- We just got back home from an amazing 4 day stay at Camp Wood, TX. We stayed at Camp Wood RV and Cabin Resort located off of the Nueces River. There is no water that compares to the clarity and quality of this spring-fed river! The campground has incredible cleanliness and you're allowed two tents per tent site. Because mine was on top of my Jeep, mine did not count. Amenities included water, and electricity, bathrooms with showers, swimming pool with splash pad, 300-yard golf range, pickleball (whatever that is) playground, basketball, and volleyball courts. Check out the video for all our activities and some incredible scenery to send us back home.
It’s that clear and clean because most people don’t know about this place. 😢😮now they do and it’ll never be the same again. Thanks!
I'll have to disagree. Texas rivers are beautiful and most people take care of things properly. Considering places like New Braunfels, its only like that due to close college towns and young people who don't care quite as much. That crowd will likely not drive that far to visit a secluded and beautiful place like this.
I live in nb. I would go to the quence to escape the tourist. Now We search again cause he just ruined it. There’s no room for lots of people. Take note
Funny how some people think they are entitled to nature. All who wander into it should respect it.
@@JamesRamsay-mk8xl wait till you show up here and there is no where to park. Entitled. Lol. You have no idea. Stay inside in your keyboard troll. 🤌🏻
@@fastcaptn2468 Funny, because when I spoke with the owner while visiting, he was doing many upgrades to bring in more visitors to share this gorgeous water hole with people. So I think you should maybe take that up with him and not me. I'm sharing the beauty of the state with those who love to travel. If you don't like it, then I don't have any advice to give you.
The Comal, the Guadalupe, and Frio are just as beautiful.
That's where my dad learned to swim,I think he was part fish.😂
The Frio river in Concan in 2006ish had water more clear than bottled water in a side by side visual test.
My wife can vouch for this.
Unbelievable but true.
the devils, the frios, and many more are just as clear. Texas is full of amazing places like this.
Yes it is....a truly wonderful place to live!
The frio is being damaged more every year! Where should we start people build houses and house needing more water for the house. Don't forget the trash people leave and people going to the bathroom in the river. I pray people don't start going there and causing the same damage!
You need to look up devils river they are trying keep humans out and I dont blame them.
Too mamy people during summer
@@polakwteksasie6094they should make it illegal for large gatherings by passing a city ordinance
its beautiful but the devils river is another level
I lived in Camp Wood and man it is beautiful. There ain't no work in the nearest Walmart's 50 Mi away. I lived close to the dam with a boat launch 100 yards behind the house. And where you're filming at we used to hang out all the time in that place is gorgeous thank you for sharing I forgot what it was like. In the Metroplex I really miss living in Camp Wood
Your children are very lucky to have families like yours..👍
I have been to the frio river several time and it is very clear too. It is good to see that other nearby river are clear too.
Nothing beats the most beautiful thing in the world. . .Family!
You got that right!
Awesome video! Chalk Bluff is another awesome spot along the Nueces River!
I will need to check that out as well! Thanks for the info!
the San Marcos River in San Marcos is from the university to Rio Vista Falls is extremely clear spring fed
Awesome Video!!! Great Family picnic! Like a comment said, the kids are fortunate to be in such a lovely adventurous Family!
Thank you so much!
I used to float down this river as a teenager in the summer in uvalde. So much fun.
No other type of relaxation and meditation compares to working in the garage or floating the river! lol
I feel like the angry sheriff who was very upset with me taking my kids camping on the riverbank under a bridge at Barksdale blaming Texas Monthly for spreading news about this incredibly beautiful river system...shhhh...keep it a well kept secret! Lol
Beyond beautiful place !!!!!!!!! I visited here in August 2021!!!! That place is very awesome!!!!!!!
YES! I cant wait to go back
Wow! What an AWESOME vid! I really love the underwater footage. And your music selection is spot on. I'm looking forward to more vids like this!
Thank you Jeff! I really appreciate you stopping by!
What a TREASURE.
Looks amazing! Added to bucket list!
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Wao! Que rios tan hermoso.
Whats the addrss on that quince swimming hole? Awesome video and content
What a heavenly place
4:26 always brings back memories of the frog when I would go to garner! Miss the hill country so much!
It's my favorite place to be!
Awesome share - thank u - adding to our list ❤
You're very welcome
Thanks for the video. I almost bought land in that area. I ended up buying by Canyon Lake. I’ve been visiting the Hill Country since the 60s when I was twelve. Been in love with it since. I’ve hiked every trail in Lost Maples. All of west Texas has always intrigued me.
@egar4767 >>>The HILL COUNTRY IS IN CENTRAL TX.
Yes, the Hill country is in Central Texas. I live on the edge of it close to Government Canyon.
Awesome!
Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! Glad you came to the channel to check it out. Take care!
Gracias from El Paso 👍
The Nueces River in the Hill Country is beautiful. The cabin and RV Park looks like it would be a nice place to stay at. Thanks for the information.
Thank you for stopping by!!!
Awesome place. We were there 2 years ago. Loved it
Es un lindo lugar gracias por ese lindo video
Don't tell everyone, too late !!
