@@deadsshotgun6665 is the volume control linear or logarithmic? I mean, my current amp has 4 times more sound if I just set the volume up from 10% to 20%. How is the situation with blackstar amp?
@@idonthaveaname20yearsago66 It did, but unfortunately it stopped powering on after about 5 months or so. This is a fairly common problem with the ID Core 10s from what I've seen. Actually plan on driving out to the music store today and find something more reliable.
Hi, Abel. Really liked the video and how you approach to things. Really good introduction on Blackstar ID Core 10 and how you can use it to make it sound aggressive and metal.
I’m sending the emulated output to my old peavy classic 30 into the effects return. The Peavy has a Celestion vintage 30 and it sounds better than both amps by themselves. I control everything at the blackstar Essentially the blackstar becomes my preamp and effects and I think it sounds pretty good. I will try some pedals also. I’m sure you could send the blackstar to a cab but with my routing I’m going thru the power amp of the peavy and then to the celestion, bypassing the peavy preamp and controls.I’m not sure how good the volume would be to an unpowered cab. I don’t have a decent computer to go that way. I do have an iPad. Probably will get a guitar interface for that and try AmpliTube and tonebridge. I didn’t like the blackstar too much by itself but running it out to the post of my peavy has changed my mind. I love it now !
i have trouble getting a good metal tone on my blackstar stereo 10 v3, without sounding muddy. i play a mix of black metal, deathcore, grindcore etc and i want a good thick tone for chugs but im not sure what settings to use. black metal i can do with this amp easy tho
I dont have a DAW set up and really not interested in it . But if a OD pedal will give me close to that Tone I would be a happy Metal Head !! Guess I will get me one of thos cheap but good JHS OD pedals !!
I just purchased Blue covered one of these 2 days ago . I'm a bit over 50 so 80's Metal & Glam style player . Your playing a Solar so your probably into different Metal Tones then I would be ? Can I dial in a decent Pantera or Judas Priest Painkiller like Tone/sound without plugins which I have zero experience with ? Have a Yamaha THR 10 X but cannot get a nasty Distortion from it maybe my Inexperience is showing ? So in your Opinion can this Mean little thing get me where I wanna go ?
I own the 40 water. Can you get Dimebag tone? Let me 1st say I owe a stupid amount of equipment and have been they just about everything at least once. Dime plays solid state amp because they have a tighter sound. So to answer your question, these amps are unreal for metal. Tight, tight, tight tone! Stock and straight thru, it sounds killer for metal. Then if you boast the front of the amp with a pedal, forget it. Monster tone! He didn’t mention the built in noise gate either. If you want to chug and want to buy another amp, expect to pay at least $400 more cuz these amps are inexpensive. I installed an output jack to use external cabs. It’s unreal. Tight tone!
Hi, great demo. Are you still using it like 3 years later? I'm currently thinking about buying one for metal recordings. At the moment i have a small tube amp (Marshall DSL-1HR with the 1x12 cabinet), which i record with a microphone into my daw (for clean to "bluesy" stuff it's ok. High-gain is quite "muddy" in reality and muddy and weak when recorded) and a neural dsp archetype abasi plugin, which sounds awesome clean and for high-gain. Do you think it does make sense to buy this one, 1. for recording metal tones, but also 2. for practicing without a pc? 🙂
@Abel Hernandez i find it hard to find good presets on the insider software, have you uploaded any specifically for the id core 10? i usually get a warning telling me it was made for a different amp and would like to experiment with new sounds. already got a screen shot of the settings here, but this would be awesome.
Hey Bro! I just odered a Blackstar ID:core 10 which I have owned in the paast and it has always been bad ass so had to pick up another one....but now I want to do some cab modeling, looping and I also want to try some diffeent kinds of overdrives to try and achieve more variety when it comes yo metal tones...I'm all about high gain, would a zoom g3n serve this purpose or do you know of any cab pedals? and what about trying different boosts, will a multi effect unit do that job?
Honestly when comes to small multi-effects practice amps, they’re all good and have good effects on them. With that said I’ve always been a really big fan of the Vox VT VX20, even comes with a built in overdrive effect and gets killer metal tone.
It's been 8 months, and you've probably made up your mind by now. I had the first generation Fender Mustang, and it sounded like a flubby piece of shit modeling amplifier.
Hey, Nice video. I own the 20w V2 amp and have a question. How did you control the noise on the Super Crunch, OD1, OD2 channels of the amp? I find that mine has a lot of noise on these channels and the inbuilt noise gate doesn't seem to eliminate it even if it is set to high (OD1/OD2). I connect the guitar directly to the amp and connect the amp to my laptop using a mini usb cable that it requires to be able to tinker with Insider. Any input would be highly appreciated. Cheers!
@@micimaco9509, Actually I have humbuckers in my guitar. I can understand the OD1/OD2 channels being noisy, being high gain ones, but the super crunch channel is definitely more so considering the fact that the inbuilt noise gate works on the OD channels only and so there is no control over the noise. Maybe a factory reset might help. Thanks. 😊
If you are facing buzzing noise, it could be related to the power supply. connect it to the main power board of the room ( in my case when I turn on laptop power supply with the amp, it cause the noise production in the amp) try it once.
@@suchitgangurde3514 hey, its me again. If you have the usb cable required to connect the amp to the pc you can download the architect software for the blackstar amps and enable the noise gate for super crunch manually from there. hope this helps
@@ShubhamSharma-ci3fr I have checked with the power supply as well, but to no luck. My first guess was that it might be due to electrical interference. But even with just the amp connected in my room, I get the same results. Maybe it is a problem with the amplifier itself. Thanks for your input.
I've got an id core 60 at home, it's a pretty solid amp! I am struggling to connect it up to my DAW though and get it to record through my computer, do you have any recording software you would recommend?
Question - Is there any way to use it as interface and use other recording software or Amp sim ? Tried Amp sim but the tone I'm getting is of the amp channels itself.
so how did you route the blackstar into your DAW? I'm interested, ive been just planning to get an audio interface like the scarlet solo and plugging up but this seems more interesting and versatile?
I enjoyed the video, but I'm an old man and I'm not into metal. I just wanted to hear the amp. At least you aren't mic'd up like everyone else who reviews this amp.
I'm quickly becoming a fan of Blackstars smaller amps. They sound amazing for metal, and they sound way bigger than they are, for cheap prices.
Heel yeah I have a 10 and I rarely dime it its pretty damn loud

Best little amp in my opinion. Bought it at guitar center for 110$. Thing got effects built it, it’s easy to use, sounds badass. Love blackstar 🤘🏼
I agree! It’s a great buy!
I’ve been searching for videos on how the ID core amps take overdrives & from this video it sounds pretty good! 🤟🏼
So glad I got this amp. So much amp for its size and price.

Killer riff at 7:52 which song is it?
To get that tone you had to use the software or just the maxon od in front?
Thanks man, it’s just a quick song I wrote for the video. I used the software.

It’s boosted with the Maxon overdrive 🤘🤘

Could this mean that the 100w version is also good for metal?
Yes, obviously
do u have hissing problem with that?
It has a built in noisegate on both overdrive channels. Mine is silent, you may have an amp or guitar issue if you're hearing excessive hiss
