The scene between Gino and Elizabeth after Pete's funeral is so touching and it really sticks out to me from this episode. And what he told Elizabeth when she asked what death is was just beautiful. "Death is closing your eyes and instead of darkness you see the light." And I love how he told Elizabeth about his parents. It was a great scene- really well done.
I was going to make a similar comment, but will piggyback yours! Easily one of the best scenes in the whole series -- so well written, and while I was touched by Gino's explanation of death to Elizabeth, I was most struck by Grandpa and Grandma, eavesdropping and looking up at the pair. The tears in their eyes as they listened to that "light" comment -- they surely didn't seem to be acting at all, so convincing were their performances.
This scene was a favorite of mine, too, between Gino and Elizabeth. Still is. Watching the rest of the Waltons overhearing their conversation seemed to touch them as well, especially considering their Baptist, born-again faith. Maybe Gino left feeling inspired. I realize they were only acting, but even the actors portraying the Waltons must have enjoyed certain scenes and familial situations. The writing was so well done for the show and the actors were so believable in their delivery--there is no question as to why The Waltons was so loved and such a popular show!!
The Waltons was definitely a rainbow in my childhood and it still is! I turned 57 two weks ago, and I spent my birthday watching season 2! This was one of the episodes. It was a lovely way to spend my birthday!💝
That scene where John has his shotgun pointed at Gino, with the storm in the background, is classic. The ending was so touching. Gino had the words Elizabeth needed to hear.
By explaining the meaning of death to Elizabeth and his experiences with it, I think Gino was able to help her and help himself grieve--death is a part of life. He & Elizabeth are both ready to move on. My only daughter passed away just over four years ago...there isn't really closure with the death of a child at any age, but as Elizabeth probably learned later from her family, we'll join our Christian loved ones in Heaven one fine day. The Walton faith and my very own has been my saving grace in trying times. Even listening to the Walton music is comforting and I feel blessed to be so associated.
Even though those years were difficult for everyone, being that it was the depression era, many folks managed to hold their heads above water, so to speak. The Waltons represents those people. Through hard work, togetherness, faith, understanding and compassion, we can accomplish so much and life here on God's green Earth would be better. After a day of work n a bit of stress, watching the Waltons has become like a warm, comforting blanket in which I can wrap myself up n feel great and forget about it all. Thank you Judy for another wonderful video. Be safe! ❤
The Depression Era was a more simpler time and moral values were higher than today. My parents were brought up during this time and passed along many of the more simple traits along to myself and my brother. I live in western Georgia where much of roads and bridges were created by President Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corp. One of my favorite vacation spots in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee were created by many CCC workers. Thanks for sharing this Judy!
I loved the Waltons as a child and thru out my life including now. I have all seasons on DVD and watch several episodes per week. It takes me back to a much safer, happier, kind time In life. I adore every character.
Judy, Judy, Judy….. last week I was all hopped up over Michael Learned’s appearance on Gunsmoke, in the episode, Matt’s Love Story. It first aired on September 24, 1973 (while The Waltons was currently filming, too!). The episode is famous for the fact that it was the only time during the 20 year run, that Matt Dillon ever kissed a woman, including Miss Kitty! Her name on that episode? Mike. Today on Gunsmoke, the episode it the 2nd part of a two parter, titled A Game of Death…. An Act of Love, and she’s playing a red headed bordello “worker.” Yeah, Ma was a HOOKER! FASCINATING seeing her NOT playing the Bible thumping mom, in her maroon satin saloon dress, green parasol and big black sparkly hat with multicolored plumes, with red lipstick!
