I'd love him to release a full 'Mahogany Sessions' album. This and Little Blue are both just pure audio bliss.
THIS!!!
And we've got two more - the one with MARO and the solo rendition of Make Me Cry!
ua-cam.com/video/BzjIoRFB8r0/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/SXc0m9uv0p4/v-deo.html
there are one or two more to be released (they wrote this in the comments of little blue)
Such an honour to create these together Jacob ❤An unforgettable day, the location provided so much reverb and you, Madi and Chris filled every corner of it ⭐
Are you able to let us know how many songs Jacob has recorded for Mahogany Sessions from the Djesse Universe … thanks
@@stmserio 'The good news: we have two more with Jacob coming this year that we filmed on the same day 😊'
The comment above was posted on their 'best of 2023' video a couple of months ago!
Is this recorded live?
It's really great to hear an English artist singing in English. Not American
How in the world did you record that song technically? It was marvellous!
But did you really use only the microfones of the camera? No mixing afterwards?
I am so stunned.
Major shout out to the sound engineers
Yesssssssssss
Would love to get an impulse file from this room.
I wish I could agree...sounds garbled and unclear to me...especially the guit and vocals.
You think this is live?
@@BasedViking981that’s my question… how could it possibly be?
This song ABSOLUTELY needed a Mahogany session, it’s STUNNING
we need an entire mahogany run of the entire album. Tori singing her vocals in one take now in that room!
yes this one specifically needed one!!!
This song is the epitome of crooning.
I’d pick it for a slow dance 🫠
something about jacob’s creativity is infectious
Yes that is one of the beautiful things about him. He brings out the creativity in others, near and far.
"everybody near and far, come together as you are"
It is the light of his soul which shines SO bright. He is waking humans up to our true nature. We are all Jacob, if you know what I mean. In other words, it is the purest form of love and peace.
Yeah unfortunately it's infectious. But I am immune. Must be my musical talent and genius making me immune.
@@AtomicMosquitoAgree. There is no guile in Jacob. A purity.
I will never get enough of Madison's voice, simply perfect.
Agreed ❤
The key change is insane
It was jarring for me.
@@joemorgenstern9846Could we give him credit for the four other key changes that were apparently so smooth as to be unnoticeable? 😅
@cjbprime 4 other?!? I can only hear 3 in the song lol
@@cjbprime Absolutely. He is a once in a life time musician. There was one key change about half way that was jarring for me and it was the only key change I noticed.
Unless your counting going back to the original key 🎼
Can we get a whole live album of the three of them playing each other’s songs together??!?!?!
I second this!!!
YES
Yesss
🫶
Best idea ever!
This is the golden age of musical collaboration.
No
The final boss of camp counselor music.. lol with respect and lov3
This is a golden age of music period :P
@@AlexTheFruitcake yeah, not at all 😂
Most definitely not. The Yardbirds were the first ever "supergroup", and that lineup was infinitely better. You also got Temple Of The Dog, which had Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell. Velvet Revolver with Slash and Scott Weiland, there's Cream, Asia, and countless other line ups that are better than this
Beautiful song. Anything with Chris Thile is worth paying attention to!
Lol, got goosebumps for reading this as the song had started but he hadn't entered in view yet!
I love that he is finger picking the Mando at the beginning, I don't think I have seen him do that much
I would have loved an upright bass bottom to some of the chord structure! But as is, it's like....Summer Rain.
@@lukegoffkat Better give Edgar Meyer a call haha
chris thile added so much to this song without even singing a verse.
what an absolutely heavenly trio!!
Chris Thile and Jacob Collier really are the Captain America and Iron Man of my musical universe. Simply two of the greatest musicians I’ve ever heard. Madison Cunningham rounding out the trio is just 😘👌
Madison Cunningham is so legit. Saw her live in Austin and everything from her vocals, her guitar playing, and really the whole band was exquisite.
She was fantastic touring with Andrew Bird
Two heartbeats on the floor
Candle-lighting
Angels at my door
No silver lining
I don't masquerade inside the flame
But I miss you like summer rain
Shadows on the wall
Border-lining
I thought they'd never fall
Worlds colliding
I don't catch a wave, my summer rain
I can't breathe without you
I won't walk away, I feel the pain
But I can't bleed without you
I get by without you
I get high, but I miss you like summer rain
Kiss me to my core, paralyzing
Hold me where I'm sore, never minding
I don't know your name or feel your shame
But I miss you like summer rain
Don't love you anymore
I'm providing
You held me down before
Never asking
Why I'm so afraid to walk your way
I'm so free without you
I won't catch the rain
Won't feel the same
I'm alive without you
I get by without you
I'm so high, but I miss you like summer rain
And every night
I feel so tired
But I can't sleep
Without you near
I close my eyes
I wish you were here
But I get by
I get by
So high
But I miss you like summer rain
That girl’s voice is out of this world.
if the world made any sense at all, this would have 100 million views.
People have no idea how much musical firepower these 3 have.
THUMBS UP if you want Djesse Vol#4 done in its entirety as a Mahogany Session!!!
