Just finished registering my Maverick Air 2 after having taken your two free courses. Thank you for making all of your videos it's a lot to take in but in time I should get better I'm 62 and it's my first Drone. Actually I've owned it since 2020 and never opened it until now, I know it's sounds hard to believe, but its because I do a lot of different activities and couldn't find the time to set it all up and after seeing your videos I took time to finally open it. Thank you again I sure have a lot to learn from you and also thank you for the free registration sticker I just placed. Keep up doing what you love, I see this is something you enjoy doing, hopefully I'll get that way as well with time as I learn more and more. Thank you..🇺🇸👍🏻
Quick update from recent experience registering -- Unless someone has called it out here already, I answered Yes to Remote ID for my DJI Air 2S since it has the capability and found that in that case the form is looking for the Remote ID Serial Number (instead of the remote controller serial number) further down in the DJI Fly About info. Thanks for all of the video's here and at the web site. They are tremendously helpful in learning how to fly right and not make mistakes.

There are scams on drone registration and part 107 test preps. If you are planning to apply for part 107 then go for PilotInstitute training. Greg is very good in explaining all the topics.

I figured we’d meet up at the quaint old French Cafe, with Snoopy. Perhaps even be graced with a visit at the cafe by the Red Baron, (he often stops in for a cold root beer.) and listen to those great flying ace stories, listen to the familiar favorite tunes on the cafe’s, melodious old piano as we swill a few too many cold root beers.
Excellent video as usual. I do have one question however. I am currently taking your Part 107 course but now flying my drone registered as a recreational flyer. When I get my Part 107 certificate do I have to register my drone under Part 107 and get a new ID number or can I use the current ID number and just have it transferred to the Part 107 database?
I believe he said in the video you keep your registration number but also if I remember correctly from other things I have read when you go commercial (Part 107) each aircraft has to have its own unique number so if you have more than one then the rest would be registered by serial number to get their own registration number.

It's nice how the FAA changes requirements even though no laws are currently in place outlining the changes as requirements. When have we seen this happen before? They are clearly just trying to skirt the regulations that govern their actions.
The only change was the question about Remote ID, which is something new with the regulation that was instituted in January of this year. No skirting of the regs here.

They themselves admitted they made the change to prepare for remote ID which is only part of the truth. Its clearly an indication of skirting regs just as those requirements they set forth as suggestions under the CBO guidelines. They are simply trying to avoid another NPRM and looking to enable a way for themselves to set policy outside of regulation. Let's not forget, there is no risk assessment, yet they are doing all of this for safety... it's simply about paving the way for what they are told will be a profitable venture. Furthermore, they are using this process to define some lines that were previously grey and establishing a position for themselves to overreach in other areas outside those of the R/C hobby.
"Flight controller" serial number, not "aircraft" serial number? That is not straightforward at all. You wouldn't know unless you know. I just used the aircraft serial number, as it's the one printed on the box. I guess that's the wrong one though. 🤔
Super informative, but in some States like Georgia (USA) require you to register your drone even when your drone weights less then 250 gr and is for Recreational purposes

As an employee of a high school, we are initiating a drone program and we need guidance on how to register our drones. Is it possible to register them under the school's name or do we need to register them under an individual's name?
If my drone weighs less than 250g, but I add prop guards on and a light, now is it required to be registered? In addition if it doesn’t have remote Id, what that law goes into effect, if my add ons make it weigh more, will it be in violation for that? For recreational flying.

But the application does ask you for your part 107 information. If someone doesn’t have this information yet because they haven’t taken the test yet,, how do you proceed?

After I press the submit button I get a message that says "Sorry Only one entry is allowed. Multiple submissions are disabled for this form" I got this message the very first time I tried. I have tried 3 times with different emails in case there was something wrong with my email. This is my first drone and I have never submitted a request for the free labels that you offer before. I just registered my first drone on the FAA website yesterday and after that I requested the free labels on your website. I received this "Sorry" message the first time and each time after that. After all of this I see that you are only offering them for like 10K requests. Have you reached this number? If so maybe you can remove the option to request them so people will know you are not doing them anymore.

Greg, I am confused. I have one number aircraft serial number for my mini2 from the DJI care refresh ( with the same number in the battery compartment ) and then there is a different number listed in the app for flight controller serial number. Which one should i use for the 107 registration?

YEs you will re-register it under part 107. If you want to save $5, just register now under part 107, you can still fly under recreational rules with the 107 registration.
I do not believe it works that way. Each drone can only have one active registration. You are not able to flip back and forth between "just for fun" and commercial. My advice to the poster is to register it for commercial 107 use, but do not apply the registration number to the aircraft until you are certified to fly under 107. Or just wait until you pass the test and then register it.

A couple of quick questions- I registered my 2 units under recreation flyer, same number- now completing my Part 107 course, so I registered one under part 107 today, although I have not yet taken test, received drone specific number for that one, "inventory" on FAA dashboard has been updated. When I soon re-register the other drone under 107 will the current number change? Also, applied for the free registration stickers on web site (same number for both units) a couple of weeks ago, haven’t received email confirmation or stickers yet, but when I tried to order the set for the new 107 number today was unable to, “Only one entry is allowed. How do you register a drone you made yourself I can’t find any info on it, like yes there is an option for home made but what do you put for manufacture and model name then? Do you get to name it yourself, do you put your own name ect.

you don't need to register the mini 2, it weights less than 0.55 pounds

You can register under Part 107 for now, it will cover you for rec flying too.

You can take your time on it. You have lifetime access. I took it slow myself.

On my Potensic App, under About, only the version number is shown. There is no serial # information. What do I do?

now that the DJI Avata has Remote ID how do you find the registration number for it? Is it the same as the normal serial number?

Also, applied for the free registration stickers on web site (same number for both units) a couple of weeks ago, haven’t received email confirmation or stickers yet, but when I tried to order the set for the new 107 number today was unable to, “Only one entry is allowed. Multiple submissions are disabled for this form.” Am I not able to get a 2nd number/set of stickers?

How do you register a drone you made yourself I can’t find any info on it, like yes there is an option for home made but what do you put for manufacture and model name then? Do you get to name it yourself, do you put your own name ect.
Same way as you register others. There's a homebuilt option in the list when you register. No Manufacturer needed.
I am still uncertain at 11:41. So what If I registered a drone under recreational, then a year later I wanted to become a part 107 pilot, do I need to re-register that same drone, but now under part 107?

You can make a company account and register it there.
I have question. If my drone was registered 2 years ago and I want to sell it do I have to do something? unregister or something? because i don't know is anyone will fly this drone under my name without registration and do some damage and then I will be responsible for this instead of that for example criminal who purchased my drone? Im not commercial drone owner only recreational.

What if more than 1 person will be flying the drone? Do they both/all need to register it and if so, do all their registrations need to be on the drone? I'm looking at getting into drones and my son and daughter will definitely want to play with them too. And they're 15 and 16.