I love this episode, it’s one of my favorites ❤️. It is so touching when Gino is talking to Elizabeth on the loft in the barn. Very heartfelt and moving when Gino tells her how he lived in a tenement with rats running around, trash everywhere, and his mom died, then the hoods shot his dad and killed him. His sister was in an orphanage, and he ran away. Elizabeth asked him, “what is death”?, and he said, “ I think it’s when you close your eyes, instead of the darkness, you see the light”. So beautiful… very poignant moment, and touched me very deeply. He had a lot of tragedy in pain in his young life, and lost both of his parents at a young age. His life was deprived of what the Walton children had, both parents and a loving, stable childhood. My heart went out to him. I love the rainbow at the end, a perfect sign of Hope✝️
This was a great episode showing the weakness and strength of the character named Gino. It also showed the many differences between living in a city like New York and growing up on Waltons Mountain. The scene at the end with Gino comforting Elizabeth over the death of her raccoon was especially emotional. Many good storylines have been featured on the Waltons through the years
My mom met my dad in the late 30s because he came from PA to her hometown of Fredericksburg, VA while he was working in the CCC’s. And, on the being barefoot….when I was a kid/teen, our neighborhood roads were gravel over tar….and going barefoot was “the way” to walk. My feet are tough as nails! 😂
I grew up on a farm in Tennessee in the 1960's and went barefoot all summer. I could walk on gravel without much discomfort, stepping lightly; like David Carradine in Kung Fu walking the length of the rice paper without tearing it. 😑
Always liked this episode! The actor portrayed Gino very realistically as someone who had never experienced living with such wonderful people like the Waltons. It was so touching that he took a shine to Elizabeth and the scene in comforting her was amazingly done by Mr Rupert and Kami Cotler!
The Waltons was certainly a rainbow in my life and even more so today as it takes me back to years ago and find memories of my life and the way things used to be . Thankyou Judy for all of your work here !! I really enjoy these special memories and behind the scenes with Judy
Yes same here. I can't believe how much I've missed when this show was on in the 70's. But it's never too late to enjoy and to learn from shows like this today. Even tho it's not "real", each show had a meaningful perspective. I loved how the parents always had the appropriate advice to give to their kids. It is still relevant. And Judy Norton's story retelling makes me feel like she's watching with us all over again, like a friend/neighbor. Thank you.
@@LisaLisa-2023 Yes! I love to rewatch them over and over and it is so heartwarming to know that the cast have a “family” relationship with each other still today! I love hearing her talk about her times filming and it really is like watching the episodes with her ! Enjoy your viewing of each episode and be blessed!
Hi Judy! One of the reasons I love this episode, is it has one of the best lines from John-Boy. When they are all in the barn with Gino, Sheriff Bridges pulls up, and I guess Erin greets him in the car. John-Boy says something like "Erin's talking to Sheriff Bridges, and she's going to blab everything she knows" I laughed so hard at the line. Well, my local cable company is playing Walton's episodes daily. I couldn't wait for this one, and wouldn't you know they cut that scene out! It went from them saying Sherrif is here, to the discussion on the porch about quail hunting. I was robbed!! lol
The Waltons have been a rainbow of something special that once was. I watch episodes still Monday through Thursday two episodes a day , and im sad they did away with the Friday showings. You were always my favorite. 👍
The Waltons have definitely been a rainbow for me over the past year and a half. I’ve watched every episode about 10+ times. Just a treasure Judy. I tear up every episode no matter how many times I watch. The acting was so extraordinary by all. Thanks so much for these behind the scene videos. You were really part of something special 🥰
I love how he spoke with Elizabeth after the raccoon died and was glad he turned a new leaf. I saw this episode recently on MeTV. In fact, The Dust Bowl Cousins episode is playing out as I post this. It takes me back to a happier, simpler time everytime I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing all this with us. It's almost like having a second chance or a do-over maybe. We're enjoying the Walton's all over again, but this time it's from your pov. And I'm not ashamed to say the kid in me is thrilled whenever you respond to a comment I've made. I just want to call my mom up and say, "Mom! Mom!! Mary Ellen just "spoke" to me, Mary Ellen just "spoke" to me!!!" 😂 That's the kind of nostalgia I feel as I listen to you and remember. Thank you. ❤❤❤
Judy this was a wonderful episode. The young man who played Gino did a great job. Touching episode and everyone of you were just fantastic young actors. Thanks Judy. 🌸
This family was so supportive of each other. How many families do you know that would all be together, standing out in the pouring rain, to have a funeral for Elizabeth's beloved racoon. Very touching.
