  • This is a silver Quarter Repeater Pocket Watch. It chimes on two gongs when the slide in the side of the watch is activated. It will ring out the elapsed hours and quarter hours. One hammer is hidden under the other. This watch appears to have a Swiss patent on the movement. The watch is pendant wind and set. It has a plastic crystal. I would guess the watch was made in late 1800s to early 1900s.

I recently purchased one of these Swiss Quarter repeaters. It has the same movement and patent marks as yours. Although my movement is of a yellow brass alloy and not bright steel. My silver case is a bit different at the stem and crown. It has the serial #, small swiss bear rampant, German crescent & crown, 0,900 and circled "JP" on the inside of back dust covers. The seller had specific date of 1883. Unless the patent # is in 1883, I don't know how they came to such an exact day since the maker of the case and movement was not listed as well.
It is a nice enough working timepiece for the price I paid though. These unmarked Swiss repeaters of this type movement usually still sound nice and better than some more expensive known brands.
You have a nice watch. Do you know if the patent # leads to any dates?
