- We landed in the Portuguese island of Madeira! Off the mainland of Portugal, Madeira island is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes we've ever seen. We did the incredible Ponta de São Lourenço hike as well as catch sunrise above the clouds at Bica da Cana. Madeira travel guide and vlog. #madeira #hikingadventures #travelguide
Our first morning here, we didn’t waste any time and went straight to the Eastern peninsula of São Lourenço for a gorgeous morning hike. Very little compares to the red and black lined sea cliffs and basalt columns that plunge straight into the deep blue ocean, and we got to scramble to the highest point in the area to enjoy the never-ending views all to ourselves.
Hiking the trail of São Lourenço is incredibly straight-forward as the terrain is well constructed and maintained for all levels of hikers. After this, we took the long road home to do one of the most beautiful drives on the island, where we found this picturesque old bridge in the midst of a lush green forest.
Bica da Cana is where we witnessed our first ever true cloud inversion as the sun rose from the horizon to above the thick layer of clouds. I didn’t think we’d see a cloud inversion more phenomenal but we did! Stay tuned to see it in the next video!

(Just a sidenote, the intro made me feel dizzy. The transitions are great but maybe using too much of the same effect is probably not ideal! 🙂)

Amazing video! How long did the round trip hike take?
Thank you! We didn’t go the whole way so we only spent about an hour but if you wanted to go all the way to the cafe it will about 2-3 hours round trip!

Thank you! For the vlog portions we’re using the Sony ZV-1 but for all the b-roll and photos we’re using the Canon R5 with the 15-35 and 24-70 lens setup!