I'm so glad you're going more in order. I think season one is my favorite season, for a few reasons. For one, it was the only season that they included the strum of the autoharp in the opening theme song, which I thought gave more of that Appalachian flavor. I missed it when they edited it out for the subsequent years. Kami was great with handling the raccoon and all the other animals. For one so young, she always looked like it was second nature to her. Maybe one day you could include a segment of her telling her recollections about all the interactions she had with "Elizabeth's" pets. I loved the line where Mama tells Jim-Bob that if he could sell bluing without even knowing what it is, he's probably got a successful future ahead of him. LOL. Thanks for these sweet memories. ✌🌻
Ralph Waite was excellent. I loved his portrayal as a strong, modest and reasonable husband and Father- Just a great human being. I think he was like that in real life too. *only Judy Norton might know* :) The Acting was just stellar - from all of the child actors to the older adults. I'm critiquing too much here I know but OMG, what a priceless classic. Love the Earl Hamner themes, the words, the movement. Ahead of its time. Relatable today. Timeless. Michael Learned added such dynamic to the show. She was no ordinary apron adorned Mom. She had purpose and courage. When she left the show, along with Richard Thomas, the electricity dimmed some. But I still watch it from beginning to end all over again. The cast always delivered.
I've seen SEVERAL interviews where Ralph Waite references this time in his life when he was struggling with alcoholism. He referenced this episode in particular as being a turning point for him, personally. He said that as he found himself doing the scene with Kami, where he has to help her through her first experience with death, he realized that he didn't think he was on the right path in his life and that he wanted to BE MORE LIKE JOHN WALTON- to set an example for ALL of you children in the cast. Sooo...he took active measures to get sober, etc. I think that's beautiful. ♥️ (Along those lines: when you look at Ralph's face, in all the episodes up until this one, you can sort of see the puffiness caused by regular alcohol consumption. As time goes on, and he is sober, it goes away. 😊)
Judy, re: the animals you used, I was wondering if you guys played with "Reckless" during your time off-camera, when he/she (haha!) wasn't in a scene? Or was the dog isolated, with its handler until, it was time to shoot? Thanks so much!! 🐕🐶🐾
I've heard too about how he was inspired by the character to give up drinking. I like it a lot that he did that. And he definitely is noticeably more trim after Season One.
I love that episode, also I remember Ralph saying that that was a turning point in his own life with his drinking. At the very end when Elizabeth is “fixing up ❤️” Pete’s grave, he gives her advice that resonates with his own. Brilliant episode. I also watched The Prophecy the other night and that’s another one of my many many favorites. Thank you for doing these little UA-cam episodes ❤️
I can honestly say that as a African American kid growing up in the 1970s in the Midwest my life mirrored the Waltons in a way. I grew up not having a lot of money but my family..thanks to my mom and dad made sure that we as a family had everything we needed such as i.e. food on the table, a roof over our heads and clothes on our back and most importantly, LOVE. My mom and dad were big on teaching me and my siblings about the need of being a family when times were really rough for us. Also, treating strangers with kindness, even if the stranger never reciprocated it back. Just knowing that our heavenly Father was always watching over us and knowing where our hearts lie. In the end, my upbringing has made me have a great appreciation for the little things as well as the big things in my adult life. 😊 I thank you and love you Mom and Dad. 🙏 Mom, I miss you everyday, since you left us 3 years ago and are now in heaven. I can't wait to see you again and rejoice with you in heaven one day. ❤ 😇💋🙏
Oh The Waltons have been more than a rainbow in my life which is why I still watch an episode or 2 every weekday lunch time!! This was an excellent episode and the explanation of death meaning light and not darkness by Gino to Elizabeth was so true. Thank you Judy for covering Season 1, please keep it up and keep them coming. Lots of best wishes as ever from your superfan in cccccold England😉
Yes, The Waltons was and still is a beautiful rainbow for me. In this episode the touching scene between Gino and Elizabeth stands out but that shot of John holding that gun scared the daylights out of me! Loved him so much! Thanks for this behind the scenes look at this wonderful episode Judy great stuff!
I watched this one today. a really sweet scene when Gino is comforting Elizabeth. and when Ralph id comforting Elizabeth. a cute scene with Ben and JimBob underneath the bed. Gino''s Life was Impacted for the Better by the Waltons. that show has Impacted My Life for the Better as Well. God Bless and take care Judy. ♥
I just wanted to share my Feelings about the Show. I Love these videos your Making. I hope You keep Making them you started this when covid was bad so something good came out of the pandemic. God Bless Judy and take care. ♥
That was a great episode, and great scene with John Walton catching Gino in the act, protecting his family - but in the end being empathetic with Gino.
