For those who do not need a full 15KW and want the smaller 5KW, the equivalent is often found surplus as used rental light tower inventory. Light towers are single phase which suits my needs better and are 120/240 volt with a 6KW generator. Most are listed as 6KW on an Izusu or Perkins 3 cylinder diesel. Most come equipped with no convenience outlet or a 15A outlet. Some come equipped with a 240V 30A outlet as an option. Often you can buy the option kit from the manufacture. I picked up a used rental Genie TML-4000n with just over 1100 hours and sun faded paint. Got it at auction for under $1000 recently serviced, full of fuel, and ready to use. Installed the option kit and use it for both emergencies and live events to power the sound stage. The tower is handy for the night before the event setup and after event teardown. During the event, turn off the 4KW of lights and power the event stage. As mentioned in the video, the 30 gallon fuel tank onboard will run for well over 60 hours for the event without a refueling. I don't even take a fuel can to events. Fill it at a gas station on the way home from an event and it is fueled ready for use.

A very informative video, being ex military it brings back memories of my tour in Vietnam when back in base camp. What I would like to know is where to purchase on of these units? I live in Wisconsin close to Oshkosh where they have a military contractor building all sorts of thing!
If you have any fitment issues with that big baldwin oil filter hitting the back of the governor, use the hmmwv oil filter off the 6.2 or 6.5. Same thread and fit but smaller and less of a pain to fit it in their. Spot on on the oil changes I had several on deployments with 20,000+ hours and still going.
The recommendation is to run between 50 and 80% capacity. Otherwise diesel generators build up carbon in the cylinders and valves. Running close to 100% can burn off the carbon, thus reducing maintenance cost and cycles. Under-loading these monsters will always cause problems and run up operating cost per kilowatt.
What if i wanted to use one with a net meter in a gridtie setup instead of solar panels? I would be running used veg oil or used engine oil thinned with used mineral spirit or "bad" gasoline. Would feeding the grid load the generator sufficiently to help it keep the carbon out?
This is a man oozing with character and pride. Much respect to you, sir.

What is the preferred method of communication with Anthony Hill?
Please scroll to the very end of the video at 24:59 and you will find Mr. Hill's phone number. He usually answers- if not, leave a message and your call back number.
Can these be converted to 15w single phase 120/240 for home use? What is the max amps if they can be converted to 120/240?
in 220/230 V 50Hz - we have in Germany/EU-Europe are 16-AMPERE = Housing,
many Civ.-GenSets are equipped 380/400 Volts (most w/ 2-each-220-V + 1x-ea 380-V
in small GenSet-moveable, gas by briggs+Stratton - o- Kohler, also diesel engines
- actually in Markets/shops - you will find also China-GenS- with B+S and -or-Kohler engines
- some peoples - take solar-panel - using as TV/Radio, or hand crafted Tools. with or w/o
applicated wit battery (car) Also you can
with a Transformer: reverse Volts : from 230-V - into= 120-V or from
120-V -into = 230-V-, in our case - my mother brought with her - in the 60-ties
a big Gen.-Motor Electric- freezer - 110-V, so with transformer fittett to-230-V;
May I advise. Most important wll be: Electric-wire: -3-wires, consisting of:
1=-0= irden / 2- Plus / 3/ -Minus - the wires are in different colors for applications
and if you want 100% - sure especially in Bath/Sanitary - by an use a *FUSE-AUTOMAT*
in Nano-Second, cutting - the Electric (for instance - your hair-fön falling in bath
or lavatory = you passing - ... WITH them - NO - occurence..
I hope be able to support you, otherwise sice 10-months I guess you found solutions,
Best wishes from Germany,
Hey. Mark how can I reach you?
A very informative video, being ex military it brings back memories of my tour in Vietnam when back in base camp. What I would like to know is where to purchase on of these units? I live in Wisconsin close to Oshkosh where they have a military contractor building all sorts of thing!
Well you need a nam gremco gen.
very good MEP-805A
Nice piece of kit. 👍
Check.
No EGR valves on these, therefore no carbon… oil sponges off the carbon from blow by, and it’s a very very small amount.
