In case you missed the dialogue, Arkham Asylum was shut down soon after the breakout. Quincy Sharp (the warden of Arkham Asylum) won the election for mayor and worked with Strange to build Arkham City, a walled off section of Gotham that now works as a super-prison. Every single inmate from the asylum and Blackgate were then moved to Arkham City. That's why Joker and many other Batman villains are in Arkham City too.

Two Face uses a two headed coin. One of the heads has a scratch on it. That's the side that means it's over. With Two Face you're on trial either way but, the unmarked side gives you a fighting chance.
But there’s dialogue in Arkham Knight where he flips a coin every time you KO someone in the bank, and sometimes it comes up as heads or tails

Rocksteady made some of the best things in this series, they made the free flow combat which other game studios use today, the predator encounters were first done by rocksteady which you can see where insomniac got a lot of their inspiration from

Arkham City is one of my favorite videogames of all time and one of the greatest videogames ever made, it's a masterpiece. It took what Asylum was good at and turned that shit up to 11. The Story, Writing, Soundtrack, Characters everything was amazing and perfect, even the concept art was awesome. The suit is cool as well
The biggest changes were the combat, to this day nothing can match how badass and satisfying it is, the open world and traversal, even the stealth was upgraded.
I hope you enjoy your journey with this game as much as I did the first time I played it

Arkham city takes place about 1-2 years after asylum, knight takes place 9 months after city and origins takes place about 8 years before asylum.
Edit: if you want to go further, ssktjl takes place 5 years after knight and Arkham VR takes place 1 day before knight

I dont know why it took me 4 months to play the game. I bought it for £2ish and didnt touchbit up until yesterday. I put 4 hours into it and enjoyed it. The story is starting to kick in.
As good as this looks Arkham Knight is even better, it’s insane how good that game looked at release in 2015 and still looks great today.