I love your channel, I grew up watching the Walton's way Back in the 1970s I also have the Entire series on DVDS when will you be covering the episode about Elizabeth breaking her legs I have watched that episode countless times . It was one of my favorite Episodes Stay healthy and safe 👍😎😃😁⚰️😎😥🤔🤗😎😎😎🤠
I appreciate Judy sharing these episodes on how they filmed the shows. This is a child hood healing for me as being a orphan myself beingg in a orphanage.
I like how John extended Geno grace, even after he caught him with his hand in the money jar. Most of us wouldn't have been able to do that. Another example of this being a family show.
Another great segment, Judy. The character of Gino taught me about other places, like NYC, during the depression. I am sure there were many people who experience such, especially in big cities. People in the rural areas could plant a garden, have chickens, a cow, and game in the woods, so food was more available. I didn’t realize at the time gardens were not possible in concrete jungles.
Haha I never noticed the telephone pole for sure, it’s funny how you miss something unless pointed out. I Loved that scene where John caught geno. Reminded me of my dad. The Walton’s always made rainbows 🌈 for me 😀
When you said Micheal actually took a piece of food she almost seemed to look over to you on the right! Thank you for sharing your memories! My dad, born in 1905, said the only money he ever had was a nickel to spend at the county fair (in Ohio). I never thought to ask him what he spent it on!
Thank you so much Judy for taking the time to go over scenes of The Walton's I'm really enjoying them this is My Favorite. Show of all time. We need more shows like this.
Thanks Judy❤️ The Waltons have been one of the best rainbows 🌈 in my life💕 I love Elizabeth with Pete the racoon 🦝 and how Gino changed his ways just by being around all of you. Daddy had compassion ❤️
Absolutely one of the best episodes of the whole series! I've seen this episode countless times and could watch it 1000 more! Thank you, Judy, for bringing back these wonderful memories! You do a great job on these segments!
Hey Judy! Happy Monday! I had forgotten about the bluing scene with Jim Bob but I remember loving the fact that Momma told him if he could sale something without knowing what it is she doesn't have to worry about him doing well. The Walton's always had a way if really getting to know someone and then showing compassion leaving their guest with a new look on life. Can't stop loving that! Thank you Judy 😊
Yes.....” someone has been impacted “. I think everyone that ever watched the Waltons has been impacted. I truly tried to be more understanding with my children every time I watched how John Walton handled situations. Seems so many times fathers ( or mothers ) can make a certain event worse than it really is.....my own father was much like Mr. Walton, but, in today’s hustle and bustle, I sometimes lose focus on what is important. Waltons Mountain certainly can ground you when you lose tract. Great job as always Judy
I enjoyed this episode. My father was in the CCC during this period. It also mentions the Big Meadow, which is a camp ground on Skyline Drive in Virginia. My wife and I went on a getaway trip and I took her and her cousin there to reminisce about their family trips when they were young.
I like the dichotomy within this episode. Gino knowing nothing other than city life and the Waltons knowing only life on the mountain and them learning from each other. Plus John Boys ongoing fascination with life in a big city and absorbing every detail about Hells Kitchen. Great episode ! Cheers ✌
This is one of the editions that help define the Waltons .Very nice video. I saw last night an short interview from Michael Learned She did about 6 years ago on " famous dinner scenes" - I thought she was going to discuss how enjoyable it was to do the dinner edisodes but it was totally different 😃.I laughed so hard I was almost in tears I really did not know she can be that funny extremely funny😄
Judy did one you should check it out, I had no idea actually or thought on how things were done with food on these shows, now i know the secrets. haha cheers
Hello, Judy! I just finished watching "The Dust-Bowl Cousins" - 1972. Actually, the title should have been "The Gangster Cousins", and I know the Walton's were very happy to see them drive off into the sunset! 😬😄😄
Thanks Judy, Another great episode. This one teaches you to not to be so quick to judge someone until you learn their story. Did you noticed to sunshine in the background when it was raining. Amazing how the sun continues to shine during a good rain storm on Walton's Mountain. Take care, stay safe and GOD BLESS.
