Although it's not perfect, this is close to what I would have loved to hear from the official mix. Floor voice is so beautiful, it's a shame it's drown out.
I agree. However in the current nightwish you can see that guitar soils have disappeared (in the last album there is practically nothing). Marko Hietala also had her vocals decreased in the last album. What can we then realize? What they have decided to stand out in Nightwish's current music are the orchestrated parts, ie ..., Tuomas Holopainen. He will no longer let any vocalist be, say, the band's "face" (as it was with Tarja Turunen). It is a shame what this guy is doing with Floor. She is a spectacular singer. My opinion: He is destroying everything around him due to his own ego.

I don't understand why people keep saying Marko's role was decreased. Marko sang in every single song in Human Nature. And there were ZERO orchestral parts on part one.

@@anthrazite In the verses when there's less happening lead vocals can be heard upfront clearly but in the chorus it's more like everyone together type of mix.

This is much better! This is just how we have grown accustomed to hearing Floor lead this band. If was done intentionally, I have no idea. This has really cleaned up the vocals nicely!

How did Thomas waste these lyrics and Floors beautiful diction and vocals for the final mix? It defies me,it's his creation but what about his audience, you,me,and all the fans out there. Congratulations, it's a remix for the masses, Nightwish and Floor lovers,and the masterpiece written and composed from a man with talented,heart and soul.
Because it was intentional. Floors voice while angelic and beautiful is supposed to fade into the choir in the background. Fade into the voice of our ancestors. One collective voice of our DNA echos of ghosts of the past

You've done a superb job! I can listen and appreciate the song much better this way. I was not a fan of how the original mix really drowned out Floor and kept her vocals in the background.
Oh wow!! I thought the Nightwish Arena channel re-mix was good, but this beats even that one! It's as close to what I personally would've loved the actual mix to sound like. And yes, I know Tuomas meant the official mix to sound the way it did and I'm not disputing his artistic choice at all but...with Floor's voice lifted, this just sounds way better to these ears. Just my opinion and preference of course. I absolutely love this version. I know they won't, but I'd love it if they did a re-mix similar to this one and could somehow include it as a 'bonus' track on the album when it comes out in September....though I'm not holding my breath!

I feel like Nightwish started to treat vocals as 1/5th, 1/6th in this case, again. But this version is good to understand the lyrics. I am assuming they will go vocal heavy in the concerts once they start touring again.

I think they can... most of the last album. Yes, technically next level musicality, but really, really was it enjoyable? Relatable? Maybe for some.
To play the devil's advocate: I don't think the original was poorly mixed. It was just Tuomas trying to balance the extreme presence of Floor's voice with the rest of the band. Anyway, It is Nightwish band, and not Nightwish with a special guest Floor Jansen.

We can hear the band alright, all their previous albums were mixed just fine with no one left aside. In this mix, the vocals (this isn't about Floor but also about the choir she's supposed to be part of) and Kai's drumming were drowned out by synths and instrumentals.

Not to be judgemental but Nightwish is a band, not a solo project. When you have a powerful voice like Floor's, you don't want to make it overpower the orchestra which does an equally amazing job. Everything must coexist in harmony, that's why their music is always so special. Tuomas is an amazing composer and maestro and all instruments (voice too) always have an equal part in the songs.
But in the classical music and opera are singing so much people, but you can actually hear everything. If this is not the case here then the options are 2: either a pointless composition where the choirs and the main vocal can’t shine or either a bad mix. Let’s stop with these excuses. The Blind Guardian albums are having even more vocals, choirs and layers and yes, they did fail as well few times. Sometimes, nothing can save an album from a bad producer/mixer…
And no, trust me, if everything is with equal priority in your song, then probably nothing really is… The dynamic is when you know at what moment what needs to shine and what not so much. Sometimes, even the deadliest silence is much better than the shitty wall of sound

This song is not like Ghost love score for example, it does not have so many different parts where dynamics can shine. Giving the vocals more volume here I believe just makes it more pop. Everyone has a different opinion, not everyone can like the same thing.
I don’t mind the original/true mix, as I’m sure it works in the context of the album. But it does make a difference adjusting the vocals

I think we should respect the way Tuomas wanted this song to be mixed. It is after all HIS music, not ours.
If a great singer as Floor Hansen don't gets that she deserve of course that we have the right to talk about it.

It's the UNO game principle I'd say, as in "thanks for the cards but we'll take it from here".
There's a large consensus that the chorus is completely drowned out by synths. The choir behind Floor is super quiet too, so her being part of it doesn't matter.
Nightwish makes music for us to enjoy, that's how they earn a living, but that also means us listeners can enjoy it how we like.

He won't. He wanted Floor to be part of the music, not leading, covering it. This is maybe better but not as it was meant to be.
Great mix but I still prefer the original. The idea that Floor´s voice is part of the choir (=voices of generations) is grazy, bold and mindblowing.
...except that said choir is too quiet in the mix during the chorus, too. The problem isn't about Floor not standing out, but about the *vocals* being too quiet.

What makes you think you are smarter than Tuomas, the vocals were meant to be exactly the way it sounds....
Doesn't matter what Tuomas wanted it to be when there's large consensus that Floors voice (and the choir she's supposed to a part of) is too quiet in the mix and drowned out by synths. Hell, even Kai's drumwork during the instrumental bridge is just barely audible. Just because it was intentional, doesn't mean it was a good idea.

I used Ultimate Vocal Remover to separate vocals and instrumental to two different stems and then i mixed them on Audacity.

What caught me is how Tuomas gets this long musical journeys to be so interesting and I get bored more easily with a 3 minute 4 chord pop song than with something of this length. It is interesting that they now have bass much higher in the mix than they had when Hietala had been doing the job on fat strings in Nightwish. I miss his voice as much as bass playing. He would have made choruses of this song so much more uplifting.
I'm sure their original idea was great but the execution just sounded muddy. This sounds clearer and more powerful.

I respect Nightwish as a whole. My first impression was exactly this. Everything is crashing over Floor's vocals. Tarja had a much more stronger voice than Floor and maybe Tuomas imagines Floor's voice as strong as Tarja's. We needed this.
