Guy Cihi is reflecting on the suicidal thoughts he had experienced in his past ... this guy interrupts him with *"We got the Lyne House Key!"* ... seriously? That may be the rudest and tactless thing I've ever witnessed. I think Guy's commentary and insight into the production of the game is a little more important than picking up an item.
exactly its too painful to watch, the whole thing. if i was Guy Cihi there, even that being a live stream i'd say "okay, bye good luck w/ your channel there"
Completely agree. He's either constantly interrupting Guy whilst he's giving some great insight, ignoring what Guy had said, or trying to one-up him with information that isn't always correct. I had to stop at the Lyne House Key part as it was so disrespectful. Kudos to Guy who was so polite and patient!
I'll be honest, there were a couple of things that irked me about this interview, and it's all because of the person interviewing. Besides interrupting Guy, whenever Dave was around it almost felt like the interviewer was ignoring Dave's presence when he could have asked Dave more questions about his experiences working on this game alongside Guy. The focal point was Guy, sure, but since Dave was there he could have asked him some more questions or asked him to give his perspective. I don't wanna seem like I'm complaining too much but these little things made the interview fall a bit short. Still enjoyed hearing Guy though and the little bits where Dave spoke.
So my friend really wanted to get into Silent Hill, but had no idea where to start. So I pulled out Silent Hill 2, turned out the lights, and made him play through it. For the first few sessions, he had to take massive breaks in between due to the atmosphere this game just drops on you. Then, after the apartment buildings, when James meets Maria and ends up going to the Hospital, he just couldn't stop playing. The story and the intrigue behind this game, as well as all of the acting done in it really made it something incredible. Even though I had beaten the game several times before, when the final reading of Mary's letter came around, I still teared up. This is not just a game. It's a piece of art. The whole experience it gave me will stick with me forever
Hey there Guy. First of all, thanks for doing this. Both your artistry and participation in the community means a great deal to us enduring fans. I first picked up Silent Hill 2 when I was 15 years old. At the time, I was extremely lonely and suffered from crippling phobias. I picked up the game primarily because I had learned in my psychology class about systematic desensitization, and wanted to force myself to get over my fears by exposing myself to fear in a safe environment - namely, the game. The first time I played through, I could only play for about 20 minutes at a time, and had to read a gameplay guide to warn me of upcoming jump scares. However, I gradually became more and more immersed in the experience and made it through. The experience was extremely therapeutic for me. It furthermore introduced me to members of the Silent Hill Forums (including Fungo!) that helped me establish a group of remote friends who were very supportive during some tough times. The Silent Hill series continued to inspire me and motivate me throughout my life - for instance, my love of the soundtrack inspired me to pursue electronic music work, and I am now a sound designer working in the video games industry and getting by B.S. in audio engineering. I even have a tattoo of the Halo of the Sun from SH3 on my left shoulder. All this is to say that, perhaps when you go into a vocal booth to lay down some V.O., you might not be thinking, "I'm about to play a role in shaping someone's life for the better." But the fact of the matter is that Silent Hill 2 played a huge role in my turbulent teenage years, and it would not have been the same without your expert performance. So, I wanted to take a moment to thank you and to let you know that despite all the drama with the HD collections, angry fans, etc. etc. your work on the game is highly appreciated, fondly remembered, and deeply inspirational. All the very best to you and your loved ones.
Jonathan Grover I wasn't sure why I enjoyed being horrified or deeply disturbed by games. Silent Hill 2, Dead Space 2, Penumbra, even The Suffering was okay. When I got older I realized I was relating on a very intimate level with characters that were experiencing things so terrible they could not be believed, yet hopeful in a way because this person either overcomes the trauma or succumbs to it. "Not even a kid could believe in this!" I bought my first video card upgrade to play Silent Hill 3, I'm now playing it again to test out a new video card. Cheers to Konami for putting such insanely high resolution options in the PC version, completely impractical in 2003.
GCNavigator You must have heard it thousands of time. Great voice acting on Silent Hill 2. Replaying it right now after numberous years and appreciating it even more after watching twin perfect work and Fungo work. Really down to earth guy i really appreciate thank you for everything.
