I think you are talking about a Gun Sling. I did this in this video with the bottle at 3:57 Is that what you are talking about?
That's it! He did it with a shaker though, I assume it's pretty much the same movement with a bottle.

He taped it with well, tape.
Yep. White tape. We put tape to hold on the base and differntiate our shakers from each others.
