Thank you! You really have to do some thinking with a bag that small that's for sure but it is super handy to toss into any vehicle you're traveling in and doesn't take up much space.

Look for standing dead wood . Don’t let your mini freeze it will destroy it . Great little pk

Thanks! Yeah keeping the mini Sawyer from freezing could be a challenge but I think if I keep it close to my body it would be ok. Standing deadwood would be an excellent source of wood up in the hills, but almost nonexistent between work and home. I've ordered and Esbit stove with solid fuel tabs to fix that little problem. Thank you for the solid suggestions!

@@colockumcraft254 Esbit are great little stoves for cold weather and heating up a drink or soup .

Great informative video! I believe the sawyer squeeze and maybe the Sawyer minis will screw directly onto a smart water bottle but not just any generic water bottle. Also watch out because if they have any moisture in them and they freeze it will destroy the filter rendering them somewhat useless.

Smart water bottles do work, so do life water bottles. I Blow out as much out of the filter, put it in a plastic bag, and put in a pocket to keep warm. Also a HAM! KD9OTT

I've got a video in the works for that. There are a lot of bottles that will work, just not that cheap one I was drinking out of that day. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you for the great suggestion! It would not take long to freeze and ruin that small of a filter. 73 W7SJB

The Sawyer fits on the "life water" bottles. Just keep an empty one in your vehicle if it doesn't fit in the pack.

Instead of carrying a 55 gallon drum liner, since you have a small pack, you might want to consider getting a 3x3 meter (10 ft x 10 ft) tarp, a DD tarp style I think is best. With a tarp like this and coupled with a little of some learned skills on various tarps set ups, you can configure a large number of shelter configurations, and in terms of its overall size for a tarp this size, it is not much bigger than your tarp drum liner. Maybe a super small lightweight sleeping pad to get you of the cold ground, in case you have to sleep out in the cold somewhere, obviously a winter R rated sleeping pad set can get very costly fast, but in my opinion something is better than nothing. In my winter pack, I made my own ultra small packable stove for my tarp, which works like a hot tent. You also might want to check out this tarp hot tent set up, ua-cam.com/video/2VJWs24JWyg/v-deo.html I hope you like my ideas.
