Kata is not an end in itself. This would be completely historically wrong. Unfortunately, in many dojos and also in competitions, kata ends up being an end in itself. Important to know: Funakoshi Gishin certainly had a reason for refusing karate for competition!

Having practiced different versions of Jitte in the past, i got to see different applications of Jitte. I did like the bunkai you showed on your version of Jitte.

Thank you @Andre Beauregard as with most styles of Karate there are 10,000 applications to every technique, these are some that explore some deeper principles in Wado Ryu Karate. It is good to try different applications while practicing core fundamentals. Good luck with your training.

Don't try this in the street because it doesn't work.

Well this is a kata. So nobody is claiming it would.
Or they atleast absolutely shouldnt claim it.
Kata especially in Wado Ryu karate is not taught to teach self defence.
Kata is it’s own thing, just trained for its own sake.
And kata makes up idk 1/6 of training.
Together with Kumite (free sparring), base techniques, couples techniques, strength training and other stuff.
Karate isn’t just self defence, there are parts that are more cultural.
Kata, isn’t at all for learning how to defend yourself in a street fight.
But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have other value.
Katas are like stories. Martial arts stories. Many of them hundreds of years old, and the same kata can often be found as some version in multi-able martial arts.
Being shared and retold for centuries.
They are pretty cool and fun.
And if it’s done at a dojo with a bit more well trained students. It’s often a pretty good way of training and seeing absolute full body control displayed.
The Bunkai, or the part where they are two people showing the techniques.
Can be seen as part of the Kata. It’s a way to understand the ‘story’. So you know what the kata movements techniques are supposed to symbolise what attack or defence.
Not shown for you to be able to use it in sparring.
But so you can understand the kata and it’s techniques better, just for the sake of the kata.

      That's absolutely wrong.
      Kata was made for selfdefence.
Ask for exampel Patrick Mc Carthy! A researcher gor Karate.
      Alone your distance is wrong.
      Self defence us always near.

I would say quite a few things.
But the by far most major one being that the Kata shown in the video had just one jodan shote uchi, instead of 3.
