That's true if you are using the box stock receiver and box stock transmitter with none of the latest firmware, then yes expect latency and wobble. For my Radiolink RC4GS V1, I've updated its firmware to v6.0.1(i haven't tried the 6.0.8 firmware yet, as I've seem to have lost all my micro USB data cables due to the Type C trend) and running R4FGM receivers. I've never had wobbles except at high sensitivity gains for an RC chassis with large amounts of caster angle (in my case, HPI Blitz, ikr, not a drift car but very very oversteer-y on brushless 10.5T) And that's firmware support even for a Radiolink transmitter i got FIVE YEARS ago, you don't see such software support for THAT long for android devices, interestingly. Fun fact: Dumbo RC is a direct subsidiary of Radiolink, essentially, they really are the OEM for Dumbo, so your Radiolink RC6GS v2 with box stock R7FG is definitely of of an older stock, older firmware, and version (not sure if i saw V1.2 or something on your R7FG) than your Dumbo RC set(X6FG/R6FG may be of a lower/different model than the R7FG, but highly likely the manufacturing date may be very recent at the time of your recording), that's why the gyro instructions on your Dumbo RC X6FG is exactly the same for Radiolink's OEM receivers, and that receiver's Radiolink twin is the R6FG. So essentially you just tested two Radiolink radio equipment of vastly different manufacturing dates! Eerily enough, the local drift folks in my country keeps on implying that the Radiolink stuff is really bad and discouraged me from using it for RWD drifting, while forgetting the fact that there are vastly different iterative versions for each model of RX/TX as time goes by, and there are Firmware updates at regular intervals, and the box stock firmware tends not to be that great specially if it is a freshly released Radiolink model, hence I would expect some Radiolink RC8X reviews are GOING TO *UNFAIRLY* CONLCUDE IT SUCKS. One more fun fact, by this time a lot of Radiolink and Dumbo's receivers will all be manufactured with digital servo capabilities giving most of their receivers a latency of a total of 4ms with telemetry off.
Interesting information there. Maybe I will try again with a firmware upgrade. It would really surprise me if it was as good as a proper drift gyro - but maybe it will be better than it was before.
@@RoadsideRC Thanks for tthe reply! Yes, firmware upgrade has done a lot for my RC4GS performance. I was able to update to v6.0.8 earlier today but due to heavy rains I haven't been able to go out and bash. Brand new, out of the box I could barely make a few meters away in terms of range, and is easily interfered by WiFi routers from other households near me. Yes the box stock R6FG really sucked, and receivers can't have any firmware updates obviously. Things changed when I got the R4FGM receivers and software update to 6.0.8 What got me to get the RC4GS(another fun fact: it is the same mainboard as your RC6GS, mine has less switches, you can solder 2 more switches and run the latest RC6GS software and bob's yer uncle, you get an RC6GS for less!) is that it's latency is better than advertised latency of 14ms, comparable to Sanwa MT4!(there is a 960FP test video comparing both) I do plan converting my RC4GS to an RC6GS with 6.3.2 firmware soon.

hey boss i have a question if that radio link does let you play with the futaba gyro that you use, very interested parting out a build and dont want to fork out the 200+ for a futaba radio.
The Radiolink can control a proper drift gyro...but you will eventually upgrade to a better radio. Many people try to use these, and always come back and upgrade later...spending $$$ twice.

great video! one question that arose from this video... Can you turn off the gyro on the receiver and still use your futaba gyd450... I would assume this would work, but the main question is the follow up.. Would this be a good tx/rx setup paired with the gyd450 for drifting...?
Yes - you can turn off the gyro and use the Futaba instead. I do not recommend the DumboRC for drifting at all. It doesn't have a good control for the gyro. I also do not recommend the Radiolink, but it can be made to work.
Can you use the knobs to adjust the gyro sensitivity on the yokomo v4 on the dumbo rc controller? And would the gyro work like regular if the receiver is on normal mode?
Yes, you can use the knob to adjust the sensitivity of the Yokomo gyro, but it is a very poor performance. There is no readout of what your gain is set at, and the precision of the adjustment is poor. Yes, keeping the receiver in normal mode will allow you to operate the external gyro as normal.
Hi, I bought the Radiolink for Speedruns because of the incredible range. Do you think the buildin gyro could work to keep the car straight? Thats the oposite from drifting I know, but if that will working, that would be great Thanks for an answer and all the best!
Hi Troy the futaba transmitter is a little over my budget according to what you say in the video. Can rediolink control futaba's gyro gyd450 in avcs mode? Is there another reasonably priced transmitter that controls avcs mode .tenks
Yes, the Radiolink can be setup to control the GYD450 appropriately. However, driving back to back with my Futaba, there is a noticable difference in driving feel.
Question, did you say that the radiolink would be able to pair with the GYD450 or would you rather just pair the GYD450 with atleast a Futaba 3pv? Thx for all the testing videos.🙏🏾
Yes and yes! :) After this video, I did use the Radiolink to drift while controlling the GYD450. It did work. However, I would still recommend getting at minimum the 3PV. The steering feel and overall smoothness of the control is just plain better. I felt that even though I was still going through the GYD450, the general control of the car was not as good.
Have you checked how much a replacement receiver would be? Looking on AMain, you can get the factory controller and receiver for under $50: bit.ly/3RyOfSN Perhaps ask around - many of us have replaced the factory radios, so folks may have a receiver laying around you could use. I would hate to see you "waste" the money on the Dumbo radio to just replace it again as soon as you can step up to a better radio.

