Off-topic but interesting fun fact: Bruce Willis (a.k.a. Bruno Dellinger) was in Project X Zone, as a solo unit character. Sadly, though, he was not in the sequel. Those games are neat, because they managed to bring obscure/underrated IPs and characters. Heck, even Zombie Revenge and Space Channel 5 were included. Ulala is awesome in that game, her dialogues with the other characters are great. Same goes to the second PXZ game. =)
@@dnmstarsi Also... Too bad that Bayonetta wasn't in the games. A great opportunity to have her and Dante interacting with each other, only to not happen. Alas!
Arcade by my hotel had this when i went to the states back in the day. Was blown away at the randomness of it all and it being a "Die Hard" (but not actually "Die Hard") game
I have a very, very vivid memory of playing the original of this at a bowling alley many many years ago but I was forced to leave by my fiendish parents and pitched a ridiculously childish tantrum that culminated in me attempting to leave home. I didn't, and I never saw the game again. ...assuming it was Die Hard. It may not have been. This whole thing really rings a bell though.
I love the villain just became a weird old man Rambo that loves to spread his legs also two very normal things in Die Hard, robots and giant people that about 9 to 10 ft tall
It's _technically_ still downloadable on PS3 as a PS2 Classic if you make a Japanese PSN account, but you have to jump through so many hoops just to purchase stuff on PS3 these days that it may as well not be an option
What i enjoy about this is the voice work and the wonky walking/running animations, then out of no where you get legit great snow effects like what you see with the helicopter segment, this extreme attention to detail. Classic arcade whiplash.
I'd love a hilarious, bombastic 90s-as-fuck 3D beat em up that is both a tribute and an unashamed parody of the Dynamite Cop!! and Die Hard games; i'd call it "Save me Deku-SAAN!" and I could see it taking an unsanctimoniously rad yet goofy posturing akin to Double Dragon Neon. I'd buy that shit for a lot of DOLLARS!
Almost pissed myself laughing with the Wind Waker voices 😂 also Matt, thank you for actually putting a break in the proper times for an ad 👍 can't stand it being mid sentence when watching a vid
Yeah looking at the game like little dioramas is a great analogy and was an inventive way to create an action game and save memory. I think its lessons learned from 3d fighting games arenas also being done at the time.
In two-player mode, something Double Dragon 1-like at the end, you actually fight each other to become the President's daughter's bodyguard. Kind of... messed up.
I believe the chad-fish is a very large arowana. Its relative the arapaima might be capable of actually getting that size, but the barbels and general body shape definitely say arowana
I thought I’d played this before, but I couldn’t figure out why none of it looked familiar, then I realized I’ve only ever played the sequel, Dynamite Cop.
Damn, I remember seeing ads in GamePro for the Die Hard Arcade game and wanted to play it. This looks like so much hilarious fun (using a grandfather clock to fight dudes) that I hope we get a re-release one day.
I had a lot of fun playing Die Hard Arcade when it came out. I remember it had a somewhat unique arcade cabinet with coin slots near the joysticks. Unfortunately emulation of this game is very choppy with MAME just like other Sega Model 2 arcade games in my experience.
I remember going to the local independent game store when I was alllllot younger being a huge 80's 90's action fan. Saw DHA and wtf IS this. Bought it then and there. Aerosol and lighter were fun
I think if you take the concept of of Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Deka and Urban Reign you can make a very fun arcade 3D beat em up. But if you take Metal gear solid and Dynamite Deka, then you got crazy action stealth game.
SEGA's beat em ups always clock with me in a bit way I better say former SEGA not this new thing SEGA AGES was a much bigger list of titles on PS2 compared to current gen consoles. they remake lots of those games for PS2 AGES release it's an awesome line of games

That's how I discovered Die Hard Arcade admittedly. Also that there was a rendition of High Rise to Hell was in the Japanese version of PXZ.
@@dnmstarsi Also... Too bad that Bayonetta wasn't in the games. A great opportunity to have her and Dante interacting with each other, only to not happen. Alas!
The gun you pick up is a Barrett M82A1 anti material rifle, not a howitzer. A howitzer is an artillery piece, which would make it even crazier.
McClane: "Yippee Ki-Yay. I was out of bullets."
John McClane will always be the guy that accidentally gets into trouble then any other guy.