Watching this again, and at 8:53 I got chills. Watching Guy Cihi in the flesh watching himself saying those iconic opening lines to the game is just so cool. I wish I could talk to him about the game. Just so awesome.
Angela: "What did you say?" Guy: "Just like a real woman." Ha ha, loved that part! This WHOLE thing was a dream come true. Was upset I missed the livestream, but am thrilled to still be able to see it on UA-cam. (: Thank you so very much for sharing; I thoroughly enjoyed it all!
It took me way too long to realize this video exists. Thank you for this. What's kind of crazy to me is that i'm sitting in Heavens Night in VR as James, watching this on the stage where they put a screen and a URL link lol. I walked in off of the foggy streets, up the stairs. . . this games setting in VR is like a dream wrapped up in a memory. It's both somber and comforting due to the nostalgia and music yet oddly enough it's not scary to me, even outside of Heavens Night which is a very safe feeling space the devs intelligently designed to both taunt James, and give reprieve to the player, a stroke of genius. But even in the dimly lit and claustrophobic halls of the apartment and hotel it's too nostalgic to be scary lol. In terms of atmosphere SH2 has always been top notch, but sitting here in VR is surreal to say the least.
This was so enjoyable to watch, thank you very much for taking the time to do this Guy! I do wish the Fungo guy had been a little more polite in letting you finish though. Minor gripe aside being able to delve into the experience like this makes it all the more special as a player and fan. Another big thanks to you Guy!
I wish I would have known this existed sooner, this game was the biggest hallmark of my childhood, from 11 to 14, this game meant everything to me. Seeing the voice actor of my favorite video game character provide commentary over my favorite video game is the most amazing thing ever. 11 year old me just died and went to heaven. Whether this is read or not, Guy, thank you for making my childhood so memorable by providing the voice and life to my favorite video game character of all time.
Be still my heart, this is amazing. Thank you guys for putting this together. I'd kill to be in your shoes, Fungo. Silent Hill will continue to always be an inspiration to me as I further my hobby/career into game design.
Holy Cow I'm happy this recording exists! I've always found it to be incredibly entertaining seeing people who were involved with video games such as this give insight behind the scenes so to speak.
I've played my share of games, but SH2 has always been one of my favorites. After all the interviews, documentaries and such, I really started to respect Cihi's work in SH2. The delivery is very believable, but then again everyone did amazing job with SH2.
It seems like a lot of voice actors don't have the looks to back it up, but Guy is a cool looking guy on top of everything. And great hair. And him reading the letter about Walter Sullivan that he had never seen before and just nailing it intonation wise. Brilliant actor!
Definitely the best video game in my life. Arts, musics, atmosphere, and the gameplay.. The only video game I shed tears. I've seen the forgive (leave) ending when I first played and it was the most touching thing in my life. Damn, if I was a millionaire, I would have bought the entire SH franchise IP from Konami and revived the original Team Silent. And direct the Silent Hill movie by myself! Good to see you still alive and kickin'. God bless you.
This is really awesome! Thank you, Fungo, for doing all these amazing things with our beloved SH2! And many thanks to Guy as well for being one of the very few videogame persons that actually care for their work and their fans!
I've played Silent Hill 2 a thousand times (Silent Hill 2 is one of ma favorite games of all time) and now it feels like I'm listening to James himself (and i'm not?). So mutch fun!
What you guys were talking about around 16:00-17:40--about players not wanting to have to be patient during lengthy intros and such--reminded me of a game that came out a while ago called _Cry of Fear_. It's a deeply Silent Hill 2 inspired (Well, inspired by a game that was inspired by Silent Hill)--when I first played through it, I just felt as if the atmosphere of the games was one in the same. (Even down to the heavy dialogues) However, unlike SH, it's a first-person shooter with a greater focus on combat mechanics. I honestly think it achieved a pretty good balance between pacing and action, but it never strayed away from the content that made its spiritual predecessor such a great experience. It makes me appreciate the influence of the Silent Hill series all the more. Thanks for helping to inspire so much cool stuff, Guy!
