To the youngsters. You are looking at the two people who saved the NBA. Together, they are the GOAT.
He wasn’t an asshole, they knew him and that he was just messing with them. What a friendship they have! I think it would have been a blast to be around all these guys♥️
As a Lakers fan I HAFED Larry Bird,but over the years I learned to appreciate his game. When the HIV virus took Maguc from the game I'll never forget that he mentioned how Larry checked on him and showed that he care about his friend beyond basketball. Much respect his way since then👍

Magic truly believed Larry was the goat when they played, The things he did on the basketball court were unbelievable, Larry didn’t want to be friends purely to keep a competitive edge, but as soon as he thought he was going to loose him like he lost his dad it changed his mind set because the ones who inspire you to be a better version of yourself are the ones who you love the most.
Anybody who loves the NBA owes Larry and Magic. They personally saved it from extinction. I remember the games were only shown late at night....like Roller Derby. LOL
Two astonishing people and both great role models and they did indeed " make " the NBA. With Magic and Bird it is like the comedian and the straight man. Magic was the best friend Larry ever had.

Larry knows he is one of the greatest but he is still humble. He is the true G.O.A.T. never said he was the best.
Larry, king of sarcasm and DRY WIT! The smiles and laughter are proof of their genuine respect, admiration, and love. We need Americans to have more of the Larry/ Magic formula happening! God bless you young man! Keeping it real and fun!!
Yes, Letterman gave a great interview. It’s obvious he prepared for it in advance, but he also added impromptu comments and one-liners. He seemed genuinely thrilled to have two of his idols on the show. All three men were funny, in different ways.
i dont think their would be a magic without bird, and i dont think their would be a bird without magic, they made each other the best. And thats how you know they were made to play each other, bird went and retired after he heard magic couldnt play anymore, thats a real brotherhood right there.
Bird and Magic should be getting a percentage of the following superstars salaries for saving the NBA.
In the documentary Magic choked up when he was telling the story in the documentary. It meant the world to Magic when Larry called him and you could tell it.

I just found this video. Growing up in that time period, watching Lakers vs Celtics. Was must see TV. It was such a great time for the NBA. I was a Celtics fan, but respected & enjoyed watching the Lakers. The sport owes a debt to Larry & Magic..
These two were class all the way. I love that these two great are great friends. I remember hearing about Magics HIV, everyone was stunned and confused. But Magic has always been much loved and it didn’t seem to change anyones view of him. Of course, I was still young, under 20, so may not have seen the backlash if there was any. He’s going strong, that’s all I care about. 😇 angels are watching him.
My fave player of all time is Larry & between Larry & Magic I give the nod to Larry. Magic even said it, Larry can do more….
