If you're running your build at 60 fps these days it's not a "good" build in any sense of the word. It's not even a "medium" build. Its a low to base build. I was able to get the CPU, GPU, RAM, PSU, and motherboard, cpu cooler (looks like I didnt need one) all at Microcenter, and then add components from a previous build. FYI - a lot of mid to higher-end cases will have that middle 'locating' standoff, I've found.
Personally, I believe another part of 'futureproofing' your rig is to spend a little more on a nicer case at the outset... my reasoning being that the PSU and the case are the two biggest PITA components to replace or swap... in my view, it's better to save some aggravation later by spending a little more up front. I know cheap cases are enticing and might make a budget go farther, but they are awful to build in, and even worse to do the reverse... having recently moved my kids' system out of a Bitfenix Prodigy case into a Corsair 4000D Airflow, I spent more time trying to undo all the wiring than I did putting everything into the new case!

Especially the CPU power, there was barely any room for my hands to be able to reach the darn thing due to the heatspreaders everywhere in that area.

Yeah Cases are one of the components that last half a eternity and can see multiple builds passing by...so putting a little more into it and get some nice case with space and useful stuff and gimmicks, is almost a must, atleast for me.
Thats why i run the Coolermaster H500M, its spacious, but no too big, has one of the best Airflows is pretty quiet (most the time until the fans ramp up to shove more air thru to your GPU and CPU that run high loads, i'm using Gigabytes SIV and built in Smart Fan Client for the curves) and has a good load of USB and USB-C connectors etc pp, not to mention the little GPU support thing and all the places to put SSDs into. ;)

I'd just like to say about the hard drive cage, I totally agree. At this point, you don't need any hard drives anymore unless you're storing files for a long long time. Games can easily fit into SSD's now and just get a NAS for video and photo content. You can even install Plex on it then

ssd diskspace in relations to hdd if we talk real estate in your pc just aren't cost efficient.
4tb ssd cost like 300 € here and if you just get a hybrid hdd for half the price you won't feel the difference for gaming.
unless it's load intensive but i would always run 1tb m2 with a bit of cache and 4tb hdd hybrid to load games faster over time.

Linus should mention that patience is key with that RTX 3070 Ti. I know plenty of people wanna build their 1k 4k PC right away but if the graphic card isn't on sale at a reasonable price, you should just wait a little and keep a eye on the markt. I promise that within a month a good deal will pop up for a second hand GPU.

@@SasquatchComposites Whether 4K is worth it mostly depends on the size of the monitor and how far away from it you sit. If you're using a 42" inch monitor like I used to, the difference between 4K and 1440p should definitely be noticeable. But it can also depend on how sensitive you are to picking up details on a monitor, because with my current 28" monitor I still strongly prefer using 4K. Generally the ideal PPI (pixels per inch) is at least a little over 100, and a 27" 1440p monitor would achieve that.

I'm concerned those small bits will bend/twist in an application requiring self-tapping screws etc.