This looks really cool. It also made me look at a map and notice Kickapoo cavern state park not far away...I'm sold.
you will have a blast! what are you waiting for?!?!
At 16:02....that shot of the moss flowing past the camera is well done....gives one ideas for all sorts of visuals...asteroid belt run comes to mind. Well done ;)
This was a very good informative and entertaining video. Thank you for this.
Thank you for coming by. Be sure to subscribe and see the next adventure!
DUDE! That’s what I call camping
Me and my family stay there every year for the past 6. Its changed a ton but cant wait to make the 6 hour drive with my son now.
I love it! Can't wait to go back
*loved this video didn’t know we had places like this in Texas; I’m a Houstonian*
TEXAS IS SO AWESOME!
Simply gorgeous! Repeating what one person said: Your family is blessed that you all venture out into the great TX outdoors and enjoy it all! I am wondering what month you visited.
I believe that it was a September or October when we visited. Not too cool but not overly hot outside!
I miss la quince swimming hole 😢 used to go there a few times!
We also caught a lot of perch and bass on ultra lite tackle. We also stayed at that same place and it was excellent
Very nice video.
Thank you, I'm working on getting better with my editing skills.
There are two other rivers that I would recommend that are at least equal in clarity. One is the Comal and the other the devils river
Yes!!!
A very well done video
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it
Great video! I love the underwater video. I gotta check Camp Wood out!
Yes absolutely you should. I can't wait to go again!
Check out the Comal River, Frio River, and Devils River for clear water...
Will do!
While visiting Cape Cod I was invited onto a private fishing boat. At the dock someone,(Idiot), dropped an empty beer can into the water. It was 12 feet deep and I could read the can label with no problem. The greens variations of seaweeds went on forever and the clarity was amazing.
That sounds amazing. We recently visited Destin FL and the water was there was stunning. Crab Island is a must!
I imagine if one walked the river banks long enough and knew what to look for, all sorts of arrow heads and other stone artifacts could be found.
Absolutey!
Thank you for a wonderful video! It is a great information. We don't know anything about Texas area. It is helpful! Thank you😄
Glad it was helpful!
We trying to find La quince , but can’t find how to get there
Its off of River Rd, right past the Family Dollar Store in town. You cant miss it.
It’s called The Quince, because the water is always 15 foot deep. I remember a time when no one but locals went there, as with every secret spot, the internet has ruined their mystic
God forbid that anything beautiful is shared with people who can be respectful to nature. It doesn't looked so ruined to me. I really did enjoy my time there.
I want to live THERE 💯🌍
I have family that has a cabin out there it’s beautiful
I wonder how long these rivers will continue to last with excessive pumping the aquifer. Jacob's Well near Wimberly has zero flow for a couple of years.
That's awful 😭
@@adventure_48 The state of Texas claims that the aquifer is being regulated but it is not, extensive pumping and homes being built over it. It is all about the big bucks! Do a google search and see Jacob's Well, it may never flow again.
What a fun set up against the Jeep! But I wonder how the drought has affected this area :/ Greetings from The Woodlands!
Hey I appreciate it! Yeah I'm kind of wondering how all of these nice rivers have fared during this drought season
@@adventure_48 I'll report back from Boerne this weekend, we had rain!
Have y’all been back since? Any updates on the park.
We have not but we just talked about it last night!
its nice to be with on river bank... than k u...
Always!
lts beautiful because thousands of people haven't destroyed! It! I am really so sad that it looks like the frio did 30 years ago before the people came and I feel like they have ruined it! 💔💔
I've been here many times. Have a reservation in June 2023.
Nice! I can't wait to go back
I need to go there some time
What are you waiting on!?! lol
Pronouncing the rivers name wrong. There are other rivers in TX that compare with that one in how clear the water is some being the Frio river the Blanco river and the Devils river to name a few
Sorry, excuse me....I'll go back to school
Drop the location! Of the quince spot
Thank you for making this video. We are actually going there in June, first time there at the cabins/Rv place. Found the beauty of camp wood by accident, I wanted to do Fm 337 from camp wood to medina and driving there we saw the dam and the crystal clear waters. That was back in 2020 and thank you for showing Quince, just found out about it today. The last piece of your video is Fm 337 right? My wife didn’t enjoy the cliffs lol, I loved it.
I cant remember what road that is but if I find some time to look at it I can let you know later. It was a very steep climb to go that way towards San Antonio and back to Houston. Maybe Ranch road 337 is the road we took....to Leakey and Bandera if I remember correctly. We loved it there. Cant wait to go back again! Thanks for watching the video and subbing!
Does the Nueces go dry before Batesville LaPryor Crystal City area?
I have no idea. I would have to use google maps and look at the satellite imagery and see videos of the area.
“None compare to this” lol he must not have ever heard of the Devils River
Ill be sure to check it out
Frio and Sabinal all day over devils, with regards to water clarity..
You’re delusional. The devils river is ranked number one clearest most pristine river in Texas. It’s all spring fed.
