I always choose the thinner and more flaky filets of halibut when I buy it at the store. This is key when cooking whether frying, pan searing and oven finishing, or just baking or broiling. Even flakiness helps distribute flavors of spices, smaller flakes are much more tender. However once in a while I will buy good size square looking filets to make my specialty... Pistachio Encrusted Seared Halibut with a Garlic, Lemon, Butter and Cream Sause with Asparagus, and Roasted Red Potatoes with Garlic & Onion.

Opening the video with a demonstration of the proper use of a file is a big plus for me.
In my 7th grade metal shop in 1964, the teacher Mr. Edge, (really) made me write "A file only cuts on the forward stroke." 100 times on the blackboard, Some things just stick with you.

the part where the yellow eye first start comin up you could see something sticking out of its mouth and a common misconception is that its the air bladder but actually its the stomach thats why all that junk falls out when they come up from deep places, the air bladder is separate from the stomach and pushes out the stomach while they both fill with air

@@EISAlaska I am from far away - Bulgaria. Thanks for the nice adventure for us! I have a book about octopuses. She began by describing a case from ancient Greece. There was a good cook there. Octopuses became fantastic with him. One day he had a big client. I don't remember the name, but he was a serious man - a good man, like you. He really enjoyed the well-roasted octopus. He ate, ate, and finally got the interweaving of the charm! It is very painful. They called a doctor. The man said to him: You have messed up! There is no fix! You'll be dead in two hours! Our hero - he was spoiled a lot, but he decided that he would at least eat properly! He made a decision and said to the Master: I will die anyway! Then let me eat the head of the octopus too! At least I know I ate this deliciousness! I read the book 40 years ago, but I remember that the tentacles of the octopus before being cooked are beaten with a wooden club. To relax the muscles. Otherwise, the meat remains tough, rubber...

Hi Ralph! It's Matt replying, we tried cooking some with a quick batter once but couldn't get it to be tender. I'm thinking the leg might have been too big, (it was like a 1-1/2" disk). We'll try again sometime after learning the proper cooking technique. That sounds delicious though!

Heroes - I catch them bigger than that!
Pros - that's nice. I only got 700 of them this trip.
Heroes - I'm gonna shut up now.

@@OTRAL24 I wanted to be a treasure hunter. But I also wanted to feed my family. I've been a garbage man for 20+ years and realized years ago that I am a treasure hunter. Except I get paid a regular wage and the treasure comes to me. The point of this ramble, Look at what it is about fishing that draws you to it and see if there is something else that fits that template. Not saying this is THE way, this worked for me. Good luck to you.

Thanks Louie! We’ve been wanting to finish up our rails, the ones on the port side we built several years ago. Just haven’t gotten around to doing the rest, hopefully soon!