I forgot about this one or didn't remember it the boy that tried to kill the raccoon he was a troublemaker stealing rude a ride boy but the waltons tried to help him but he was just trouble yeah I need to go back and watch this one forgot about it dinner scenes were all ways great family time I would've hated to see him kill the raccoon very sweet and precious scenes in this episode I can see why grandma didn't trust him he was a thief and trouble at first waltons always tried to help people and take them in good family thanks for sharing this episode John catches him stealing I wouldn't mess with John either judy 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah I will again eventually I've probably watched it but just forgot about it yes by watching the video it definitely is a lovely episode great episode I need to watch this one again
I just love these segments............ so informative. When you mentioned the telephone poles in the background of one of the scenes there was also 'background activity' from a UPS van at your home whilst you were talking :-) I love rainbows and whenever I see one I say 'hello Mam, hello Nanny'........ as my Mam always said a rainbow was our Nanny and then we lost our Mam so we say the rainbows are her too........... with happy thoughts of course !
Judy you gave me a smile thinking back about this episode. I watched it again recently ive been watching the whole series in order again on dvd. I love this episode. I love the positive affect the family had on gino and the happy ending.
Being an adolescent I didn't like the Waltons when it first aired...But I find myself watching it even now...It's still on most of the time..Great characters in the show...
I had to grin a bit when you mentioned The Shadow Knows. When I was a kid, Sergio Aragones from MAD Magazine created a series of comic panels based on that radio show. I got plenty of laughs with that! Thanks for mentioning that! 😂
Judy the shadow knows Judy you are so young. You do look young you know . We don't get old we just get wiser. I remember this episode. It was episodes going to keep you in the edge of your seat.
Another great episode. Whenever I watch that episode I always wonder if Elizabeth is scared holding the raccoon because they can be mean. I would have been so excited knowing that I was delivering a package to Mary Ellen. Thanks and God bless.
Thanks again for doing this work. I was thinking the same thing Judy (the raccoon), but obviously the film crew would not let any actor get hurt - especially a kid - with an animal. That raccoon looked very docile in the clips but I too was a bit nervous at first seeing that animal with Elizabeth :)
Judy I loved this the boy from the CCC. I thought it was very very well done. I love the scene where John Walton is holding the gun on Geno. The lighting in this scene was just perfect. And I did not know that that was man-made rain I loved the scene where they're all in the barn and it's just absolutely pouring down rain. Thank you so much for this appreciate all you do.
I used to go barefoot as a kid all the time and even in my younger days. But now if I even step on a piece of dust my feet can't stand it! Bare feet is for the young!!! Great episode!!!!!
Always great content from the Waltons episodes. Never a dull moment and good family entertainment. We had a raccoon that used to go into the laundry room and sit on the dryer and watch us in the kitchen. Out in the country we lift our doors open most times. (L. A. County area) We think the raccoon escaped from Tippy Hedrens place down the canyon. She had a movie animal farm. Lions , tigers and all sorts and they would get loose sometimes...... Anyways... Thxs enjoy your commentary always
This episode is another example of why I liked Elizabeth when I was in grade school. She did all of the things that girls I liked back then would do. Including the things my current girlfriend (yes, she's a redhead) did back then. I'm so happy that we made contact once again!
These great presentations have certainly put you on my TV radar. Love seeing you preform and growing up on television, and even more these enjoyable comenteries! Who would have ever guessed you are such a woman of achivement !❤😊
The scene between Gino and Elizabeth after Pete's funeral is so touching and it really sticks out to me from this episode. And what he told Elizabeth when she asked what death is was just beautiful. Looks like not only was Gino impacted by the Waltons, but also the Waltons were impacted a little bit by Gino. At least, Elizabeth was.

I agree. Honest, but impactful without being overdone.
Beautifully stated Brenda. Yes - many times scenes didn’t feel acted at all - we just listened to brilliantly written words and responded naturally.
certain tv shows growing up certainly helped me when things at home or school weren’t always good. The Waltons was 1 of those shows. ☺️📺
So glad to hear that.
sadly today TV is evil dark thing I wish I could give everyone my Walton videos the whole series in MP4 format

i live in canada and still watch it on vision tv, love it.
How sweet. Happy belated birthday!! Thanks for spending it with us.