The game does tell us she's in the car somewhere due to the Rebirth ending as well as his inexplicable urge to get the hell away from the car (the road is blocked, better go through creepy woods instead of finding another route?). That car is his only recent possession or point of interaction before he drives to the town. I figured she was in the trunk, that she's in the back seat makes James's insanity that much more stark, and also lends credit to this possibly being a delusion rather than a magic town (he's already hallucinating).
Thank you for posting this playthrough of Silent Hill 2. Nice of you to share your perspective and takes on the filming of that game as you worked on it. And by the way, I can't help noticing the Tetsuwan Atom (Astroboy) poster you have behind you. As a fan of that series and of Osamu Tezuka since I was 2 years old, I love that poster. Great find. :) :)
I actually looked forward to this all day at work. Coming home, first thing I did was open UA-cam and bring up the video. Watched part of it when I got up for the day but had to stop and leave the house. This is an excellent way to spend my otherwise boring night up. Thank you, Fungo and Guy Cihi!
Guy seems like a really cool person, it's really interesting to hear his side of the whole SH2 experience and to hear all about the process. Great job on both the video and the voice acting in the game Guy!
@Shawn Burke I think Matt played homecoming, downpour, and I honestly didn't watch the playthrough of 3 yet so he might have played that one too lol. I think I should've or meant to say "I wish Matt would play them all and Pat just backseat yell at him" but even that's not true so idk wtf I wanted lol
Rather than dedicated or relentless, what I took from his attitude to everything is that james is a huge fucking weirdo who's completely detached from reality. He sees monsters and instead of running screaming or panicking in any noticeable way, he goes "what was that" then starts playing with his radio. At first i thought the voice acting was terrible, because James doesn't seem to emote at all, but then I realize that it was probably deliberate. He doesn't react to the world around him because he's completely nuts.
yes! same with angela, she sounds almost childlike and is illiterate since, ya know what happened to her her whole life. and laura, she’s obviously a little kid so there are some words that are wrong, but that’s intentional
Silent Hill 2 was just dam beautiful and artistic. When I first played it I didn't know it was a horror. I was set straight pretty quick. This will always have a sentimental place for me. Your awesome Guy! Thanks for giving me this lovely world to see. Your awesome. OK I'll fan girl calm it.
Guy can I just say I appreciate your role as James so much you're an inspiration to everyone I heard you on the Best Friend Cast and I think tou you are amazing no matter what anyone says thank you for voicing the best character in SH2, I'll always respect and admire you.
Thank you for taking the time to do this stream, and for inviting Dave along for the ride! It's great to hear all of the insight and behind the scenes info of your experience with making the game. Lesser people would have left behind an aspect of their lives like this long ago. The fact that you take an active role with embracing your work, and we the fans, is something truly special.
It's a shame there were some technical difficulties causing some lost footage, but other than that this is a great watch, I never thought I'd at some point be watching a Silent Hill 2 playthrough with voice actors not only experiencing it for the first time, and also adding commentary and details from when it was recorded. Many thanks for doing this, good stuff.
I just beat the game last night and it's awesome that you guys are streaming this game and the fact that guy is still running around pushing this beautiful game out into the world and last note I think spoilers are okay because a majority of us have played them and new people wouldn't have stumbled upon guys channel
Awesome! Thank you guy for uploading this. My plans got canceled because of snow so I get to spend the next 3-4 hrs with you guys. :) Also Happy Valentines day! ~Mel
I'm just here again to say that I somehow felt in love with you, Guy. I found this video yesterday and watched the 4 hours of gameplay with your commentary today. And I loved it. I like movie and game trivia in general but having the original actor of the games protagonist coming "back" to look at his work after all those years again was... kinda special. And to be honest, when I played Silent Hill 2 about 8 years ago, I didn't feel like the acting was... that good really. But now after I got some information about the way you got directed by Team Silent and stuff... I feel like I'm seeing this game completly different. Also after listening to you reading some parts, I really feel like your acting skills have improved a lot since then as well. I'm kinda impressed and I really like your voice and the way you are now. Well... What I've seen so far. So, even if it's an 3 years old video, thanks for sharing all those information about your work and... Keep it up! :-) Greetings from Germany
Does anyone else think fungo is extremely awkward? I don't think he fully appreciates the presence of Guy in this playthrough. He's not enthusiastic or curious enough to ask the right questions to Guy, he's just trying to finish the game asap.
