Vince: "I'm SO excited about this one". Also, Vince face: :|
Kidding, thanks a lot for your work!
My pleasure!
Some people are like swans, all calm on the outside and like a school of piranha under the water. Most people think I am emotionless as I often have a deadpan expression.
Woke up to a Vince video on smooth blends, pain from hand surgery finally manageable, and kid finally tested negative for COVID. I literally got a huge smile when I saw this video and thought, “Christmas morning?!?”
Thank you Vince. This is exactly what I needed!
Awesome, always happy to help.
While I'm watching this I can't stop thinking of how much the musculature reminds me of a Frank Frazetta painting. This is an amazing model and a breathtaking paint.
I'm showing this video to my friend, she has to see this.
It's stunning, and I particularly appreciate how you mentioned the different hues of skin. Not something I usually think about.
Awesome, so glad you enjoyed. :)
Thank you so much as a 50 yr old modeller who used to do aircraft I have fallen for miniatures. I was afraid to step into it but thank you for making it not so scary.
What a great sculpt, imagine this guy bearing down on your troops from across the game table. Not to be gauche right as it comes hot off the presses, but huge conversion potential as well, which is always a selling point I should think... And skin is definitely something I need to hunker down and practice a lot...
It's great fun for sure.
The rest of *what* concepts Vince, we want to see concept art!
Time will tell. ;)
I can't imagine how amazing it must feel to have a model made with your influence and name attached to it.
It's great to be sure. :)
Can't wait to see how CC expands the Human/Giant/Titan line especially if this is the standard they'll go by. Great job Vince.
I am very excited for the second model in the line. :)
@@VinceVenturella Any hints?
Absolutely incredible.
Youre a very talented fella, and the lessons/advixe is really appreciated.
My pleasure!
God I want that sculpt. God I want it painted by Vince. At least getting half of what you want ain't bad. Amazing work on the paint job, teaching via the video, and collab on the sculpt!
Thanks!
Thanks a lot Vincey V, for such gorgeous and amazing content and help. Hope you guys - Jon, Scott & your good self - are having a great time in the UK.
Great work Vince on both the collaboration and the paint job!
can't wait to see more Vince-giants (Viants?) in the future
Gi'anturellis.
There we go.
Love the sculpt-and the skin is perfection. Female titan next, please!! We need better cloud and storm giants out there 😊
The next titan will be female and I am very excited. :)
This has already made me realize a lot of mistakes ive been making. Thank you vince!
Awesome.
This is exactly the kind of model I've been looking for to be my Keeper of Secrets for a Greek mythology inspired Hedonites of Slaanesh army. Thanks Vince and CC!
Sounds awesome.
such a fun video, with some good tips and tricks, as always! I love the swirly bits on the armour.
it may have been mentioned by someone else already, but I personally found the music to be a bit distracting. otherwise, lovely as always! thanks for the video!
Glad it was helpful!
Gorgeous sculpt, outstanding painting, stellar tutorial. Gold as always VV!
Thank you so much 😃
That was a really informative video, and it must be so satisfying to see an idea like that realised.
Glad you enjoyed it! It's totally awesome to be sure. :)
Simply amazing. I kept thinking that any moment you'd say you were done but you just kept going and it got even better. I struggle with realistic flesh tones so this was very helpful. Thank you for sharing with us!
Happy to help as always. :)
One of my favorite videos from you! Excellent job sharing some very advanced concepts in a simple, direct fashion. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You've done Leonidas proud. Glorious
Awesome.
I'm always astounded by your abilities Vince...Thanks for all the great info! And what a great sculpt as well!
My pleasure!
Fantastic tutorial, I def agree that there's nothing more satisying than painting lovely areas of well defined musculature! Been meaning to pick up some CC for ages so will keep an eye out for this one :)
Awesome.
Very nice fig. Thank you for the lesson 🙂
this may honestly be the best video i've seen on painting skin, yet.
Thanks!
Such a wonderful update on doing detailed skin. I am totally sold on the titan!
It's just wonderful. :)
Fantastic sculpt/figure, superb tutorial with easy to follow tips and suggestions (not, for me, necessarily to successfully copy) simply another incredibly good Hobby Cheating insight - thanks, as always, for your time and efforts!
Always happy to help. :)
Absolutely love the sculpt and an amazing paint job!