Yes! Both can control a gyro from the controller - but the Radiolink has more functionality than the DumboRC. Two things: - Driving the Radiolink controlling my Futaba GYD450 gyro - it still was not as smooth and intuitive as using my Futaba controller. I have the dumbo RC X6PM-350 TX paired with an X6DCG RX in my RWD converted TT-01 and as a beginner, I'm already having a blast with this cheap setup. Granted that I spin out sometimes but it's so satisfying when I clear corners. for some reason, mine doesn't have that slight gyro wobble. it might be because you set the gain too high?
Gain is usually a culprit, so I did try different settings. I expect it has more to do with the direct steering setup in this car. It will highlight any flaw!
@@RoadsideRC i see. Thank you for that! I just also want to ask, what external gyro upgrade can i get with my existing dumborc radio? I want to upgrade the gyro soon but i don't plan on upgrading my radio yet due to budget constraints.
So, RadioLink and DumboRC both use FHSS protocols on their receivers, have you tried the RadioLink Tx with the DumboRc rx?
I have not.
They are not interchangable. At least on the version 1 of the rc4gs its not.
Hi, they are cannot bind with each other, you should know that.
@@Radiolink_official I have used rx from Futaba and FrSky that binded successfully because they use the same protocols. I'm not saying it will work, but your comment of "you should know that" is a little demeaning. I'm not an electrical engineer from your company. If two pieces of tech are using the same language is ridiculous to think it might be compatible? Is that how I should expect my customer service to be from Radiolink?
@@HenriBrownell Hello sir. Really sorry for the rudeness of our staff. It is our negligence for improving the English ability of our staff. There may be some misunderstanding in using the sentence "you should know that" because of the lack of awareness of cultural difference. Sorry about that. And we'll make improvement. Wish you a nice day!
I've never had wobbles except at high sensitivity gains for an RC chassis with large amounts of caster angle (in my case, HPI Blitz, ikr, not a drift car but very very oversteer-y on brushless 10.5T)
And that's firmware support even for a Radiolink transmitter i got FIVE YEARS ago, you don't see such software support for THAT long for android devices, interestingly.
Things changed when I got the R4FGM receivers and software update to 6.0.8
What got me to get the RC4GS(another fun fact: it is the same mainboard as your RC6GS, mine has less switches, you can solder 2 more switches and run the latest RC6GS software and bob's yer uncle, you get an RC6GS for less!) is that it's latency is better than advertised latency of 14ms, comparable to Sanwa MT4!(there is a 960FP test video comparing both)
I do plan converting my RC4GS to an RC6GS with 6.3.2 firmware soon.
Hello pak, saya ingin bertanya apakah radio dumbo rc di pakaikan gyro yokomo v4,apakah saya dapat mengatur sensitivitas gyro v4 saya di radio dumbo rc saya?
Saya tidak merekomendasikan ini. DumboRC tidak mengontrol gyro eksternal dengan baik.
Have you tried Flysky GT5 radio with the 6ch receiver ??
Nope. I have not.
Great vid!
Would you recommend a gyro for a 4wd bashing/occasional 4wd drifting as well?
Looks like fun!
And how does the dumborc gyro compare to spektrums avc?
Thanks, really appreciate your input =)
I honestly don't believe you need a gyro for general bashing. Not really worth the $$$, and some of them really take control away from you.
@@RoadsideRC thanks man, saved me a lot of money!
so the radiolink receiver & futabu gyro is a go?
Yes, that combo does work, but not great.
i would of thought having the antennas 180 and not 90 would cause sensitivity issue ? or does it make no difference.
For something long range, it my have an impact, but for drifting...we don't get very far away.
@@RoadsideRC yeah right, i just got this controller kit today. Ive been using all the old analogue controllers from my 80's RC's still lol. I've noticed going thru settings they must of got the hint as the gyro now go's from -100_0_100+ and does turn off its actual range. haven't got it installed yet but looking forward to trying
@@oneglimmer Awesome! Good luck!
Did u build your camaro body...I can't figure out the back piece
I did not - I bought it used. Sorry.
With the radio link can I just plug in my own gyro and it work???
Yes - they will 100%. You will need to turn off the receiver gyro.
Also - I do not actually recommend the Radiolink controller. If you can get to around $100 to spend there are much better options, like this: amzn.to/3Dbdh4Y
I have no issue with the radiolink in my brushless 1/8 4wd at drifting
Correct - AWD vs RWD is a BIG difference.
hey boss i have a question if that radio link does let you play with the futaba gyro that you use, very interested parting out a build and dont want to fork out the 200+ for a futaba radio.
The Radiolink can control a proper drift gyro...but you will eventually upgrade to a better radio. Many people try to use these, and always come back and upgrade later...spending $$$ twice.
Great Video Brother Troy 💯 I use the Radiolink in my Crawler's and Basher's but have the gyro turned off and use the adjustable channel for other purposes like Rear Steering

