particular. Tweed amps mostly. But the ga40, ga45, the ga9 narrow panel is ridiculous. Ga30 invader tweed amp is one of my all time favorite reverb amps. If you listen to blues from that era you can find the tone of these amps over and over again.
Fenders are just so expensive. But even beyond gibson, the 50s into the early 60s was just a magical time period for musical gear. There are so many off brand amps from that time period that are just amazing sounding amps that aren't at a price tag of fender. I could never afford fenders so I've always hunted down those off brand gems.
Always cool to see others enjoy and appreciate such amazing examples of music history.
Thanks for the info. I wouldn't mind a GA40 next👍🏻
Kalamazoo model two
got a friend has an extremely old gibson tube amp like that, been trying to buy or trade for it for years, it sounds awesome! gotta have that mother lol
Good luck bro 👍🏻👍🏻
Work a deal!
I have a 57 GA-6 that I got for a steal about 10 years ago for 600 bucks. It’s amazing.
Will you do a vid about everything you bought sold and repaired this year?
That's a solid idea..
@@MatthewScottmusic i would enjoy that very very much
@@MatthewScottmusic have you figured out that the universe is sending you these tools yet 🙂
@@davidrosenzweig1380 I figure it has nothing to do with the universe. I think Matthew has assimilated a great deal of contacts to put in his network for such things. Nice sentiment non the less. Further, I’m assuming he fully knows what he has in his hands and in his possession are very special objects (if you look at it from a primarily materialistic perspective).
Love seeing more slide from you Matthew! Keep it up!
Nows a great time with one less finger!
Love your channel Matthew. I enjoyed all the videos of the guitar & amp rehab work and stuff this year! Thanks for sharing!!
You're so inspiring ! Best vintage guitar gears I ever seen. I absolutely love your 1959 stratocaster by the way, dream guitar
Greetings from France
Great job helping us all see and hear some what's really cool in this world, Matthew. All the best!
All the best James.
Great videos, love all the vintage gear ,the cool field trips, repairs and wow, that 58 is awesome. Keep up the good work!
I love it. Great sounding amp. Great playing. Thanks for the videos and have a good Christmas and stay safe.
Thanks Matthew. Hope 2021 is a better year for all. Stay safe
Love your videos man! I find myself frequently re-watching older videos for your guitar intros, not another player on UA-cam can quite get the sounds you do out of a strat.
Thanks very much.
Yeah same here, fine guitar player if i say so, wish i could play like him, been playing for years now and no where near his abilities, i must be doing something wrong
Thanks For the great playing and the awesome sound! Merry Christmas
Awesome as always!! Thanks! Merry Christmas!
Heyyy!!!!! Speedy recovery!!!! Sounds GREAT!!!! Merry Christmas and continuous Prosperity for all years to come.
Another cool video Matthew, thanks for sharing. I'm glad it didn't blow up. The intro was brilliant, so good in fact I keep replaying it. 🎸🤠PEACE
Videos are great Matthew. Got me hooked again. Keep up the great work. You got a awesome talent. Thanks
Another educational video. I learn something new every time I watch. Happy holidays my friend.
Killer tones ! Love your vids man especially the slide guitar stuff is sick!
All the best for next year, Brother. You keep making great content like this and I'll be there. Here's to next year, and some damn gigs!
Awesome amp, pedals, and another great video. Thank you
Thanks a lot for your videos, guy! I've been learning so much through it. You're such a great guy! I hope I can see you live on a stage some day. Peace!
I have a 1964 GA-18T. It sounds amazing, as well. I'm glad you and Rhett are showing these amps some love.
On my ‘72 Deluxe Reverb, me and my dad were thinking about that whole,“Take out V1 and V5,” thing but the tremolo kept me from doing that. The built in tremolo has an amazing swampy blues sound.
Yes that v5 parts 8 vibrato.
what a great little amp. just want to wish you a merry christmas and happy new year. cannot wait to see what you have planned for 2021.
I always enjoy your video’s, the intro’s are the best!!
That’s awesome! Merry Christmas to you & yours
Fantastic. Thank you! Happy Holidays
The only effects I like are real reverb, tremolo, wah, and tape echo… but I usually play completely dry with absolutely nothing else 99% of the time. I like the dry tone from a Tweed Super or Marshall JTM and players look at me like I’m crazy, but it just sounds better than what they prefer. Your tone on these videos sounds really good.
Thanks! I was waiting for this video!