In the Super Best Friends interview that Guy did for their podcast, he mentioned that Fungo seemed worried about going over time, so he probably felt really pressured to get things done. (Guy had some stuff to do later in the day.) Kind of a shame, but Guy is such a good sport about the whole thing and really seems into the game, so I can forgive any imperfections. My only real complaint is that this wasn't done on the Greatest Hits version. The lack of noise filter is weirding me out.
Thank you sir for uploading this video we miss you so much in video games voice acting. That would be great to see something similar with P.T on PS4. There is something funny I always wanted to point out: you look like Sebastian Castellanos in the Evil Within (horror game by Shinji Mikami) ^^.
best livestream i ever watched (i watch maybe around 20 of this length per year). silent hill 2 being one of my favorite games, it comes as no surprise to me.
Great video Fungo, it feels amazing having Guy Cihi with you here although you didn't let him finish what he was saying sometimes. Hehehehe Anyway, one thing you should have mentioned him is that there's another CG scene in the apartment that it was removed in the final version "James walking through a hallway until he stops in the corner to see a dead monster" You can check the Autumn Trailer, plus, I'm not sure if he knew about many encounters with PH in apartment building hallways.
Excuse me Mr. Cihi, i would really appreciate if you had finished telling your thoughts on the scene with Angela and the mirror. I am fond of your part in the game and would love to hear more of your insight.
@@GCNavigator You began to mention during this playthrough how filming the scene with you and Angela's actor sort of put you in an emotional place that was familiar to you, you began to reflect on your past and i wanted to hear you finish your thoughts on that.
I was kinda sad they didn't talk about the whispering. Incase you don't know what was being whispered, the line is something like "See my dead wife, come home to do some laundry to escape..." it's really hard to make out, and there is some disagreement on what the line actually is. I wonder if Guy remembers recording it, and what is said. If I had a chance to play this game with Guy watching, the questions I'd want to ask....
It was awesome to see Guy and Dave watch the game they starred in and they are a couple of hilarious and cool guys! Also they admired their work on Silent Hill 2! I love this game so much! #SilentHill2isavideogameMasterpiece :D
I just saw the part where the streamer interrupts Cihi's reflection on suicide. That was very rude of the streamer, not just to interrupt, but to interrupt a very emotionally charged conversation.
Regarding the whole "functioning lights" thing, I believe Silent Hill has multiple versions of itself. In addition to the fog world and the Otherworld, there's also the real world, where it's a normal resort town, and that's where the working lights come from.
Thank you for doing the let's play, personally I enjoy all the podcasts you have done, very insightful stuff, like others, I would love to listen to you have a dialog with others on the game from a story stand point. A UA-camr named Reinstall Paul has a really in depth look at the story of SH2 and all its occult symbolism you might find interesting if you like that sort of stuff
as for the water ending...you see James carrying her and putting her in the car though do we not? It's implied at least by the sound effects as it sorta just blacks out after that. I could be wrong been too long since I've played this.
If I remember correctly from an analysis video of Silent Hill 2, the devs of Silent Hill 2 stated that Eddie never killed murdered anyone. I could be wrong about this though. Edit: I found the analysis video and I wanna share it with you Guy in case you wanna hear a detailed analysis of this game as well as some interesting theories you could give your own thoughts on. (By the way Guy, you have a great voice. It’s very pleasant to listen to.) UA-camr: AesirAesthetics ua-cam.com/video/XMNwClWqexA/v-deo.html
Guy Cihi is reflecting on the suicidal thoughts he had experienced in his past ... this guy interrupts him with *"We got the Lyne House Key!"* ... seriously?