I've got the DumboRC with gyro installed on the kids Tamiya tt02 rally car perfect for him.......and the range is awesome .
Yes! They are very good general controllers indeed.
Rally vs RWD drifting is a big difference though!
@@RoadsideRC yes you are correct.....we also have a Sakura d5s....but all I make is donuts.....cheers from Germany .
great video! one question that arose from this video...
@@RoadsideRC ooof already have the radio link but ill be getting a 3pv soon. thanks again!
@@RoadsideRC ok thank you!
@@RoadsideRC hey! i have another question on the radio link can you adjust gyro grain on it with an external gyro like the v4?
Yes you can.
@@RoadsideRC it can be on any channel right?
Hi, I bought the Radiolink for Speedruns because of the incredible range. Do you think the buildin gyro could work to keep the car straight? Thats the oposite from drifting I know, but if that will working, that would be great
Thanks for an answer and all the best!
Yes - it would certainly help in that situation.
Also in avcs mode? Because that's basically what's most important
Yes!
Question, did you say that the radiolink would be able to pair with the GYD450 or would you rather just pair the GYD450 with atleast a Futaba 3pv? Thx for all the testing videos.🙏🏾
Yes and yes! :)
After this video, I did use the Radiolink to drift while controlling the GYD450. It did work.
However, I would still recommend getting at minimum the 3PV. The steering feel and overall smoothness of the control is just plain better. I felt that even though I was still going through the GYD450, the general control of the car was not as good.
My stock receiver went out for my mst rmx, would u recommend dumbo rc just to get me by untill I get a futaba?
Have you checked how much a replacement receiver would be?
Looking on AMain, you can get the factory controller and receiver for under $50: bit.ly/3RyOfSN
Perhaps ask around - many of us have replaced the factory radios, so folks may have a receiver laying around you could use.
I would hate to see you "waste" the money on the Dumbo radio to just replace it again as soon as you can step up to a better radio.
FYI Dumbo Radios are made by Radiolink.
Interesting!
How would I go about using this on my stock mar rmx 2.5? To sure what plugs into what or how that really works? The radio link
I 100% do not suggest you use this controller for drifting.
@@RoadsideRC yea I ended up just getting the fatuba 3pv for drifting I have more than one drift car how would I go about using 1 transmitter for my other cars just get more receivers?

So Im deciding to replace the receiver with a different one and a much smaller one like the Radiolink R4FGM but I’m not sure if it will work.
I am sorry, I don't believe it will.

I run a flysky fsgt5 and it also does a pretty decent job with it's built in gyro. It's very controllable and all the adjustments are done on the controller no fiddling with buttons on the receiver.

Yes! Both can control a gyro from the controller - but the Radiolink has more functionality than the DumboRC.
Two things:
- Driving the Radiolink controlling my Futaba GYD450 gyro - it still was not as smooth and intuitive as using my Futaba controller. If you can save up the extra $$$ to get a nicer controller - you will not regret it.