Happy Christmas from the UK! Let’s hope 2021 is a better year.
Thanks Matt, and Merry Christmas!
great amp and pedal, thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays Matthew! Keep doing what you're doing. I think that guitar, pedal & amp could be all a person needs. I know it would work for me. Let's all hope for a better year in 2021. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎄
Merry Christmas Matthew! Dig your channel! Keep up the great work!
We are very thankful for your vids, Matt! You made this year a whole lot more enjoyable!! And thank God you didn't take that finger off!!! D'OH!! 😎👍 BE CAREFUL DUDE!!!
I picked up one of these with original Jensen 10" speaker April 2020. Restored it and it's been my favourite ever since. The sounds are completely amazing.
Happy Holidays, I watch all your vids. Good Stuff
Thanks for the video. Hope ya have a nice Christmas!👍😎🎸🎶
Thanks Matt merry Christmas happy New Year God bless and all that
Tone that keeps you warm! Wow!
I LOVE that tone segment 2:18 - 3:03 ... makes me want that amp! You probably made the prices go up with this video!
That was some badass slide guitar playing!
Thanks for another great video. The amp sounds sweet and the pedal gets good tones too. Sorry to hear about your accident. I lost a battle wit the hedge trimmer and it won. I almost cut off my middle finger of my fretting hand. I still cannot play my guitar yet. Have a happy holiday and stay safe!
MARRY CHRISTMAS BROTHER THANKS FOR THE VID
love the vids matt!
I have a friend who had a 50s GA20T and it is an amazing sounding amp. We used it live in the band years ago and he got so many compliments on the tone. The band is no longer, and I just found it he recently sold the amp. Wish I knew, I would have made an offer.
We always get a good sound on this channel, I especially like the gig in the Gale. Peace.
Thanks very much. Peace!
Two things... Yes, Gibson amps are underrated in this era. But as far as tremolo, they have probably the best tremolo there is. Fender never made a pitch modulating vibrato circuit in ANY of their amps. The only company to do that (to my knowledge) was Magnatone. They are a different animal. But as far as temolos go, any circuit that modulates amplitude using tube bias as the point of oscillation are usually great. This included Gibson amps of this era. Fender BF "vibrato" sucks balls by comparison.
Brads the man that would know
I thought pitch vibrato was a more recent development. Thought it was only available in organs and synthesizers.
Thanks Brad, I think I misspoke there. The Brownface amps appear to be harmonic Tremolo. Something very different and cool. But not quite the Magnatone Vibrato.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays everyone. Not the easiest holiday season this year for a lot of people, myself included, but we have great music in here and that sure helps. You all have the best taste in music 🎸🎼Great sounding Video, I like your slide too Matthew 💥🤘🎄🕯🕯🕯🕯
That amp price just went up.
There's not many left if you can find one!
This has the best guitar sound that I've heard in a while! It's amazing!
Aaesome thanks!!
Nice to see the old Gibson amp. Wish they would pull their heads out and do reissues of some of their amps. Happy New Year Matthew.
It would certainly sell👍🏻
I seriously don’t know if they’re that smart, but Gibson did buy into Mesa Amps in some way.
Everyone gangsta till Matthew whips out a bass. Snazzy amp, I like the tweed mid range thing these amps have. The tremolo is really cool. Be careful with those tools man! Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.✌️✌️ ✌️
I ssssooooooooooo enjoy your channel! Keep it up Matt...
I`m impressed. Great Sound.
I loved this video.Thank you.I used to have a old Gibson amp looks just like the one you have.I did not have it very long.It had it's issues so i think i traded it for something different.Love the tone on your amp.! plus i realy like your playing! D You must have a group?Would love to see and hear the group if you do..most definitely! Careful with those tools...beware of protools thou.Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...keep up on those cool riffs.Peace.
real cool amp Matt, happy holidays
happy holidays man, have a bless one
"maybe it sounds cool, maybe it blows up. I dont know, lets see" hahahaha
😀✌🏻
Thanks for doing a straight demo of a vintage Gibson amp.
Very informative.
You're welcome!
Love the snarling sound with that strat! Would love to use that with my blues band
That sounds really incredible
Those old tube amps sure have boatloads of character that just can't be duplicated by the modern ones.
Sounding great as usual
Was just listening to Kenny Vaughn on Otis Gibbs channel and he said if ya disconnect the internal speakers and connect a 2x12 or even 4x cab to the ext speaker it’s instant JTM 45 but better. Very cool video man. Love your channel
I had a 1964 Supro 16T that was only 11 watts so reasonably quiet, but it had the most insane tremolo I've ever heard. Deep, lush and throbbing!
