    1:28 I’ve taken too many lessons to mention where the pro? has never spoken about hip slide with rotation and extension. This video makes perfect sense. How does the low point of the swing move forward if the body stays where it started at the beginning of the swing. Thanks for connecting the dots. Best tip I’ve ever read. It’s the missing piece of the puzzle.

    In meh instruction (Hitting for baseball and softball) I have incorporated 'pressure-shift' in place of weight shift. Weight shift depicts a backwards slide for most hitters and then they slide forward and tend to allow their head to move too far forward in the swing. Pressure is more stable. I have picked up a lot of insight and tips from EC that I have added to me repertoire. Thanks Eric. One of these days we may bump into each other on a course. I would enjoy the discussion of swing technique for sure. Even at 62 I am still learning and have finally learned how to shut my mouth and listen regardless of the age of the person sharing knowledge. Cheers.

    Eric, great video and explanation of an issue I have struggled with for years. I do slide a lot and get stuck inside and tend to flip my wrists to keep the ball left. If my timing is good I have a nice draw. If it’s off I hit blocks and big hooks. I will use this video as something to work on over the next few weeks. Thanks!

    This is essential to consistency in the golf swing. It’s not easy for me to coordinate the three components ( shift/slide, rotate/turn belt buckle to stick, and extend upwards). In fact, I often struggle with the first part ( shift hips toward target on the downswing)However, I know this sequence must be learned to achieve better ball striking. Any additional tips on how to blend these moves would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    My dear Eric,
    you can read my thoughts. Everytime I work at something, you have a new phantastic video about it.
    My problem is the early pressure at my left leg by arm parallel in the upswing.
    I know it is good, but I think, I have too much pressure on it.
    The balance between easy pressure and hard pressure and the recentering move.
    My head is in position.
    The timing is important, I know, and this is my problem.
    Kind regards, Erich

    Eric great demonstration to find the low point , but when you slow slow demo your head moves with your sliding hips. On the other hand in the swing you slide turn head stays back then moves forward when going up. When I go after it I tend to slide and my head stays on top and well in front of the ball then I have to flip at the bottom to scrape it around. Sound right?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Рік тому

      Good call...in real swing the head stays more back from RIGHT SIDE BEND....

    A blend of lateral movement and rotation. I prefer to not focus on one or the other alone. I believe we move in 3 dimensions in the golf swing. Vertically, horizontally and rotational. Or in other words, lateral, rotational and up/down.

    So I gave this a try - found it much easier to get to the stick with my lower irons - more difficult with the driver. Is this a normal occurrence

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Рік тому

      Hey Jim!
      Yes, that's normal as there is MORE hip slide required with a driver vs. an iron. Start short and slow and work your way up. Exaggerate and check video feedback👍

    • @3putt548
      @3putt548 Рік тому

      What I do is just not think about the downswing. I keep my hands and arms passive at the top. There is a slight hesitation at the top, before I slide and rotate to my lead side. That starts the downswing. I just let my hands and arms follow. Don’t forget though, you have to have some side bend in the downswing in order to push off for more power going up.

    Would more turn also stop me from leaving my club face open?

    • @nicholasincardona3853
      @nicholasincardona3853 Рік тому +1

      Perhaps. If your grip is correct, and you are not "flipping" then yes, rotation should help you close the clubface. Also, search Eric Cogorno and "twist away" videos which will help you keep the clubface closed. I have heard there is a 6:1 ration betwen the arms and the hips... meaning the arms move 6 times as quickly as the hips. In your golf swing, begin with hip rotation and your arms will catch up.