Just another good solid episode and I'm amazed at how natural Kami's acting is at such a young age. Such a cutie!
She was such a natural.
Kami was such a natural talent in every single scene..

Yes, Judy it was a very good experience for Dad. He really liked the C.C.C.

I was part of The Civilian Convocation Core in Jobs Corp 30 years ago.
Thank you Joseph, I wondered what that stood for. What were your duties?
Ah thank you for the explanation
I think it's the Civilian Conservation Core, Joseph. It was established by Congress in 1933 during the Great Depression and lasted nine years.
Oh wow. I hope it was a good experience for you.
Thankfully, we still have the Waltons with us to make us more kind and civilized.
A better for us viewers...my teens think I'm a dinosaur for preferring the more simpler times of the 70s & early 80s.
Certainly wonderful examples of how a family should interact.

Very true. These touching scenes were sort of a trademark of The Waltons.

Totally agree.

I was robbed!! lol
So sorry to hear that.
Yeah ive noticed metv has cut out scenes from different episodes so they can show more commercials
@@waltonsfan7257 In this case they cut the best line of the episode, lol.
@@Lorgayle1 😊
This episode is very touching and love how the Waltons help Gino. Thank you Judy, for presenting it.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
I think this is a phenomenally written episode! Easily one of the best in the series.
Thanks. I’d forgotten how well done it was until I watched it again.
The Waltons have been a rainbow of something special that once was. I watch episodes still Monday through Thursday two episodes a day , and im sad they did away with the Friday showings. You were always my favorite. 👍
They are currently playing The Walton's episodes on MeTV, Monday thru Friday if you want to check that out.
Or you could get the dvd box set and watch them again and again like me, never get bored of it!!👍
@mary allen Yes, so true, never even thought of that advantage😊
@@darkvader7231 me too
Thank you so much. Glad it is special to so many .
Yes. I was very lucky to be part of something so special. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I love this episode. My dad was in the CCC in the 1930s. Thanks for another great video, Judy.
You're welcome.
Talking to a flower is adorable to hear little kids do that
I agree.
This was great. Done so well. Never would have noticed the telephone polls in the distance. Thank you for doing what you do-your channel is wonderful.
Thanks for watching.
one of my favorites. they teach Geno patience. compassion and tolerance. Don't be so quick to judge someone
Great lessons on both sides.
So many scenes that made the Waltons based on it's problems and how they overcame them
I love how he spoke with Elizabeth after the raccoon died and was glad he turned a new leaf. Thank you. ❤❤❤
Aww… thank you so much. I’m so glad you are enjoying these. I did a segment about the Dust Bowl Cousins if you haven’t seen it.
Judy this was a wonderful episode. The young man who played Gino did a great job. Touching episode and everyone of you were just fantastic young actors. Thanks Judy. 🌸
Thank you so much.
This family was so supportive of each other. How many families do you know that would all be together, standing out in the pouring rain, to have a funeral for Elizabeth's beloved racoon. Very touching.
Good point.
Being a orphan myself I can relate to these actors portraying orphans. These are convincing actors.
Good to know.
I pray for God's blessing of love and protection in your life.
Ralph was aways watching burgerlers. He sure kept the family safe.
Thank you so much.
Ralph’s story is quite remarkable. I’m so glad he changed his life. He was Such a good man.
We did play with the dog sometimes.
"He is injured in a knife fight with John Boy". There's something you don't often hear!
lol - West Side Story meets the Waltons.
Thanks so much for watching and for your great comments.
Love the sweet father/daughter moments between John and Elizabeth in this episode
So sweet.
Mom, I miss you everyday, since you left us 3 years ago and are now in heaven. I can't wait to see you again and rejoice with you in heaven one day. ❤ 😇💋🙏
Thank you for sharing that. Your family sounds and you sound wonderful!
Glad you are enjoying the Season One episodes I’m covering.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
So great to hear your feelings about the series.
Very true.
It would be awesome if you could get jon walmsley to show how to play the iron board blues I love that song.
Cool. I’ll see what he thinks.
This is one of my favorite episodes. When Elizabeth and Gino had the talk in the barn..... Absolutely wonderful.
So sweet between them.