Wanted to say thanks for putting out a display quality tutorial. My painting is nowhere near this level but it's absolutely what I aspire to, seeing it laid out like this is amazing. So few people seem to put out tutorials at this level so thank you again.
Glad I could help!
It looked very impressive in reality. Great sculpt and fantastic paint job.
Thanks!
Amazing video as always Vince. Thank you for all you do brother.
My pleasure!
that was awesome Vince!!
Thanks!
What a beautiful piece. I really needed this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Dang Vince, you’ve really outdone yourself with this one. Looks absolutely incredible!
Thanks!
Wow. Absolutely superb. Loved amaze balls at the end. Like a frazetta painting. Love it. Thanks.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for helping us! We all love you! This model is certainly more dignified-looking than the ones at the beginning of the video.
Glad to help!
Hot damn. That is some of the most gorgeous skin I've seen painted! I don't have this kit, but I do have the angel Shoshie put out and think I can give this approach a try on that! Been wanting to do more hybrid work with brush plus airbrush and this is a great roadmap for how to approach that.
That would be perfect for this type of work.
Love the mini, Vince! I think these custom made figs that anyone can design is one of the coolest things going on in the hobby right now and gets me very excited for what people will do in the future.
I totally agree!
What a wonderful sculpt! I need one.
It's really wonderful. :)
Wow, fantastic, thank you Vince for another great video!
My pleasure!
Beautiful work, Vince.
Thank you! Cheers!
That is an amazing figure!! So well done, hat’s off to creature caster. Want one but I had no luck connecting. thanks again Vince
It should be available on Monday. :)
@@VinceVenturella thanks Vince!
Love your work
Thank you so much 😀
That is an amazing model & a beautiful paint job.
Thank you very much!
@@VinceVenturella You're welcome. Thank you for your content.
Wonderful video!!
Thanks!
Awesome Vince
Thanks!
Amazing figure, amazing lesson.
Thank you kindly!
Awesome miniature!
Thanks!
I don't spend much time looking at high-end sculpts, but here is something that is full bodied and isn't demonic, gross, or in the likeness of a chunky burly biker dude. Looks really good. Now to stop over at creature caster. Also, thanks for sharing your knowledge of mini painting and the joy it provides as a worth while hobby. Thanks Vince.
Happy to help!
I've been staring at this ogroid thaumaturge for 2 weeks trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I heard "muscle islands" and everything clicked. thank you.
Awesome!
That’s awesome you got a chance to work on this. Insanely gorgeous paint job but that’s just par for the course who are we kidding?
Thanks, it was super fun!
Absolutely 100% deadpan: 'I am so excited about this video.'
This is me excited. :)
Another great tutorial from our favourite Vulcan Science Officer. “It’s painting Jim but not as we know it”.
Not as we know it. :)
Great video vince!
An idea for a future video would be cold skin. By this I mean skins in cold environments. I just starting a norse/viking project and can't find any instructional videos on painting cold skin!
Muscle Islands.....Vince over here using Squidmar terms. I kept seeing Emil raising his hands "all the way up." 😂
Oh, that term far predates Squidmar, but his advice in the display video is absolutely correct. :)
Great tutorial! All it needs is the background music to be the Pillar Men theme.
There you go.
I think you've said in a couple videos leading up to this how much you like to paint muscley guys, so I guess this shouldn't be a surprise! Great sculpt, and great video.
Thank you!
Hey Vince V, you're the goat.
Holy shit he looks amazing! im really excited about the rest of the range! would love to see somthing similar in terms of scale with influences from Greek or Norse mythology.
I am very excited as well. :)
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thanks!
Yes, more models like this please
Working on it. :)
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!
I just love how you make the muscles look better in about 4 minutes than I do in about 2h-s :D I should really improve and paint more :D
It's just all practice. :)
@@VinceVenturella as someone once said, hard work always beats talent :D I have to put in more time, for sure. But it is not exactly easy to come by minis with nicely defined naked body surfaces :D
Wow! And I learned something.
Always happy to help!
Like for Vince, for Giants, for learning and well, everything really. Thanks for another great video.
Glad you like them!
Super awesome
Thank you! Cheers!
WHAT A SCULPT
WHAT A PAINT JOB
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Would be cool to get an idea about a time frame for such paintjob. Its always interesting to see, by looking at "this stage" how long it took, especially figuring out "translating: to army/group".
