My apologies but what does it exactly means ? I played black flag when I was 12 years old even today I get it since most the pirates were ultimately after gold right ?
DBR X No need to apologize. It’s a quote from the game by Edward “Blackbeard” Thatch. I could be wrong but the meaning I infer from that statement is that gold is the reason they are criminals/pirates and, because of its very existence in the world, they cannot possibly be good men (“heroes”). Gold was indeed what they were after, as were most pirates of the time.
DBR X To continue on that, and to reinforce what was said earlier. Because of what they were after, which was gold, they were criminals. But if that wasn’t in the world, they would be seen as the toughest, most dedicated men of their time. If they were doing hero’s work, they would be the best hero’s there are.

As a mariner myself, Leave Her Johnny is the most fitting shanty out of the bunch. Each verse describes the trials, hardships, and joys of being on the water. When you have to step back on dry land, knowing it's the last time you'll see the vessel you've praised, cursed, and everything in between brings forth a maelstrom of emotions.
@@fabianafdanielaruan5424 You think these guys, with voices like this, weren't already part of a male vocal group before deciding to sail? No, they found that the sea carries their voices across the waves in a way like no other.

This is the crew you've been traveling with for months, maybe even years, and you've made so many memories of killing people, stealing booty, singing sea shanties and getting drunk together. He was a veteran and watching a clip of this game today and realizing the sea shanty cadences makes me understand why he loves this game so much
It's not just a game. I remember singing along to "Leave her Johnny" and just sailing merrily with my crew in this beautiful world and feeling like life is not all that bad. Thank you Ubisoft.
I only fast travelled on the same island at viewpoints bc i like doing leap of faith and it's a bit laggy for me only reason, otherwise i would've enjoyed more walking trough the cities
Currently playing it. Have never fast travelled. Oh and the final mission with Thatch... where you're meant to just "escape to open water"... damn right I let loose on their fleet, boarded the man o' war and took it for my fleet.
Also just randomly shooting the cannons because it's satisfying and entering random battles because it's fun and doing harpooning minigames because it's extra fun
It's the only game I truly feel nostalgic about. This brings me back to January 2014: I'm a 1st year med student, just finished the first semester exams, it's a cold and frosty morning, I'm in my PJs, I just finished my breakfast, I put this game on and I play for hours. It rains outside, I feel at peace. It's now October 2024, I'm 10 years older, it's my last year of radiology residency. It's chilly outside, I'm married, both my wife and my one year-old daughter are sleeping right next to me. I feel extreme bliss. I'm grateful for the life I'm having.
Black flag in my opinion is the best AC. I grew up with this game, I remember defeating every legendary ship, taking over every fort, completing the storyline, everything. One of the best childhood games for me.
I think that's part of it. Shanties were made by sailors to sing while sailing. So they likely wrote them to go with the sounds of the sea. Either that, or we're just used to hearing them with the ocean sounds so they sound weird without it
i would die for another game like black flag, from the shanties,to the amount of content,to the story and the pain we go through alongside kenway, black flag is the best assassins creed and we need another game like this,we all want to experience that again.
The ironic thing is that AC4 got criticized for him not being a true assassin, just a pirate. Doesn't take anything away from how great of a game it was though.
@@arid_desert_storm Same with Odyssey, from as far as I've gotten (which is pretty far) there hasn't been a single mention of assassins or Templars once but it's still an amazing game imo. First Assassin's Creed I've loved and played religiously since Black Flag.

I'm actually crying because of the nostalgia. I played this game when I was like 10 and it was amazing. These sea shanties were one of the best reasons to play this game
I used to sail around for hours in this game avoiding combat etc just sailing the ocean listening to sea shanties. Good memories, the purest form of escapism
The shanties are the one thing that I feel connects me to this game, so peaceful sailing around listening to old pirate songs just puts you in the mood. You know what I mean right?😂

Very few games hit like that. When you make it so that nobody ever uses your fast travel feature and just enjoys going the slow way, you have done something right. It’s part of the reason I was really disappointed after I played cyberpunk. I actually loved just driving through night city instead of using the fast travel. The people who worked on the radio stations were on point. Breath of the wild also does this to a lesser degree. I usually just teleported to the closest shrine when I needed to go somewhere, but that was only because the world was so big it would have takes far too long to make it there. I once went from kakariko to the akkala tech lab and it took me an hour. Can’t remember if I had a horse or not ( probably not) but what is important is that I didn’t feel like it was a waste of time. It was fun making that trip. Finding towers along the way was less “Finally a checkpoint, now I don’t have to go through that area again if I die” and more “ nice, now I can explore this area more when I finish what I’m doing”

@@Gadget-Walkmen Yeah, the MP was really good, I agree, but Ezio's philosophy is nothing but line-by-line copies from Machiavelli's Prince, the story feels a bit forced IMO, and the new fast travel feature and the horse-riding-in-the-city feature in that particular game felt like it was built just to ignore the parkour. Don't get me wrong, Brotherhood is an awesome game, I just felt like they ignored some parts of the game just to implement the new Brotherhood features. It's just how I feel about it.
Anyone listening in 2019? Still one of the best Assassins Creed games to date, Ubisoft has said there’s no AC game in 2019 so that leaves the door open for a huge release in 2020. I’m thinking they take the assassins to Japan next.
I only started playing ACBF this year. On my first playthrough right now and loving it. It's my first AC game and I wanted it specifically for the pirate theme, tbh I have little interest in the other AC games but I love BF.
I’m bored now. They’ve ruined the series . Unity, rouge origins and oddessy slowly destroyed the series. There’s nothing interesting or wanting about the stories anymore . This game was a great way to change the story after Desmond’s death, and could’ve made for a great continuation with a new character or something , but Ubisoft fucked us all . I’m sorry I don’t want another game with the pace it’s going with .

I'm grateful for the life I'm having.

listening to the shanties by themselves arent the same without the crashing of the sea, 10/10

I think that's part of it. Shanties were made by sailors to sing while sailing. So they likely wrote them to go with the sounds of the sea. Either that, or we're just used to hearing them with the ocean sounds so they sound weird without it

I would just keep changing the song until I got my favourites lmao
There was also just a lot to do. Sailing an exploring was just so much fun.
This game really makes you FEEL like a Black Flag.