I love your channel, I grew up watching the Walton's way
Back in the 1970s I also have the
Entire series on DVDS
when will you be
covering the episode about
Elizabeth breaking her legs
I have watched that episode
countless times .
It was one of my favorite
Episodes
Stay healthy and safe 👍😎😃😁⚰️😎😥🤔🤗😎😎😎🤠
I will get to it soon!
I appreciate Judy sharing these episodes on how they filmed the shows. This is a child hood healing for me as being a orphan myself beingg in a orphanage.
so pleased the show served an important part in your life.
I like how John extended Geno grace, even after he caught him with his hand in the money jar. Most of us wouldn't have been able to do that. Another example of this being a family show.
John Walton really did treat others fairly at all times.
Definitely made it easier for country families.
Love this episode. Don’t mess with John !
Absolutely
Haha I never noticed the telephone pole for sure, it’s funny how you miss something unless pointed out. I Loved that scene where John caught geno. Reminded me of my dad. The Walton’s always made rainbows 🌈 for me 😀
So happy to hear that.

Thank you Judy, Can't Wait for the Next Installment as always something to look forward to....
So happy to hear that. Thank you.
A great episode. David & Kami were so cute in this.
They sure were.
When you said Micheal actually took a piece of food she almost seemed to look over to you on the right! Thank you for sharing your memories! My dad, born in 1905, said the only money he ever had was a nickel to spend at the county fair (in Ohio). I never thought to ask him what he spent it on!
Interesting. Wonder if he would have remembered.
Thank you so much Judy for taking the time to go over scenes of The Walton's I'm really enjoying them this is My Favorite. Show of all time. We need more shows like this.
Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks Judy❤️ The Waltons have been one of the best rainbows 🌈 in my life💕 I love Elizabeth with Pete the racoon 🦝 and how Gino changed his ways just by being around all of you. Daddy had compassion ❤️
Yes it was a good one.
@@judynorton2598 ❤️
Absolutely one of the best episodes of the whole series! I've seen this episode countless times and could watch it 1000 more! Thank you, Judy, for bringing back these wonderful memories! You do a great job on these segments!
Thank you so much. So glad you enjoyed it.
Yep. One of the elements of the show that I always loved.
Nice perspective. Thanks for your comments.
I enjoyed this episode. My father was in the CCC during this period. It also mentions the Big Meadow, which is a camp ground on Skyline Drive in Virginia. My wife and I went on a getaway trip and I took her and her cousin there to reminisce about their family trips when they were young.
I bet it is a beautiful area.
I like the dichotomy within this episode. Gino knowing nothing other than city life and the Waltons knowing only life on the mountain and them learning from each other. Plus John Boys ongoing fascination with life in a big city and absorbing every detail about Hells Kitchen. Great episode ! Cheers ✌
True. You just knew John Boy was going to head to the big city one day.
One of the best episodes
This is one of the editions that help define the Waltons .Very nice video.
I saw last night an short interview from Michael Learned She did about 6 years ago on " famous dinner scenes" - I thought she was going to discuss how enjoyable it was to do the dinner edisodes but it was totally different 😃.I laughed so hard I was almost in tears I really did not know she can be that funny extremely funny😄
Judy did one you should check it out, I had no idea actually or thought on how things were done with food on these shows, now i know the secrets. haha cheers
The eating scenes shot one after the other for hours, could be brutal. Tough on all of us.
I forgot about this o ne, kind of sad about the Raccoon, the boy seemed to very troubled. Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Gino went on to invent the frozen pizza :)
Ha, ha.
Judy, very glad to hear you will review most all the episodes of the show. They are all worth reviewing IMO.
Oh good. Happy to hear that.
This was a touching episode. I remember I was crying thanking about what it meant to loose someone close. Hi from Lutz Florida USA
Definitely tough losing loved ones.
Hello, Judy! I just finished watching "The Dust-Bowl Cousins" - 1972. Actually, the title should have been "The Gangster Cousins", and I know the Walton's were very happy to see them drive off into the sunset! 😬😄😄
lol -Glad I was part of The Walton family and not the cousins !!