Also, would be cool to see at some point your Slaanesh Titans reviewed - quite interesting to get tips about "display quality" TMM, or might be just how to make TMM from battle ready to the next lvl.
Regards
Great suggestion!
Vincey V casually being terrifying: "I've said a few things I'd like to summarize here. With a bullet. "
;)
I love the old bronze armour look. Is there a video/recipe for that already on your channel?
There is not, but it was just the progressing through deep jade green to a higher tint by integrating ice yellow.
@@VinceVenturella Tossing my hat in the ring for a tutorial in a future vid! It's simply stunning.
That is one sexy sculpt Vince!
Yes, indeed.
You deserve way more subs than what you have.
Thank you, that means a great deal, but we will get there. :)
Vince, you should check out the models in the Mythic Battles Pantheon skirmish game.. And their Titan expansions if you like gods and titans.. Just to paint for fun. That original kickstarter is all Greek gods and titans... They just did a Norse one called Mythic Battles Ragnarok. It's solid hard plastic sculpts.. No bendy cmon swords. If you like titans n giants anyways
I'll check it out!
Looks great as always and informative. How is the exlemplar wet palette I was in the process of moving when the pledge manager was available and missed my chance and was curious what u thought of it
I really love it. Totally worth it.
Thanks for the video! This one has been one of your most informative yet. I've been trying to apply lessons learnt here to a large scale bust, but I'm wondering if you have any further insight on working on large smooth areas of skin? Large faces have much subtler definition than these areas of muscularity. I'm finding it a bit harder to figure out where the midtone should lie and how quickly I should progress with gradients for a realistic lighting situation.
With something like the face, the best answer is always reality, studying a real human under the lighting situation you are trying to create will lead you, there are many, many, many resources for faces with different light sources. You can also of course study the old masters and their paintings. The short answer is the light should be pushed into the T-Zone of the face and bring whatever micro details there out and express them.
@@VinceVenturella thanks for the response, having progressed further I've found that going back to art history and looking at the techniques done in oils have been really informative - especially with the use of different hues in skin.
The kind of strange thing about a giant like this, is that we can recognize them as normal humans in a bigger scale. Fantasy giants have a unique appearance that makes them look like a "giant", not only a big normal human.
Personally that doesn't matter much to me. The only thing I care about is if I like the sculpt or not (and I do Vince, I very much do).
That's why elements on the base are scaled, when he's in universe, he then shows the scale. :)
@@VinceVenturella fair enough, did not realize that.
0:29 I see that you have received the second base set from Kimera. Interesting paints. Also uncommon pigments we don't see often (at least I don't when I check to see what is commonly used in artist paint brands).
Yes indeed.
Great work, great tutorial and great sculpt. Really hope you can work more with cc to get more of your concepts out in the world
My only feedback though is the music. It gets quite loud in parts of the video, and distracts a lot from what you have to say
That's the plan! and I'll watch the music balance.
This is brilliant. Im learning so much. Can you make more videos like this? I mean like how to paint display models?
Always, there will be more videos of all types and definitely display.
Oh look Vince's doing another giant .... WTF?! Good god he's beautiful!!!! That *armour*... arrrrgh I NEED HIM NOW! (Also thanks so much for another great skin tutorial Vince!)
Glad you enjoyed. :)
Hey Vince,
thanks a lot for the great vid. Especially the details on the Airbrush work. Would love to see more :-)
Second question - is the Miniac/Ninjon intro gone for good? Kinda loved it ^^
Nope, it's still there. :)
@@VinceVenturella just re-watched… no clue how I missed it oO cool ;-)
I freaking love you dude you're the coolest!5 I literally study your videos and feel that you definitely deserve some of my money I'm very interested in what you got going on on patreon and I don't feel like me liking every video is enough you're the best there's nobody like you thank you very much my pretend friend you're with me at work you're with me while I'm painting at home you even come with me to the bathroom sometimes I'm sorry about the lack of punctuation this is a text to speech or reverse that run-on sentence thank you goodbye!
Great as always Vince!
Are you going to have more spots opening up for the 5th tier?
Yes, eventually I will expand.
Smoooooooooooth~
Indeed. :)
The model is absolutely incredible. Do you have any other videos that show you working with this piece? I’ve purchased it and I’d like to follow along with more of your videos if possible.