The environment impeccable. The sound is impeccable. The musician’s impeccable. The writing impeccable. The hearts of the people impeccable.
In conclusion: HEAVEN
This song is one of the prettiest things i've heard in my life
While there is music like this in the world there is hope for humans after all ❤
I just lost my best friend, but Jacob you are a light in darkness. Thank you for this. This song speaks to my core.
The musicianship in this video is out of this world. How they listen each other and complement their harmonies with such taste is just amazing. I'm in love.
Jacob lifts up and expands the creative potential of everyone around him. What a gift to humanity.
I'd like to take a moment to say I'm so happy to hear someone I've been listening to for 10+ years or more (Chris Thile), create music with someone I've only had the pleasure of listening to for 5 years, play together. This was an unexpected treat.
Jacob and Chris did a few gigs together a year ago or so at the Blue Note in NYC which emphasized a lot of improv - there are some clips on YT, and the three of them also did a few gigs recently. I do love how talent like this seems to gravitate to each other - like the concert recently with Thile, Billy Strings, and Cory Henry. Just ridiculous amount of virtuosity on one stage.
I love when that happens
@kecaleb, for another delight, search for the earliest recordings of Chris as a youngster. So much presence and confidence.
Casually elevating an already perfect song to an even more incredible performance
The chord progressions pick you up abruptly, but always land you gently. Love it.
I swear, Jacob Collier has literally stepped out of the chorous of angels to give us a glimpse of another realms. So blessed to be alive to hear him sing and play and create and bring together other mis-placed angels to grace our ears and uplift our souls.
Thank you for the moments Jacob Collier.
Absolute genius. I will never get enough of the whole new Djesse Vol 4 album. Thank you, Jacob.
The fact you got Chris Thile to make music with you is an absolute dream.
Thile is amazing. Y'all should check his performances of the JS Bach Violin Partitas.
@Marklar3 DUDE! Have done so! He is one of my absolute favourite artists.
Well he clearly enjoys collaboration because he's done a lot of it. He's definitely one of my favorite artists.
Madison Cunningham's performance at the September show made me cry quite a few times. overall the concert was about clarity, a clear cosmos of music, execution, and voicing, next-level music. unexpectedly for me, this trio provided one of the best concerts in my life. i became a fan of two more musicians after visiting this gig. superb.
The only modern songwriter who can take you on a journey with both the words and the harmony. The return to the home key is miraculous. Thank you for this, Jacob.
Not to mention the journey of his outfits lmao
Lol. Hardly. There are many extremely talented artists making music.
Perhaps this is the only modern songwriter you listen to?
I am wondering if Jacob would collaborate with Fujii Kaze - his songs are lyrically uplifting and musically interesting and his creativity is amazing. Since Kaze is fluent in English, they could easily perform in English. Both of them also dress with a certain colourful flair ;)
I was about to write the exact same thing. I can't stop but leaving everything I do aside when I hear a Jacob Collier song. First time listening to this one here and I just had to keep my eyes on this video and completely lost myself in the music.
Madison and Jacob are a match made in heaven. Oh my god 😭
3:42 - took me somewhere... Feel like he's entering an era of his music that is going to transcend what humans have been able to do musically. Madison and Chris were perfect additions. Beautiful
It’s devastatingly beautiful, a gift.
Good Lord, this is a gift. Thank you all three so much!
I don't know a better word, as my eyes are filled with tears yet again.... than "Mastered." This man has mastered his art. Watching him over the years was much like watching Neo in the Matrix. Seeing what others knew, where potential was hiding... and then, suddenly, this sense of immortality, but through his expression of song. There are very few people in this world I'll bow to, but this man will see me on my knees if we cross paths. What an absolute treasure.
Oh, man... this give me 2 years more of life.
Wow.....this is even better than the album version. So pure and atmospheric. Wonderful, Jacob, Madison and Chris! You should do a whole album like this.
This is the first time hearing it on 2 vodka cans I don't think I'll go to the album version soon
Jacob, you are healing the world, one beautiful melody at a time
🇮🇹 Lo scrivo in Italiano: Dio benedica le vostre voci, i vostri strumenti musicali e la vostra musica. Grazie di esistere.
I need a whole Mahogany Sessions album by Jacob.
Jacob is a force of positivity, passion, and creativity... built on a lifetime of studying and experimenting in sonic feeling.
...and such a short lifetime Indeed!
3 of my favorites. Incredible
same
three of my most favorite artists in the same chapel, making music together. jesus christ
The harmonies are cleansing my brain, or perhaps rinsing it, like ... something. The perfect water metaphor exists somewhere but I can't bring it to mind
Dissolving the sorrows away
Does it feel like summer rain maybe?
@@jmarrazola117 Definitely not for me, total tearjerker.
@@ValWillKayby jove you've got it
I completely forgot about chris thile, I used to love live from here and even went in person once, glad to see that he's still making amazing music
Just saw him recently solo (with orchestra) at Cornell U, plus twice recently with Nickel Creek. He's been as busy as ever, and I can't recommend the recent NC album highly enough.
It was kinda wild, I started listening to him recently and I adore his cover of "Heart in a Cage".
