Tanglefoot Brewing is a small Czech lager focused brewery in Temple, TX. In 2021 the brewery opened in the back of my family's BBQ restaurant that had been operating for 53 years. The restaurant has since closed and Tanglefoot has now taken over the entire space. This UA-cam channel was started to document the process of opening, running and growing a small craft brewery.
inkbird !!! very reliable product
Inkbird! I enjoy watching your videos of your growing brewery!
Thank you!
Inkbitd sounds like an amazing and simple to use controller!
Pretty dern easy to use 🍻
Inkbird is awesome! I just made my first real lager with a 7 cu ft chest freezer and an Inkbird. Great product.
If it works, it works!
Inkbird ... Love your cold liquor tank idea with the freezer.
You've been randomly picked to get one of the controllers! Email me your shipping info to andy@tanglefootbrewing.com and I'll try to get it out to you asap! Congrats!
Thanks for sharing the setup, I'll be keeping an eye out on Craigslist now for equipment!
That's definitely the place to go!
I own a brewery in Tampa Bay Area. Use those temp controllers on everything. From mash tun to ferms and brite
Nice to see some pros out there using them too! 🍻
INKBIRD
Inkbird ! Was just thinking about buying this exact Ink bird.
Ive got one thats solid runing two years. I want get another for my keezer. Thanks for video
Thanks for watching! 🍻
i would love the inkbird for my homebrewery!
Inkbird! Talking to a poor guy saving up for a coolbot and a dairy tank lmao.
humble beginnings! Thanks for sharing, I need to get me an Inkbird!
🍻
Inkbird.
I love the cold liquor tank. I have struggled to knock out, and I think using a cold liquor tank would be clutch to make brew day faster and more efficient.
Definitely a game changer. 🍻
Inkbird!
Inkbird use them over here in Aus 🤙🏻 , that freezer tank genius
Inkbird. The "home engineering" is half the fun of brewing, including using Inkbirds to make life easier. I love finding new ideas from fellow brewers or sharing ideas I came up with myself.
The problem solving is often the best part of brewing, indeed. 🍻
Inkbird, already have a fridge and have been postponing this purchase.
Well it's your lucky day! You've been randomly picked to get one of the controllers! Email me your shipping info to andy@tanglefootbrewing.com and I'll try to get it out to you asap! Congrats!
Cleaver idea with the chest freezer
It works out pretty well! 🍻
Inkbird. I'm looking for a way to get better control of my fermentation temperatures. I feel like this is the best way to go from making good beer to great beer.
Love my inkbird controllers! I think I'm going to convert my old keezer into a cold liquor tank now. Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Love inkbird! So user-friendly, affordable and literally is the difference between good and great beer! Ink bird!
Inkbird. I enjoy the DIY side of home brewing. I just setup my fermentation chamber that is a commercial stand up cooler that I repaired. Inkbird is controlling cooler flawlessly.
Inkbird I have a inkbird and a different temp controller and the inkbird is far better imo.
Awesome video!! I use the same setup for my homebrew operations!!
Thank you! Simple but effective 👌
Inbird 😜 Love the vid as always... I never thought about using a freeze for a cooling device... awesome idea!
Inkbird
Inkbird FTW!
Inkbird! Awesome video man. It's cool to see how small it all started.
Thanks dude! Hope you're having a good time in Belgium 🇧🇪 🍻
Inkbird for the win. I like the budget setup and ingenuity!
Thank you! Just two little inkys do the trick. 🍻
Inkbird ! Never seen the cold tank idea for chilling great video!
Inkbirds are great no-fuss temp controllers for hot and cold. I use mine for hot fermentation with Kveik and using plant heating mats. Great stuff!
Ya, they are super user friendly 🍻
Awesome, using inkbird as well in Denmark and would comment inkbird if living in the US. Awesome to see that you have gotten a sponsor! Keep on producing this content. Love to follow your story, seeing your brewery grow. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😉🍻skål
Thank you! Glad you dig the channel. I'll keep your name in the list either way. Denmark is part of the BeerTube world too. 🍻
I have 3 of the wifi versions of inkbirds! They work great! I have two for my FVs and one for my Keezer! Crazy I can check from anywhere now, and adjust if needed! Cheers
Dope. That's awesome! 🍻
Great video buddy. Its neat to see the beginnings of your journey. I love Inkbird and have 2 that I use now. I have an older one and a new one with WiFI capability that is awesome. Im looking to replace a unit that isnt an Inkbird in the future. I wonder what was in that first storage unit you were trying to break into. Stay cool!
Ha it was just the one right next to it. Set the camera up and didn't realize.
Cheers 🍻
Did you recirculate the cold liquor or just dump it? I would assume recirculate because 7cuft is only about 50 gallons and that would run out pretty quickly knocking out 1bbl to 50 degrees. Thanks for the content!
I collected it in another vessel, did not recirc. I only needed to knock out 1 bbl so it worked great!
Great video. Inkbird is so expensive here un the south of Argentina. 😢... we have to use chinese thermostat
I'm surprised they are expensive, they seem to be pretty affordable elsewhere.
can the device be used to maintain temperatures for pale ales aswell
Good for maintaining temp for any beer 🍻
I use Inkbirds in my my system at home too. Question have you ever had issues? I’ve recently had two separate units malfunction. One unit will setup like normal but then will randomly glitch out to where the display shows random digits on the display and alarms and clicks. Another unit I thought was working fine but then I noticed the the power to the freezer was cycling on and running abnormally long. The temp read 57° but when I checked on my conditioning beer it was frozen solid, even tho the temp probe was set how I always set it. Good product but I question if anyone else has had similar issues.
Since posting my comment I was actually able to determine how to correct the temperature reading. Believe or not the instructions were right in the booklet that came with the unit from InkBird. This fixes my freezing issue but I did still have a unit that definitely malfunctioned by showing random digits on the display and power cycling on its own.
Hmm, that's weird. Haven't seen any issues like that but glad you figured it out! 🍻
Good stuf.. Is that a Speidel l 31.7 gal fermenter? How did you sparge with that setup?
Yup! Had another kettle for hot liquor but couldn't find it for the vid. Pumped on top of mash via that. 🍻
With that cold liquor tank did you recirculate the water back into the chamber or did it hold enough to cool down the wort in one pass?
I didn't recirc before knockout and just did it in one pass.
Is that a duda counterflow chiller? Have you had issues with it clogging, or not so much as there are less hops in your beers than some IPAs?
It is a Duda! No clogging issues long term but definitely pulled too may hops in once and had to back flush. Easy enough to fix tho. 🍻
Can you use a fridge as a fermentation chamber?
Yup. Just have to have enough space for the carboy and a temp Controller. 🍻
Leadturkey. I'm actually surprised you started a brewery with what a homebrewer uses.
Made great beer with it too. It ain't the tools, it's the process 🤘
Inkbird
inkbird is fantastic! I have an old controller for my chest freezer. Keeping everything from fermenting beer to kegs cool. Get one if you dont have one already!
