    Thanks Jig head tv for all the tips you shared. I was able to land 9 kg baracuda with my light set up. Correct drag and right rod angle while fighting the fish.. I was able to land the monster fish. Salute brother.

    Very good information, this is a mistake I was doing .I was always close the drag to maximum and it was happening to me that I loose many large fish when they pull the line with strong.
    And I was surprise that I have shimano nasci 5000 reel with a breaded line but still loosing fish where I have seen other people using reel of 1500 and catch large fishes about 2 to 5 kg even little more.
    Thanks 🙏 for sharing this information.

    I also noticed setting the drag too high, even if your line can handle it sometimes causes the hook to rip off the fish lips, so you start losing fish without the line getting snapped. Happens a lot with trevally and smaller queenfish because they have sensitive lips.

      It depends on the fish. Some fish has strong jaws that requires a very powerful hook set to drive the hook through the jaw. If your drag is too weak and the hook is not set through, you will lose the fish when it jump out the water and shake its head. In Washington, we fish for King Salmon and most fishermen have drag close to max to set the hook.

    Amazing one mo 👍 keep going u r the best,, I think now we can move to next level and talk about finding and testing fishing spots specially testing, we can also can talk about lure coloers and types by seasons,( some times soft bait become more active than hard lures,, that fir example)

    hey Moe, how are you jighead? i have a question for you, if you don't mind replying to.
    consider the following:
    i have a rod with max line weight of 16lb, and i have read somewhere in the forums, that the drag should be 1/3 or 1/2 your line weight.
    meaning: your reel should have a max drag of 8lb maximum.
    is that correct?
    the reason why i am asking, i read a lot of specs where the max drag on the reel is 10kg (22lb), and the rod i'm trying to fine tune the line and the reel on, has a max line weight of 16lb.
    i know that you might tell me, that if i do go with a 22lb max drag reel on a 16lb rod, never close your drag. i know that. but accidents might happen.
    is it safer, more reliable to use always a 1/3 or 1/2 your line weight, as max drag on a reel?
    thank you in advance, i hope i was able to clarify my question as much as i can.
    peace

      The answer for this is very debatable. If you can find a reel that is exactly on the same full drag of the rod specs that will be great. But usually drag is adjusted by you on the reel itself, so you can fine tune it there, but you will always have to adjust it according to situations, type of fish you fight, and lure type. The only time I close full drag on my reel is when I wash them after fishing. Rest of the time I keep adjusting drag for every lure, or jig or type of fish. So I would say knowing you max drag capacity on reel is important, so you can adjust it each time to different rods, but I would not bother searching for reel that will exactly fit max drag of rod. Manufacturers created reel with adjustable drag for the reason you tuning it your way. I hope this explains my perspective on this. Thanks for good question

      @@JIGHEADTV your answer met my expectations, and i'm conviced with the answer.
      still i have another question if you don't mind.
      if i am using a 12lb braid line, how much leader line weight should i use on it?
      the reason why i am asking, is i read that it should be Two times or Two and a half time the braid line weight, thats like 24lb to 30lb leader line weight. is that correct?

    • @JIGHEADTV
      @JIGHEADTV  4 роки тому

      Leader line is also usually used according to situations. For example if my braid is 12lb and I do rockfishing, with high snag possibility I would use less than 12lb leader so I can cut my line without loosing leader, just on on jig or Jighead knot. If I fish for pelagics, I would mostly do 1.5 of main line power. If I have very sharp rocks that might damage my leader I might go for double. But thicker the leader less sensitivity.

    Can you help us out..with a chart on how the PE translate to LBS the braid does not always have the PE but LBS thnx

  • @ДенисСизов-ъ7м
    @ДенисСизов-ъ7м 6 років тому

    Do you use backing for your PE when you have 1.5 at your 5k reel? Otherwise, you would need like 500m of 1.5 to fill the spool.

    • @JIGHEADTV
      @JIGHEADTV  6 років тому +1

      Yes sure, I have 300m of pe 1.5 there the rest is backing, I will respool it soon with 2 pe