... two angelic voices, three great musicians, wonderful architecture which helps to create heavenly acoustics. Stunning.
Chris Thile with the mandolin is great! Wonderful performance, this song quickly became my favorite on the record
I don't have any words to say how much I love Jacob's voice.
Very calming
1:24 Oh the harmony is love
Ever since I heard Chris Thile in Nickel Creek, Ive been hooked. This is one of the best songs from the album.
Love the non-verbal communication between jacob, madison and chris. they're connected on a deeper level. they don't even to look at each other.
This feels like they stayed up all night enjoying each other’s company, woke up with the sunrise, rolled out of bed and did one last take. Very comfortable in affect and tone.
This version is so pure, it sounds so natural and soothing, it's like a balm to the soul.
I can't find the words to express how precious and needed this is...
I am just grateful that the three of you decided to record and share this beautiful version with us!
Jacob, you are a true bohemian rhapsody.
Your comment is as stunning as Jacob. How fitting.
The beautiful sparsity of this song is like soft drizzle on a twilight evening in summer.
If only Madison had played too. Such a brilliant player. Beautiful song.
I’m always in for Jacob’s soft mellow side.
Saw @MadisonCunningham supporting @johnmayer on tour this past week. Everyone needs to hear her sing live. This doesn't do her full justice.
That guitar is really going to revolutionize music in the upcoming years
This man is a genius, wait, what's the word that transcends genius?
Evil. He's absolutely evil with the runs, the harmonies and the production.
Insane level of talent. Holy 💩
Three of the greatest musicians alive today.
Dream come true for my ears, definitely one of my favourites on the album. WOW.
2:55 😍 The harmony, the balance between bass and the nice high-end with the mandolin, beautiful reverb, panning, the location... simply a perfect stripped back version of Summer Rain.
This video led me to Madison Cunningham for the first time, what a talent she is!
Jacob, if you are reading this, thank you for being such a gift to world. Ignore the haters, there are more than enough people out there who love your music and are forever changed when we hear it
Magical. Period.
This is the music they play on the doorstep of Heaven.
This song really touches me!
This song makes me feel like I'm INSIDE the music! I love, love, love it. This video is beautifully simple - perfect match for the mood!
Modulation at 3:29 is brilliant.
I love that song, makes me feel very peaceful
Voltando todo dia aqui para escutar mais uma, e mais uma e mais uma vez...
Beautiful, truly. Jacob's clothing always reminds me of that old story I heard as a kid from the Old Testament, the coat of many colours. In the story Jacob gives his son Joseph a colourful coat to signify his love for him. I feel like if I Jacob ever has kids, he'd pass down his colourful clothes and it'll be just like that. That'd be cool.
I saved the Little Blue spotify release immediately and I will do the same with this
Beautiful performance, gorgeous acoustics
When I heard Jesse Volume Four this was immediately my first favorite song. The more often I heard the album, the more favorites followed. Thank you for your WAY with the art of music, Jacob. You inspire us.
omg I luv these 2. maybe Jacob's best song?
This is a combo my ears needed to hear, but my heart needed it more.
I know this is not mainstream music... But at 71 years old I'll stop saying that today's music sucks. There is hope...
Most modern music sucks I’d agree lol…
This though, is art
crazy good !! damn.
So many goosebump moments here. Tonic.
Discovered Madison last year, so great to see such talented artists making beautiful sounds together. 🎉
I Just discovered her now I guess
Her album Revealer is truly amazing.
I love Jacob's voice Beautiful song!
Daaamn duuude, this is some next level stuff, so complex yet so familiar and natural! i m lost for words
Wow actual real good honest creative beautiful music. Thank you.
Wow! The reverb is really quite perfect for this
I'm a Big fan from Nigeria ... I love your music ❤❤❤❤
A truly amazingly beautiful, sad, & depthful song! 🙏
I Just spent a solo day in nature with Wachuma in honor of the passing of our 18-year friend and beloved property owner Sean Canon. It has been one of the most sad and beautiful days of my life - almost like living inside a Monet painting as it unfolded... This song by Jacob, Madison, and Chris showed in Sean's honor - (I miss you like) 'Summer Rain'. Do listen to this in a quiet space with a soft and open heart. Many blessings dear Sean! 🙏💚✨
astonishing. Absolutely astonishing.
also Tom Morley did the most incredible job here.
Warms the soul every time
OOOOOH... Chill bumps at 2:58 when they all harmonize. Can't wait for the next Mahogany session from Jacob. So amazing.
Exactly the same for me. Love the album version too, but the emotional connection is so strong on this. Thankyou musicians for sharing your gifts with us!
There is one more coming from this day on our channel really soon ☺
Oh joy! Can't wait. 🤩 @@MahoganySessions
Poets of our time, beautiful views they have!
WOW.... Incredible stuff
Love the acoustics... Love the space
Thanks for sharing
Jacob is an Angel
Fantastic music. Great acoustics and wonderful lyrics. It sounds very immersive in this church
A great pop song with harmonic surprises when you least expect them. Loving this
C'MON... You are sooo good it's just incredible! Some kind of wonderful listening to you
