    This is a really simple aquascape design with low cost due to the small scale and minimal style of planting. The aquarium measures 345mm x 205mm x 270mm (L x W x H) and is 16 litres. I have mixed shrimp because I am not worried about keeping exact strains of colours, I just like seeing them multiply 😊

      Hey MD, someone is starting to send those "you win a prize" comments to your subs. I just got one. This is the 3rd different channel that I've gotten this on. But your the one that has to report it. 😔 Sorry it's happening to you.

    I like the way the leaf shape of the buce mirrors the texture of the dragon stone, and the way the thin leaves of the dwarf sage contrasts but also replicates the upright positions of the dragon stone. You've got a natural talent for aesthetics and design 💚

    Loved how at the end you said, "If you don't like it, tear it down and start over." Sometimes we need someone to give us permission to do that. I have a shrimp tank that I put too much at the front and all the shrimp hide in the back so I never see them.

      I always use aqua soil in my shrimp only tanks, it creates a good ph for them and looks pretty nice as you won’t need to gravel vacuum with plants. The babies when they are first born are small enough to hide in the substrate too so it provides a natural hide for them as they grow. They get a little better every time!

    I also had lots of different colored shrimps in my tank when I first started. Red, blue, black, orange etc. almost all of them :D when they started breeding the first ones were quite clear almost white or brown but now the colors have started to pop up even more and I got lots of very deep blue and reds and blacks and a mix or oranges and different shades of brown and some even are class clear!! Absolute joy to see them breed and take care of their home. Thanks MD for these super cool and epic inspiration filled videos!!

      Eventually they will breed brown. Thats why you don't mix colours.

    • @emolutioning
      @emolutioning Рік тому +3

      WARNING! Surprisingly, such an experienced Fish tank channel actually suggested breeding shrimps of different colors in 1 tank. They will simply cross breed and have colorless wild type off springs eventually. 1 look a the red with stripes that was purchased from your store, that has already been cross bred b4 and will gradually loose even more of its color. Yes i am a shrimp keeper. Been there done that. Hope this helps peoples Efforts.

    • @cathyhendrix7552
      @cathyhendrix7552 Рік тому +1

      @@emolutioning I also know a breeder of shrimp. And he has, what I call a Skittles tank of shrimp, and has had it way past b4, and the shrimp ARE STILL a rainbow of colors. No browns yet. He's had his Skittles tank for about 3 or 4 yrs. Now explain that one. If you can. The one thing that I've learned about breeding fish or shrimp is that you can't pigeon hole any of them. Because just when you count on one certain specific trait or thing, that's when it doesn't happen. And you learn one more thing about breeding. A person cannot count on anything when it comes to breeding aquatic animals. It is what it is.

      @@emolutioning Sure. Give me their names and I will send them. Oh, but you need to know or should realize that MD, isn't a fish breeder. He specializes in plants. And his thing is planted tank scapes. He tells us all the time that he doesn't know that much about fish, but that he is learning as it goes along. Why don't you try to correct him on plants? That might work better for you.

    The look gives me the appearance of a dragon that's passed on, and it's bones have eroded some and nature is taking over it. The scape offers a glimpse of part of its spine. The Dragon Spine Aquascape has been born!

    Once again an amazing scape. You also had given me an idea for my tank turtles right at the beginning of the video where the stones were simply lodged on the 3color substrate which was perfect for the tones I'm looking for. The idea of the stones thrusts up and sidewards I can picture my tiny turtle friend to climb on like Godzilla on a cliff. They love to stretch their feet as if flying most of the time when they bask. I can't wait to try it.

    Great design.
    I do think, though, that you forget to factor in what it might cost for an average person who has to buy all the materials new. That's a lot of pricey plants, if you don't happen to already have a bunch multiplying in other tanks to draw from. Most of the rest of us won't. Or, at least, won't have a great professional discount with our friends at the local fish shops :).
    "Budget-Friendly" is such a relative term.

Absolutely love it, but I'm getting the clear/opaque film on the glass every day now, whereas this was never a problem. I've adjusted flow, added/reduced filtering, etc. Any tips on how to clear this "funk/algae" out? All clear film, no green/brown or noticeable "algae" itself. Thanks!!

    You should try some limnophila sessiliflora, the baby shrimp seem to love those!

    How do you prepare your sand and gravel before putting it in to the aquarium because I fins it really hard to wash the sand before putting it in and if I don't I gets cloudy 🤔

    Love your work cobber.
    I am about to embark on a 4ft dragon stone scape for a barb environment, using about 20+Kg of stone. My biggest quandary at the moment is getting that bloody stone clean. I have read up on cleaning it, most just say soak it, hit it with a hose and poke out clay from holes, then soak in a mild bleach solution, then soak again in chlorine free water. While only cleaning a few stones might seem fairly simple, cleaning about 20kg of it is not fun. I am also a little sceptical about soaking anything in bleach to put in an aquarium, is this actually ok to do?
    I am still in 3 or 4 frames of mind on how to lay the substrate. I have nutri-base, sand, aqua soil, volcanic rock, not really certain which order I should be putting this in. I assume, nutri-base, volcanic rock, sand, soil then gravel, but could be completely wrong, any help here would be greatly appreciated.
    Also trying to figure out how to incorporate dark driftwood into the scape, this will be a matter of playing around I expect.