The guy continously interrupting Guy is bothering me. I want to know what he's saying !
Guy's so cute asking things about the game! It makes me happy knowing he could experienced playing SH
Guy's voice reading the memo is chilling! He still got it!
This is THE BEST Silent Hill game ever created! And in my opinion one of a few of THE BEST video games ever made. Thank you Guy!
Guy seems very knowledgeable on the game and everything about it. This is really cool to watch!
Holy Cow I'm happy this recording exists! I've always found it to be incredibly entertaining seeing people who were involved with video games such as this give insight behind the scenes so to speak.
Guy is the reason why I love silent hill 2.

Just curious, where in the video does he read the letter?
Sean Patrick 44:11
Don't have the looks? What? Most prominent VA are good looking dudes, I dunno who the hell you talking about
This dude literally looks like james if he was 60
What do looks even have to do with being a voice actor?
This reminds me of all the times I'd play games and my dad would just watch fascinated. Got more nostalgia out of this than I thought lol Great stuff.

This was pretty cool, thank you Mr. Cihi
It is fantastic to see Guy well and healthy. I wish him all the best and many many years of fulfillment and happiness :)

Nice to hear! Stay tuned for my next release. "Heartbreak - SH2 Behind the Scenes."
Yeah! I've been told about that. Can't wait to see!
This was so cool of you to do! Thanks Guy and Dave!
Oh god, Guy is a fan of Mist.
God damn he has good taste!

Thank you!
Guy with punisher cap playing silent hill games. Sounds like Matt from 2BF.
I kinda wish Pat would've let Matt take the wheel on more SH games
@Shawn Burke I think Matt played homecoming, downpour, and I honestly didn't watch the playthrough of 3 yet so he might have played that one too lol. yes! same with angela, she sounds almost childlike and is illiterate since, ya know what happened to her her whole life. and laura, she’s obviously a little kid so there are some words that are wrong, but that’s intentional
Thank you!
GCNavigator wow thank you for responding! Awesome.
So glad this was uploaded. Was bummed when I learned I missed it. Thanks, Guy!
Guy can I just say I appreciate your role as James so much you're an inspiration to everyone I heard you on the Best Friend Cast and I think tou you are amazing no matter what anyone says thank you for voicing the best character in SH2, I'll always respect and admire you.
Thanks for doing this Guy! As a massive SH2 fan this was a real treat great to hear the background to everything and your thought 😄
Was one of those folks that had to miss it. Awesome we're getting to see it too. Thanks a bunch to everyone involved. :)
Awesome video. Big fan of the silent hill series. Can't wait to see the rest!
No words can describe how awesome this is.
This is amazing! Basically a commentary of my favorite game! Love it!
thank you guy cihi
I keep re watching this play through. amazing :)
Finally, the mystery of the mirror in the bathroom is revealed!
LOL XD
These were the old days, god i miss the old days, i love the old days. where's the time...
So, even if it's an 3 years old video, thanks for sharing all those information about your work
and... Keep it up! :-)
Greetings from Germany
This is awesome seeing you experience the game for the first time like this! It`s like listening to a director`s commentary.
Does anyone else think fungo is extremely awkward? I don't think he fully appreciates the presence of Guy in this playthrough. He's not enthusiastic or curious enough to ask the right questions to Guy, he's just trying to finish the game asap.
i thought the same thing, man. I'd be asking so many question if i had his opportunity
He's honestly ruining the video for me, he's so cringe-worthy.
maybe he's star-struck
In the Super Best Friends interview that Guy did for their podcast, he mentioned that Fungo seemed worried about going over time, so he probably felt really pressured to get things done. (Guy had some stuff to do later in the day.) Kind of a shame, but Guy is such a good sport about the whole thing and really seems into the game, so I can forgive any imperfections.
My only real complaint is that this wasn't done on the Greatest Hits version. The lack of noise filter is weirding me out.
yeah guy even thought it was the HD version once james left the bathroom lol. Thanks for the info though, man :)
Thank You Sir so much for sharing this playthrough !