Keep up the good work. I enjoy yiur videos. 👋
Great video. I cant afford vintage gear but I love simulation of GA 40 in my hx stomp! Perfect tone!
Still an incredible amp! I'm in love with that old school power switch on it
Everything about it is cool👍🏻
Sounds mint dude really honest playing
We don’t talk about vintage Gibson amps because we don’t want the prices to skyrocket. SSSSSSHHHHHHHHH!
Too late
Happy Holidays Matt!!! 🎸🎸🎸
Merry Christmas Matthew!
I have the exact same kind of 1959 Gibson Explorer tweed GA-18 amp with mahogany footswitch. My amp has been fully serviced and recapped. Mine has the original Jenson 10-inch speaker with an alnico magnet. Great tone for a lot less money than a similar Fender Princeton tweed!
The story about the mahogany footswitches is that they were made from the scrap wood that was cut off of the boards that made the bodies of the 1959 Les Paul guitars in the Kalamazoo factory. The joke is that if you glue a couple dozen of these footswitches together, you could build a 1959 Les Paul!
Merry Christmas, Matthew!
we Love you Matthew Scott 💪🏽❤
Merry Christmas ⛄!
Amazing sound!
That's a cool sounding amp. I think I like it better than the 5E3 amps I've heard on UA-cam (haven't played through either one as yet). Sound like it can put up some seriously "chewy" grit when cranked. Thanks for making the video.
I think so too!
Even with a bloomin’ great hole in his left hand middle finger tip, Matt still player better ands sounds waaaaay cooler than I ever will. Thanks for the inspiration, and wishing you & yours and happy & safe Christmas and New Year,
That means a lot chris, keep playing.
Wassup Matthew, seasons greetings from the UK & a happy christmas to you & yours :-)
Happy Holidays!!
Love your channel. Everytime it's like a spritual walk back in time seeing all these vintage guitars and your young but its like from that Era. Like from a time capsal or portal. Keep up the good work. I will be watching...oh I bought a Jay Ray pedal from your review. I paid 375.00 on Reverd. ..my be to much , but hard to get and it sounded so good. I had to. Thanks for let me know it existed. I would have never know. There is so many pedals its overwhelming at times. I want a catalinbread No.5 old version, all red, but impossible to find. It mixed with a 63 FRV-1 Reverb pedal....awesome! blues tone... I also want a Ibenez Tube screamer TS-10.
Very cool brother ! TY ! 😆✌🕇💕
Great job man
In the words of Dr. Emmet Brown ..... "GREAT SCOTT" 👍🎶🎅✌️
I really love Gibson Tweed! I do own a 5 Watt Maestro Rever-Echo GA 1RT and just love that thing. I change the speaker with a Anlico Warehouse and it sounds huge.
As for the Isle of Tone...best Fuzzes out there!
COOL MAT NICE BASS , HOPE YOU HEAL UP OKAY ,
HAVE A NICE HOLIDAY SEASON.
That was fun Matthew!
I hope your finger heals up up soon. Sounds like it ain't slowin' you down LOL!
Happy Holidays brother.
🐉💀👽🎸🎶🎵🧠
Ótimo vídeo congratulações
IMHO better than a tweed deluxe. All the Gibson amps are great. These sound amazing with the stock speaker too
Matthew, a video about all the gear you own as of the end of 2020 would be cool!
Sounds awesome.
Matthew
Merry Christmas.
Cool amp and I'm a fender guy
Bob
Dear Bob,
This is not a letter, it's just a youtube comment. Merry Christmas!
Mr Single Coil
I'm fortunate enough to have one of these bad boys from the late 50's. I was thinking about selling it to pick up a Gibson guitar I've had my eyes on but after viewing this video I just think I'll keep it and use it more often. Not sure what it's worth but I did see one for sale on eBay recently for over $2000.00. Enjoyed the video very much. You really have a great style there Matt.
Nice amp! I got GA-40 1956 and Magnatone custom M10 estey series 1965 this year incredible tremolo sound!
Great sound
I had a '65 Gibson Falcon amp for a few years.
Great clean amp...amazing trem & verb.
Couldn't get it to overdrive for nothing!
That tremolo reminds me of a small slow Leslie. Robin Trower-esque lower-mud tone throughout but particularly with that fuzz.