This was peak arcade action. I remember the polygons being 90’s chunky goodness. I had so much fun with this as a teen in the arcade.
Extra credit to you for the subtle @WrestlingBios reference 👍
STEVE MUFUGGIN BLACKMAN, there NEEDS to be an action beat em up with the Real Mufuggin Problem as the MC
"Why Bret why?" "......shaddap!"
the sploosh and kaboom from Wind Breaker is amazing!
Its a crime that there isn't already a way to buy these games digitally on any platform
I agree. The current world needs to experience Sega John McClain.
Only in Japan.
I assume it's because of...legal reasons? I mean, it's Die Hard movie, Bruce Willis, etc... Maybe Sega doesn't want to deal with all of that.
Buy? No. Download? Yes. 😉
It's _technically_ still downloadable on PS3 as a PS2 Classic if you make a Japanese PSN account, but you have to jump through so many hoops just to purchase stuff on PS3 these days that it may as well not be an option
Dynamite Deka series was the evolution of the side scrolling beat em up. This is one of the best beatemups of all time.
"Bullets will beat football Armor" inadvertent reference to another Bruce Willis Film The Last Boyscout
I'm going to need a quick Crymetina Critiques for the two women at 9:50.
I remember playing this in the arcade. The QTE’s were my favorite part of the game. The weapons too!
Wanna hear a sad story?
Young, stupid me owned the Saturn version of this.
Young, stupid me traded it in.
The end.
Wow, I thought I was the only one with that origin story.
What i enjoy about this is the voice work and the wonky walking/running animations, then out of no where you get legit great snow effects like what you see with the helicopter segment, this extreme attention to detail. Classic arcade whiplash.
I came for the Die Hard Remake, I stayed for the bonus "SPLIIISH" and "KABOOOOOM" Periscope game.
I'd love a hilarious, bombastic 90s-as-fuck 3D beat em up that is both a tribute and an unashamed parody of the Dynamite Cop!! and Die Hard games; i'd call it "Save me Deku-SAAN!" and I could see it taking an unsanctimoniously rad yet goofy posturing akin to Double Dragon Neon. throws clock=misses by a country mile=AMAZING
Almost pissed myself laughing with the Wind Waker voices 😂 also Matt, thank you for actually putting a break in the proper times for an ad 👍 can't stand it being mid sentence when watching a vid
I love how in the ship part, you have the edit of the guy from Windwaker making those Sploosh and Boom sounds.
That " yyyeah" is also what Yellow Jacket says from Twisted Metal 1
ooohhh, i remember playing this at the arcade when we left the supermarket. good times
13:23 Yeah, I remember the scene in Die Hard where he fought fetish girls in the Nakatomi buildings fountain
Carrying on in the great tradition of all good Die Hard media in that it was originally conceived as something else entirely.
8:09- Hell yeah, Fighting Baseball reference!
so many wrestling references in this vid i kinda love it
Never seen this game but its a cool way to mimic the action of the movie where John does just as much hand to hand fighting as he does shooting.
Det. John McClane: No turkey? It's Christmas
I miss this kind of stuff. Dynamite Cop and Zombies Revenge were fun as well. Zombies Revenge takes some getting used too though
Whia, Periscope?!?! I used to play that arcade game so much when I was a kid. I didn't know there was a 3D model made and packaged in this.
M.O.P. Cold as Ice 0:07 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Always loved this remake. The weird Golden Axe mode you can unlock in this version is pretty great.
Sega had the market CORNERED on 3D Beat ‘Em Ups
Love the Mufug Dojo reference!
Yeah looking at the game like little dioramas is a great analogy and was an inventive way to create an action game and save memory. I think its lessons learned from 3d fighting games arenas also being done at the time.
According to Game Centre CX the final boss has the most incredible name - Wolf Hongo!
Die Hard is indeed a "Christmas movie".
I stand by the argument that if Home Alone is a Christmas movie, then Die Hard must be: both movies have essentially the same plot.😅

I'm shocked they didn't have Totally Not Hans Gruber fall from the building when you beat him, even in the original. XD
I had this on the Saturn. I loved it.
Talking about obscure Saturn beat-em-ups, Guardian Heroes could be a good one to do a vid of...
I grew up on this. It was so fun!
Not all QTE failures lead to an additional battle, some just make you lose life and go to the same fight no matter the results.
The arcade version had options to set up lives, and one arcade it had the machine it was set to 3 lives per credit
Damn, I remember seeing ads in GamePro for the Die Hard Arcade game and wanted to play it. This looks like so much hilarious fun (using a grandfather clock to fight dudes) that I hope we get a re-release one day.
Love the Wrestling Bios intro!!
I had a lot of fun playing Die Hard Arcade when it came out. I remember it had a somewhat unique arcade cabinet with coin slots near the joysticks. Unfortunately emulation of this game is very choppy with MAME just like other Sega Model 2 arcade games in my experience.
6:10 I DID IT FOR YOU, ROCK!
My local flee market had/might still have the arcade game loved playing it
I remember going to the local independent game store when I was alllllot younger being a huge 80's 90's action fan. Saw DHA and wtf IS this. Bought it then and there. Aerosol and lighter were fun
I was a big fan of the original Saturn or later arcade emulation this looks great I got my fight stick out time to trawl the net again nice one FP
I played this game to death on the Saturn. I love it so much!
I think if you take the concept of
of Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Deka and Urban Reign
you can make a very fun arcade 3D beat em up.
But if you take Metal gear solid and Dynamite Deka,
then you got crazy action stealth game.
Fighting force with a die hard skin? Dope!
I mean, this came out before Fighting Force.
reliving the war with john blackman🤣
The return of Bruno
He did it for da rock
wish sega make a collection of this series, spikeout series, zombie revenge and slashout for consoles and PC..
Played this at my arcade
By Banjo Frog did you happen to mean the Everhood Guide?
I need this!
Sometimes I forget that the ps2 version was a thing…
Was dynamite cop 2 on the dreamcast right?
I love die hard arcade (or dynamite deka)
I have the ORIGINAL sega Saturn game Japanese version!
Why are the Japanese sega Saturn games so cheap?
The Saturn had much better sales and support in Japan compared to elsewhere.
SEGA's beat em ups always clock with me in a bit way
I better say former SEGA not this new thing
SEGA AGES was a much bigger list of titles on PS2 compared to current gen consoles. they remake lots of those games for PS2 AGES release it's an awesome line of games
Ps1die hard looked based
Turn the beat back!
Wait. Die hard arcade is for PS2?!???
But what about Deep Scan?... Its just not the same without Deep Scan to earn credits... 😢
Such a wunderful remake