@@judynorton2598 Indeed! 😄😄
one of my favorites
Thanks Judy,
Another great episode. This one teaches you to not to be so quick to judge someone until you learn their story. Did you noticed to sunshine in the background when it was raining. Amazing how the sun continues to shine during a good rain storm on Walton's Mountain. Take care, stay safe and GOD BLESS.
downpours can do that, we get them here as well, not uncommon where i live in a valley.
Yep - gotta love those man made - or rather :”studio made” downpours :)
I used to walk around barefoot too during the 60s and 70s would not do it now though....Great episode.
Thanks for watching. Can’t say I do much outdoor barefoot these days.
No he didnt try to kill it, the raccoon was sick to begin with, gino helped elizabeth deal with the death of Pete.
My mistake then thought he was gonna kill the raccoon oh well my bad then Mickey sorry apologize
Hope you get to catch the episode again it really is a lovely episode on many levels.
Yeah I will again eventually I've probably watched it but just forgot about it yes by watching the video it definitely is a lovely episode great episode I need to watch this one again
Another wonderful episode. Thank you for these. I remember listening to the Shadow that some radio stations re-aired during the 70s
Glad you like them!
That is so sweet about the rainbows. Touching memories.
Judy you gave me a smile thinking back about this episode. I watched it again recently ive been watching the whole series in order again on dvd. I love this episode. I love the positive affect the family had on gino and the happy ending.
I agree.
Being an adolescent I didn't like the Waltons when it first aired...But I find myself watching it even now...It's still on most of the time..Great characters in the show...
Wonderful to hear you enjoy it now.
I had to grin a bit when you mentioned The Shadow Knows. When I was a kid, Sergio Aragones from MAD Magazine created a series of comic panels based on that radio show. I got plenty of laughs with that! Thanks for mentioning that! 😂
So glad you enjoyed this.
Thank you for sharing this episode I liked this episode and it was so sweet when Gino was talking to Elizabeth
Nice moments.
the waltons are "somewhere over the rainbow" - they're just east of kansas :) thanks judy!
Wow. Thanks ;)
Just saw this episode the other day! Great one once again 👏
Judy the shadow knows Judy you are so young. You do look young you know . We don't get old we just get wiser. I remember this episode. It was episodes going to keep you in the edge of your seat.
great references from the time…
That dark blue blouse makes you pop. Very nice.
Thank you :)
Another great episode. Whenever I watch that episode I always wonder if Elizabeth is scared holding the raccoon because they can be mean. I would have been so excited knowing that I was delivering a package to Mary Ellen. Thanks and God bless.
I didn’t get the sense Kami was nervous at all about the raccoon.
Love your words at the end of this💕.
Thank you.
Things were a little loser in those days about safety - but still no one really got hurt.
That. Was a nice show Judy thank you
My pleasure.
Very good episode, I seem to remember a lot of references to the deceased Racoon in future episodes also.
True. I believe we did refer back.
Meaning stealing. This episode was touching how there was unity.A light at the end of the tunnel.
A GREAT EPISODE
Judy I loved this the boy from the CCC. I thought it was very very well done. I love the scene where John Walton is holding the gun on Geno. The lighting in this scene was just perfect. And I did not know that that was man-made rain I loved the scene where they're all in the barn and it's just absolutely pouring down rain. Thank you so much for this appreciate all you do.
So glad you enjoyed it
I used to go barefoot as a kid all the time and even in my younger days. But now if I even step on a piece of dust my feet can't stand it! Bare feet is for the young!!! Great episode!!!!!
Yes, somehow barefoot loses it’s charm after our teen years.
Thank you for another beautifully made segment dear lady. ;o)
You are so welcome!
Great episode Judy :-)) It was about family for sure the boy Gino seeing that :-)) oxoxo
Glad it meant something to him.
Oh wow. Love the raccoon story.
I always get such a kick out of the gigantic coffee grinder in Ikes store lol. I wonder if Joe Conely had to be taught how to use it
Great question.
This episode is another example of why I liked Elizabeth when I was in grade school. She did all of the things that girls I liked back then would do. Including the things my current girlfriend (yes, she's a redhead) did back then. I'm so happy that we made contact once again!
That’s so nice. Happy for you both.
These great presentations have certainly put you on my TV radar. Love seeing you preform and growing up on television, and even more these enjoyable comenteries! Who would have ever guessed you are such a woman of achivement !❤😊
