  • This song is called “Last of the Hunters” and is a tribute to the fishing industry.
The video is a mix of old and new footage and photos of well-known figures of fishing past and present and of the many fishing connections of the band. There are also photos of many of the ports referenced in the song.
Rory’s Uncle Alec Thorburn, age 81 can be heard on backing vocals and features the closing photos and his boat Green Pastures is seen in a photo at Fisherrow from 1964. Angus’s late father, Hector is seen on his boat Harbour Maid and his boats Alice Robert and Ros Nuala are seen. Angus’s uncle Iain “Skipinnish” MacDonald and his brother Neil also feature and 22-year-old Angus himself makes a couple of appearances at the wheel of the Harmony.
There are many other photos of good friends and those with connections to the band. Feel free to comment below on the fishermen and boats you recognise.
A huge thanks to all those who provided the content of the film and to Paul Riddell for bringing it all together.
We hope you enjoy “Last of the Hunters”.

Brilliant song and video, best tribute to the fishing, that is now a "shadow" of its former self. I am a Lossie Loon. Lossiemouth is mentioned and the Ajax INS.168 was featured in the photos. Was owned by the Campbell family o' Lossie. My Dad was a skipper, and fished mainly fae Lochinver, his boat was Spinaway INS. 306 and before we emigrated tae Western Australia, his last boat, was the Sapphire UL.194. Sadly, the Sapphire was lost off Stoer Head, 1977, as she was steaming roon tae Lossie of a paint. RIP crew o' the Sapphire UL. 194. Gone but never forgotten.

Hi Janis, I will always stay Golden as you say. I posted my comments, because the fishing is, still a part of my HERITAGE and very proud of all the boats and men who crewed on them. Another reason for my comment, was because of what has happened to the fishing, not just in Scotland, right around the British Coast. Harbours that were always busy Monday to Friday, Saturday mornings, was, getting the boat ready for the next weeks fishing. Those harbours, are full of pleasure boats now, that, maybe are used three or four times a year.
Its the Politicians of Britain and the EU, that have culled the boats and almost culled those once prosperous fishing towns. They way our Fishing Industry has been treated, is just an absolute disgrace.
      Take Janis, talk soon.
      Jimmy xxxx

Love this song. I've been out on the scallop dredgers out of Kirkcudbright some years ago and still remember today the loss of the Solway Harvester 11th Jan 2000 off the coast of The Isle Man, with the loss of 7 crew members, two of them just 17.

I live on the Isle of Man and in the reception of the government offices is a plaque from the people of Scotland thanking the people here for all they did and the respect shown to the poor men who lost their lives on the Solway Harvester. Whenever I go in there I always take a moment to read it, bow my head to remember the men and their families. Very sad.

I love it. Wonderful! Makes me think of my childhood in Skagen, Denmark. My grand father Carl Andersen made in his company "Andersen & Sørrig" equipment for fishing boats back in the 1970-80's. As far as I know he also provided a lot of equipment for english and scottish fishing boats.

I gave up fishing in 1983 as it was clear how destructive and short-sighted the industry was. Catching fish while using all the electronic aids available these days is not hunting.
