    Very cool. I figured people would do something like what you did to deal with the folding rear seat issue. Great to see a solution in the flesh.

    Looks like an awesome setup. Would be great to see the setup and teardown of the tent and awning for those of us not familiar with these systems.
    Thanks.

    I like it a lot, and setup/breakdown, timing, is a crucial element, when overlanding,weather conditions and, all, my own setup on the 110defender,is far to time consuming, and so,when my Grenadier arrives, I will, have a similar system to yours I hope. Thanks for sharing, from Steve near Chester England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 where the Roman's once lived.

      thx. still trying to minimise the weight but I can live with a few extra kilos.
      as you say: timing, efficiency and practicality is very important for me...it takes me max 2mins to setup both

    Great setup. Can you please tell me what is the total internal length (with rear door closed) at 4mins when you install the drawer system + plates while the Rear Sears are folded forward?

      with the rear bench folded up the lenth is 158cm/62inches.
      with the rear bench removed (which i show in one of my videos and is super easy) the length is 192cm/76inches

    Grenadier dymnamic roof load is 150kg. The HGM rack is 47kg, AX27 tent is 99kg and XT270 is 33.5kg total 179.5kg
    That's without loading anything on your roof rack utility belt. Do you have any concerns?

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +1

      i have now acc. to my data sheet:
      47kg for the rack
      90kg for the tent
      27,5kg for the awning
      164.5kg total. still trying to lose a few more kgs.
      definitely on the heavy side - am aware of that and will keep and eye on the structure.

    Nice setup Ingemar, similar to my 110 but I am on the road with James Baroud, been thinking about the Grenadier but will stick with my Defender for a while, looks good and seems like good quality the Bush Co equipment, greets from Switzerland

      the bush co stuff seems to be really good quality and well thought through.

    • @MrGamester59
      @MrGamester59 Рік тому

      BTW James Baroud is half the weight of the Bush company. Unfortunately looks like you will have to carry one extra ladder for access to the roof tent. Otherwise is a very nice functional setup. Well done. 👍🏻

    The roof rack looks very good, but I am skeptical whether the gutter can withstand the weight. With our Grenadier it can already be bent by hand. I would like to know how it looks when two people have slept in the roof bed several times. Rhino rack, the supplier of the original roof rack is in the process of repairing its actual mounting.

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому

      hello. thank you. I thought about the issue as well and keep an eye on it. we just did a few updates on the roof rack and the gutters look good. I talked to an inoes engineer and he said they "had to be more flexible to avoid cracks". we used stiff rubber between the brackets and the gutter (as per his recommendation). I keep monitoring and will report on that...

    Love this. Does the tent with its size allow you to still use the safari windows and if you had a roof rack which was the 3/4 could you fit the tent and awning?

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  9 місяців тому

      yes to both questions!!
      I moved the tent slighlty backwards (~25cm over the edge) so there is enough space to operate and remove the safari windows. and it looks absolutely fibe because the spare wheel and ladder in thr back stand out further.
      the awning is attached to the tent, so it will also fit on a 3/4 roof rack without any issue!!
      hope that helps

    Hi Ingemar,
    i am still not decided between a roof top tent and a setup to sleep in the car.
    My doubts with the tent are: bad weather conditions, width for 2 persons, access with open awning and especially the mounting problems. I think you need at least 8 strong hands !?
    You still have no camping table ? What about your fridge/cooking and water solutions ?
    Thx for your good work and have a great time !
    Rick

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +1

      the tents sleeping area is 130cm wide - hope that is sufficient for my girlfriend and me 😅. but i can understand your worries - have the same.
      you can access the tent via the remaining, free side (right hand side in my case) with the included telescopic ladder.
      we used fork lift to install the tent....it is heavy.
      I am still waiting for my table - Ineos started to deliver them recently!!
      I ordered a kitchen solution from Egoe - still waiting. it includes fridge, sink, cooking, stowage.

    Again, love the quick overview, what’s your plan for water storage, i.e grey water for showers or fresh water for drinking? Here in Australia water tanks take up a lot of space and have huge impact on the overall vehicle GVM. If your not planning on towing anything then you should be good. A few Gallon containers should work for you with a pump. 😀👍

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +2

      getting a kitchen module wich includes two fresh water tanks of 3,2Gal each. I will have additional water/fuel storage on the side panels (still to come). the next few travels are all in areas with plenty of water - once i come to Australia, I need another solution 😉

    How wide are your drawers, are they alloy framed or timber... They look great...
    We may install a batwing, size tba... we want an easy on-off fixture... i.e. to avoid the extra rack; our crazy supermarkets are all 2.1 or 2.2 headspace. A curse and killer for the inner city!
    We use a tent ex our old VW, again for space/height, and the weight is negligible. A couple of bungees and rare earth magnets. Dead simple, even in the dark, a Batwing 180 might be enough for us. Anyway, summer comes, and the kit will get sifted. Old for new, gas bottles and hefty cooker gone, single gas and Bluetti180Ow power! Plunger coffee is an art form around a fire, but Nespresso is a quick shot!! We found a 15-litre fridge was best for us, less hassle... and we get plenty of meat and butter in that... tetra pack milk was a great invention!

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому

      the drawers are 80x40cm! they are made of timber. the frame of the whole system is made of aluminium. they used extra slim profiles to give me more usable space in the drawer. on the side a higher profile and in the middle an additional one for greater stability. the top is timber as well...coated in a protective paint!
      I am still wondering which coffee machine I will go for....like the Bialetti but Nespresso is more practical....

    • @jmpersonal2402
      @jmpersonal2402 Рік тому +1

      @@grenadier_exploring Coffee machines - here in Australia, we have many creating the pods, Nespresso is a good system, and my colleagues are coffeeholics - good for me to be hospitable on the fly.
      For my box/drawers, like you, I shall match the colour and maybe use dark carpet tiles, add two folding sections to protect the seat backs... I have weighty equipment in a metal trunk that scratches everything... Many drawer options here, most taller than 20 cm, so bespoke it is... Now to get the local carpenter's onside or maybe a new saw blade.

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +1

      19cm drawers would work as well. i needed to add a little spacer since there is one joint on the rear seats that is slightly higher than 18cm.

      correct - that is the reason. looks quite ok and doesn't bother me, since the spare wheel es further back.

    Is it the utility or the regular version of the grenadier? Wondering of the backseats go down the same since I planning on having a similar setup in the back. 18cm is already a quite helpful number especially doing it modular to be able to have one seat still up for the dog :)

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому

      it's the normal (station wagon). I thought about the dog as well when I requested the panels to be split 60/40 :-).

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +1

    What's the length inside the back with the plates down?

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +1

      the plates itself are 150cm/59inches long (limited by the folded seats - especially the up-folded rear bench). For my longer trips I will remove the rear seating cushions which will give me another 30-40cm/12-16inches.

  • @timbacct

    Can I ask why all the kit you have added is so eye-wateringly expensive. It doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the Grenadier. It would be useful if you mentioned the price of things in your review. It would save a lot of wasted time...

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому

      it’s not cheap stuff but i guess they are market price. i opted for those things after a lot of research. for me, they are the most efficient and practical
      solutions. those well thought through solution aren’t for free unfortunately…
      BUT: they should last for a long time and hopefully i don’t have to change my concept…so at the end, the total cost will be ok!
