    funny how he says about fast,but I have always been amazed as his playing and speed like on Fireball,Burn,and others. A true drummer's drummer. My favorite all time

      Fireball has a groove to it in a sea of drummers who just want to be "BRVTAL" and "KVLT" and blast beat the shit out of tunes.

    I first heard Ian in 1972. He became an inspiration and a favorite all through my career. Love this mans musicality.

    I wanted something close to Ian's signature model, but not exactly the same, and I settled on the Promark "Intruder" model. I don't know what he means when he says "I can't do that". I think there's very little he can't do.

    Ian’s just confirmed to me that I am using the right sticks, I only wear the shoulders down on them and they don’t break. No they’re not Promark, and they don’t have a signature on them either, stick size & weight played a bigger part in getting their choosing. Ian’s technique of using rudiments and patterns and turning up the playing tempo is where he’s coming from rather than setting out to break a sprint, tom to tom record. Speak softly and carry the right sticks works for me too, Mr Paice.

    I used his sticks years but then I changed them (and still looking for the right ones, I need a 2B maple with the same tip and strong neck of these Ian Paice signature ones but shorters and I never found them )...everyone got his personal hands and playing...
    What Paice says here is really true in fact he is the most musical and groovy rock drummer ever...That's make him my favourite one...

    Truth be told, anytime I try another brand of stick, I always go back to Promark. There are the go to. And Mr. Paice, you are a great drummer. As a kid and until present his groove/swing/power/style, there isn't anything about his drumming that does not resonate with me. Always been at the top with all the rock n roll greats.

    So I just tried another pair of Promark sticks for the first time in 5 years. First, I had forgotten just how good Promark sticks feel in the hand. Second, I got a pair of the Rebound 5B Long sticks. It felt like coming home. These sticks felt like exactly what I have been needing. A long 5B that isn’t front heavy. I loved them and will continue to use them. Promark, guys, I’ve come back home.

    Paicey is being quite humble about his technique he has every bit of the hand speed as the great big band drummers like Ritch and Krupa and Fireball was literally the first rock song with double bass. Ian didn't even have 2 bass drums in his kit at the time he came up with it
    Keith Moon loaned him his bass drum to record it with. But no Paice's fastest rolls as are fast as anything you'll hear.

    It should be noted that Marco Soccolli did this interview and played the drumzz in the beginning of the video. Marco is one of the most incredible drummers there is. He choose to be involved with drummers as an artist relations rep instead of showing the drum world what an incredible drummer he really is. To bad because the drum world is missing out on a major talent.

    I'm asking for a favor.
    How heavy is the rod that Ian uses?
    I mean I want specifically - in grams?
    Thanks for the reply.

    I might try Promarks. I want a very think and sturdy stick. Good for funk and jazz. So would Rebound sticks work?

    • @harrisonmyers1572
      @harrisonmyers1572 9 років тому +1

      I dunno about the rebound sticks but they do make a very nice Jz "Jazz" Nylon Tip stick-which I use-and they feel very nice and will last a long while, as they're made of Shira Kashi oak as opposed to hickory.

    Guess he forgot about "Burn" Lol! XD

    • @Hellwyck
      @Hellwyck 4 роки тому

      Burn wasn't a particularly fast song, he played different rolls as fill ins and kept the groove going.
      Ian was talking about death metal or extreme metal drummers who feel speed is all - like kids who buy a car and can't control it.

    I love the beginning..I totally agree..wenn I watch UA-cam it really looks like the Olympics..I see guys playing a double bassdrum like 10.000 beats per second like idiot's if I am looking to a circus act nothing to do with music..I can't do it what a waste of time. I'm 62 now playing the blues. If I asked such a guy to play the blues he can't easy as that. Pleas young drummers don't try this at home..you can join the Circus but please don't as a drummer.. Nice drumming all.
