Love the chonk marbles in action. They read SOOOO well Also the expanded drum set is epic. It NEEDED the toms. And that they move adds sooo much. You just need to see this prototype demonstrated like this to see clearly that imposing the MM form factor on to MMX was what really killed it. As long as you can fit it in to an artic you are golden

Dear Martin, as a lot of others I was dubious about the bouncing drums, fearing the return of feature creep. I was so wrong, they look AWESOME. I'm not sure if they could be seen from far away in the world tour. Probably, I think a good Idea would be to pick the best of both words: a "chamber version" of the MM full of features and movements, used for studio recordings, and a "world tour version" that can be simpler, transportable, and occupies the whole stage. Your modular design allows for this!
He should remake this video with static drums. Then it's easier to compare. I bet it doesn't make that big of a difference, and probably isn't worth all the extra effort. To me the wobbly drums are more distracting (even a bit annoying) than helpful. 🙂

He said in a previous video that he can account for the timing on the programming disks. Once he gets the instruments reliable and finalized he can build the disks with the timing delays figured into it.

You can't have marbles on the floor if the entire floor IS the catch mechanism. Just a big ole rubber mat held at a slope to funnel marbles back into the system

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s not all live. The drums aren’t programmed, just edited together. I don’t think Martin is trying to trick us or anything, you can tell the drums “reset” to starting position when struck with marbles consecutively
Ok, everyone, to clarify, I'm aware of how he cut it together, how the original "music video" he's covering was made, and the state the project is currently in. I was simply noting the uncanny nature of the visuals of the drums bouncing and marbles dropping. I'm also aware that part of the reason for this effect is that he's using almost the same clip for each drum hit, so it naturally looks like a computer rather than a live performance. I'm also aware of how he did the cloning effect. Again, just noting that it's a very surreal visual. He did a great job and I love it. Despite the roughness of a prototype (and a one hit one at that), I feel like he really achieved the look and feel of the original animusic with the drums. My current was not meant to be a slight or portray confusion, just describe my feelings and awe. I'm a huge fan of the original and of what he's trying to accomplish (and has been for way longer than most people realize). I feel like this is a huge step in the right direction and shows how this specifically archives that goal, on top of being an awesome video and cover.
Please do not ever stress about video quality, any updates are better than no updates. Even just your face saying hi and playing a song would be just fine!
Possible, sensor or MIDI controlled. Like hitting the E-drum pad that sends the signal to the digital audio workstation software. Add an adurino controller to control the light for the "glow"