This was the only one sadly.
Great video as always! Which airbrush do you use? (do you have any opinions on Badger brushes?) As always, thanks for doing what you do!
I use mainly Iwata and Harder & Steinbeck, both great airbrushes.
TBH Vince superior paint job as allways but regarding mini itself - it look like big human. There is nothing on it as far as i see that say it is giant. He have very human proportion - if it would say it is 1/56 scale human warrior i would not ask twice to confirm that. I know this is most likely by design but well - looks like scaled human.
Once again superior paint job.
Titans are scaled, perfect humans (from both mythology and games like D&D). The armour and weapons sell it to me as something above and beyond human. Plus the size!
When he's on the base and you see the other items that are scaled, I think that brings it in to focus. Glad you enjoyed. :)
Great content, Vince, but could you consider tweaking the audio levels in future videos? I found the music rather loud in places; it also didn't help that this particular track yanks away attention through its pronounced highs and lows -- at least for me.
Yep, I am working on balancing all of that out. :)
Hey. I love your work.
Could you plase tell me how you did your amazing armor sheme. Is it bronze with a heavy verdigris?
It was pretty simple, it was a pthalo green with some black shade and then glacier blue highlights.
Awesome tutorial! In which kind of pressure range are you usually applying glazes with the airbrush?
18PSI (but with fine triger control).
@@VinceVenturella thank you!
Love it Vincey V. Love the figure. Could you use deep purple or deep turquoise or another dark cold colour for skin and get away with it? P.S. I have many inks including Paynes Grey thanks to your tutorials. Appreciate your work
Absolutely doable yes.
Heya Vince!
I'm interested in trying to paint minis as if they were standing in rain!
Tried looking but it didn't seem like you have a HC-video on the subject.
Seems really tricky... I mean... so much of what makes something "rainy" is about all the drops in the air...
So yea, just a quick idea for a HC video maybe :)
Thanks for all the help,
greetings from Sweden!
That would be one of those things that are truly nearly impossible. It is possible, but boy, that's a challenge. Something for a future HC.
great video, I need to be braver and use more yellow - just fyi I think your audio ducking is a tad borked, music was going up and down at odd times a few times (though I might just be sensitive because I keep screwing it up in mine lol)
Yeah, I am going to look into that.
Wonderful video and extremely useful as always! Music is a bit annoying at times. Could you pick something more atmospheric if you want the music?
Noted! :)
Oh please tell me your doing a tutorial for this whole dude? He looks awesome 10/10.
Sadly this is the only video, but very glad you enjoyed. :)
Great video Vince,. Question, is the airbrush glazing approach realistic for a smaller scale 28mm model?
It can be, but it depends on what we're talking about. Something like a space marine - easy, something that is very complicated with lots of small parts, not as much.
I’m still very new to airbrushes and am having a hard time understanding how you have so much control with it in this video. I feel like I’d be coating half the mini if I tried this. What needle tip size and air pressure setting are you using? Any other hints for getting that amount of control?
That's a .3 needle and 18 PSI, so completely standard, but the answer is really practice, keep in mind, I am also using very, very, very thin paint as you saw, so you build it up slowly. The trick is just working with your airbrush (and it needs to be a relatively nice brush, but nothing crazy) and getting that trigger control.
I'd love to see a video on skin over an android/something with synthetic parts underneath :D
Like a terminator? (That wouldn't be any different) - or where you can see parts?
I'm having trouble with the glazing part. When I thin my paint down to that level where it's like water, it always seems to cause spiderwebbing, no matter how low I bring the pressure. Im also using a Iwata eclipse. I'm not sure if my trigger control is lacking or if I'm over thinning.
It's a trigger control thing, I wish that wasn't the answer, but its really a time and practice thing. You get a sense of how close you can go and the exact tiny touch.
I don’t have any Kimera colors what alternatives would you recommend in place of? I have a lot of paints/brands just not the Kimera ones.
Any similar tones in Vallejo or Pro Acryl would work just fine for this.
Hi there, Vince!
You mentioned in a Q&A or two long ago wanting to do a video on how to approach the Warcolours Flesh set. I know you've down a quick run down (in another Q&A, which I can't find in my history); do you still plan to do a video?
Thanks!
I will see what I can do!
