  • In this video I visit the grave of Jay Sebring, famous celebrity hairstylist and sadly, more well known as one of the Manson Family murder victims from that fateful August night in 1969 on Cielo Drive.
Opening song : Headlines by Jory Nash from the album Northlander www.jorynash.com
Thomas John Kummer (October 10, 1933 - August 9, 1969), known professionally as Jay Sebring, was an American celebrity hair stylist, and the founder of the hairstyling corporation Sebring International. Sebring was murdered by members of the Manson Family along with his friend Sharon Tate.

Jay had his arm up, ready to punch Tex Watson in defense of Sharon, when that monster turned around and shot him. He may not have gotten a chance to defend himself and his friends, but I always will acknowledge and appreciate his effort. His legacy will live on for as long as men’s hair design, and the techniques he created. The man will always be a legend.

Wisteria his autopsy showed he had defensive wounds he lunged at Watson I think so he didn't go down without trying Voytech too but I can't stop thinking how scared Sharon was when Jay was gone and then they were all gone and she was alone with those demons her last words were Mother Mother

Patricia Krenwinkel was granted parole last week she was one of the killers that night at Sharon's house I know the Sebring family have to be very upset by this , but the Governor has overturned other Manson murderers like Leslie. Van Houten who always had the best chance to be paroled so chances are good he will reverse Krenwinkel 's release too. RIP Jay Sharon & baby, Voytek Abigail, Steven Parent and Leno & Rosemary LaBianca.

The thing I will always remember about Jay is that he loved Sharon until his last breath. He tried to protect her and her baby boy until the very end. In my eyes, he died a hero and all the victims will never be forgotten. 💖

I took criminal justice studies and one of the cases we had to watch and study was the Manson family and all the damage they did. After seeing the pictures of this horrible case, I quit my studies and went into a new field. They crime footage was so heartbreaking and to this day I can’t get those images out of my mind. I pray that all the poor souls lost find peace.

Excellent video. Regarding how Jay chose the name "Sebring," he took it from the Sebring Race Course (he was a big race car fan). His actress/girlfriend at the time told him that his real name wasn't "catchy" enough. Also Steve McQueen gave the eulogy at Jay's funeral.

Excellent video. You gave us a personal look at Jay. I feel as well that the rest of the victims become overshadowed by Sharon's fame.. I know how these poor souls died. I'd like to know how they lived. I have seen articles were Steven Parent has not even been named. Im 60 years old and have been following this case all my life. Someone had yet to write the definitive book on the victims. How they lived not how they died.

Not much else was known about it as this was news on the radio in the day.. However listened to your story about Jay Sebring and read a little about him. You gave him justice and honour and a moving tribute. Would never have known about him. After this video his soul will Rest In Peace Scotty. So sad for all the victims and their families. The cemetery is beautiful and the opening song you chose was so peaceful. Thanks❤️✌🏼💕🤗

Jay lived in the former home of actress, Jean Harlow, where her husband was found dead. Sharon said she saw the vision of a short man in that house who might have been a ghost. Some find the connection to the short Manson.

His grave was very well maintained. People are still thinking of him and visiting him. The first thing I noticed about his headstone is how someone dug around it clearing out any grass that would cover his name. It also appeared that 2 gravestones to the left of his was also a veteran but I didn't see a flag. Perhaps I misread something. Thanks again Scott and see you later.

A friend of mine briefly rented a house with another guy & it was known to have Charlie M. & the beginning of the time he spent gathering his evil flock. They didn't stay there too long before heading south. I hated going there. Once we stayed the night as it was a long drive to town & we'd had a couple drinks. I couldn't sleep & couldn't wait to get out of there. I know freaked myself out, but even so, I never went back. I didn't know this much about Jay Sebring. It is a gorgeous cemetery, so plush. I hope he's resting in peace. 💔💞

My first area of study in college was Criminal Justice. We studied the Manson Murders as an example of how NOT to conduct and investigation. Two murder scenes, two police divisions....did NOT work together at first, even though all the evidence pointed it was the same type of crime. The investigation was a bumble from start to almost the finish. They FINALLY got their acts together, but The Manson family would have been caught much sooner if the police had worked together. It brought about a lot of changes in police departments, to quickly SHARE information no matter how insignificant it might seem. The Manson Murders and JFK, have both been high areas of interest to me.

Jay was still in Love with Sharon and she was still in Love with Him, that's why sharon was pregnant with Jay's baby, who in Their right minds would still be Best Friends with an ex, I certainly wouldn't be !! Sharon hung out with druggies and with Her self centeredness got 4 people murdered,She was 26 Years Old,She couldn't stay alone ? Ohh please,Sharon was very immature.

Wow, what a horrible comment. First of all, the baby was not Jay’s, it was Roman’s. Secondly, it was Roman who asked Gibby and Voytek to stay on at the house to keep Sharon company after she arrived back from Europe. Thirdly, your awful victim blaming is disgusting and false. Sharon did not get anyone killed. The murder had nothing to do with drugs. It was committed by a bunch of stupid young people doing Manson’s bidding. He picked the house because Terry Melcher, a record executive who turned Manson down and wouldn’t give him a record deal, had previously lived there. Manson knew he had moved out but targeted that house to give Melcher a scare. You should refrain from making nasty and ignorant comments when you know so little about the case.