@@darrylmcginty1296hey where is the devils river at? I’d like to check it out 👍🏻
What was the name of the place where y’all were able to jump off of the little cliff into the water?
Quince Swimming Hole
Great video. On the flat grill for your camp chef, where is the grade catch. I’m thinking about switching from my black stone portable griddle to this camp chef.
The camp chef belong to my neighbor, I can't remember if it was on the side front or in the back.
Do the camp sites have electricity?
I just booked our family camping trip here because of this video, we will be here next month. Would you recommend any off roading places in the area?
Yes, those sites where we stayed have running water and electricity hook ups. That is so awesome! I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and planned a trip there bc of it! I don't believe there are any offroad places in that area. If you make it towards Austin, there is always hidden falls to visit or up towards the panhandle, you can visit Merus Offroad in Claude, TX.
@@adventure_48 thank you so much!!
Do you have the coordinates to the quince hole?
Is it cold water? Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
The water is cool, and is the perfect temperature in warm weather!
Not a problem. Glad you enjoyed it!
How can I get there?
me podrán decir la dirección de este hermoso lugar, gracias
Hi, I have a metal detector, do you know if is allowed to use it in that place?
I dont see why not
Did you write that song with a theremin I never knew theremin music was back in style.
Yeah beautiful water, but you can't float that! Too many filter beds🤨.... Not even deep enough to swim in!!! Been there, done that.
We managed to float some, walk some, float some. It was fun and relaxed. Not crowded which was a huge plus!
Hello anyone know of any places around austin that has cabins? Or any places closer to louisiana with cabins and amazing water like this? Tia
You can drink this water, it is so pure.
The place yall were swimming at the dam, is it the same place yall were camping? Camp Wood RV Resort?
Yes it's right up the road. Just a few miles away from the campground
Nice video I am not familiar with the Nueces River in camp but I usually go to Frio River. I am always trying to find that spot off the Clift but cannot find it. Where is that class area at? Is there parking
On River Rd, right past the family dollar. The only one in downtown Camp Wood. Blink and youll miss it!
@@adventure_48 Thanks🙂
What time of year were you there? Btw, great video
We were there in June or July, a little towards mid year so that we could have cool mornings and slightly warm afternoons.
We are going next week! So excited. I hoping to find the Quince, looks so beautiful and not many people. Did you access the Dam through Wes Park? We will head down to Chalk Bluff as well.
So the damn was easy to access, theres an exit ramp that leads right down to it and parking under the bridge as seen in the video. Very nice place to be at!
I am no looking to burn in the blistering summer heat. What time of the year would be ideal to go camping and not burn. April, May?
Amazing that people ruin such beautiful places by exposing them to social media
What would the world do without photography and mapping and sharing the beauty of the world? 🤔
Lol camp wood is NO secret.
describe the don'ts ,,, essentials.....please..
Don't not plan ahead. Don't leave behind items like extension cords for power hook ups and charging electronics. Don't pass up gas stations if you know your getting low on fuel. Just normal things like that.
I’m gonna be here this Friday thanks to this video. How far is the river walking distance from the tent sites?
Not too far, about 1-2 minutes just bc of the bed rocks
They are all really far away from Houston.
Yep, but that's part of the joy of traveling and getting away from the city. :)))
Is there a fee to swim the quince?
i think he said 5 bucks to enter?
Yes it's only five bucks per head and kids under 12 are free. Very humble and nice owners. They're using the fees to put back into the parking area and add tables for people to sit at. Things like that, well worth it!
Hv u ever been to the frio River? Concan TX. Or the blanco River?
I have been thru Concan a handful of times
looks like most rivers in Oregon
I hope I can make it up there someday! Sounds gorgeous!
Just without the cold and rain everyday.
Washington state Cascade Mountain has turquoise silver water clear as can be
I'd love to see it!!
Do they have cabins there?
Yes.
Yes they have cabins to rent.
12:38 on the video you can see the small ones
What is the flow there now? I know frio is at 0
i have no idea, i did see a picture of jacobs well that was almost unrecognizable!
I visited the Jacobs well a week ago.. absolutely no water.. zero, zero.. nada. All dried. Very sad :/
Can you drink the water?
I tried it. Still alive. Lol, using a lifestraw wouldn't be a bad idea just to be safe though
Where
Try the frio
Frio is great!
It’s dried up
What month did you record this please? It seems nice but still kind of cold. lol. Thanks!
Yes it was still a little cool out. I believe that it was during spring break a few years ago.
Whats the address ?
Its on River Rd right by the Family Dollar in town. You cant miss it. Theres no physical address for it. 29.669181, -100.021935 are the GPS coordinates
exactly where is this ? thank u sir
This is located in Camp Wood, TX. Info is on the description and the comments as well. Thanks for stopping by!!
DEVIL'S RIVER TEXAS CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER MOST OF IF IS NATURAL GROUND SPRINGS FED
Yes, they are truly amazing!
i go up thr rgularly, got fam um there
awesome man! I can only dream of moving out that way someday
It's a little low due to the drought.
I would imagine so