Thank you sir for uploading this video we miss you so much in video games voice acting. That would be great to see something similar with P.T on PS4. There is something funny I always wanted to point out: you look like Sebastian Castellanos in the Evil Within (horror game by Shinji Mikami) ^^.
this is so good thank you very much I do really like the whole experience when I played the game its fenomenal
best livestream i ever watched (i watch maybe around 20 of this length per year). silent hill 2 being one of my favorite games, it comes as no surprise to me.
Hilarious on how like James' habit of writing on the map for notes, Guy was keeping a notepad to write things down.
Great video Fungo, it feels amazing having Guy Cihi with you here although you didn't let him finish what he was saying sometimes. Hehehehe
Anyway, one thing you should have mentioned him is that there's another CG scene in the apartment that it was removed in the final version "James walking through a hallway until he stops in the corner to see a dead monster" You can check the Autumn Trailer, plus, I'm not sure if he knew about many encounters with PH in apartment building hallways.
Excuse me Mr. Cihi, i would really appreciate if you had finished telling your thoughts on the scene with Angela and the mirror. I am fond of your part in the game and would love to hear more of your insight.
A Banana 2 What would you like to know more about?
@@GCNavigator You began to mention during this playthrough how filming the scene with you and Angela's actor sort of put you in an emotional place that was familiar to you, you began to reflect on your past and i wanted to hear you finish your thoughts on that.
You guys are the best!
If you listen closely at 1:00:50 when they first enter the room there is a faint whispering, also love Guy he is so cute!
_James Sunderland plays Myst nude because he believes it gives him SEXUAL POWERS_
Man, thats really cool Guy!
This mutual Star Trek reference cracked me up.
In addition to the fog world and the Otherworld, there's also the real world, where it's a normal resort town, and that's where the working lights come from.
aw man i wish i got to sea this live
I get such a kick out of you, Guy! I love the Maria impression around 1:22:55
Marie Carie Thank you. It was a guilty pleasure recording Maria's lines. Thank goodness I had Monica Horgan's fabulous performance to mimic.
I see myself in the chat :P This was soooo much fun ^.^
Amy Zebrowski what did you say?
Guy has a very good taste.
i never knew who voiced james in this game and now im happy to say i do
guy I love your voice!!
1:21:03 my favorite clip😊
Thank you !!!!!!!!!!
This is so badass, SH2 was the best one in the series. Give me an autograph thru the mail please 🙌🏻
I see myself in the chat. xD This was so much fun...!
Thanks!
did fungo not know about the bullet adjust setting? That would've helped him big time.
I'm shure fungo is a nice guy, but I'd probably ask more questions if I was him.
27:00 - I remember something about the gun being in the cart. It's a comment on America that you can easily get firearm in the country.
1:00:00 I really wish he doesn't always interrupt guy. Especially not here.
as for the water ending...you see James carrying her and putting her in the car though do we not? It's implied at least by the sound effects as it sorta just blacks out after that. I could be wrong been too long since I've played this.
If I remember correctly from an analysis video of Silent Hill 2, the devs of Silent Hill 2 stated that Eddie never killed murdered anyone. I could be wrong about this though.
Edit: I found the analysis video and I wanna share it with you Guy in case you wanna hear a detailed analysis of this game as well as some interesting theories you could give your own thoughts on.
(By the way Guy, you have a great voice. It’s very pleasant to listen to.)

Guy, you were in Italy when recording? Really, nice to know :) (I'm Italian) Any chance for you to come in Italy again?
Sure, I would love to. Some day!
I was sad when guy cihi became sad after seeing maria die and how that scene emotionally affected him 😢
i really wanna hear guy say the famous pizza line again!
I'm only 10 minutes in, but if Guy doesn't talk in sync with James, I'll be disappointed.
I hope you liked it.
Armless monsters - james taking care of mary in her sick state when she was bedridden and couldnt herself
Itd be great if someone could put the parts that Guy read into the game
T-T I forgot the live...
